Mongo’s Saloon & Restaurant

I normally don’t frequent the south county, but happened to stop by on a random Friday evening. I would describe Mongo’s as a «divey”/beach bar, with good food and great service. And, when I say «divey», I do not mean it in a negative connotation. The first time I came here, I felt right at home. It is a place you can come in after being at the dunes all day, for a beer after work in business attire, or a cocktail before dinner… and in all of these situations, you would feel comfortable. The bartender, Sean, is absolutely incredible! He made my evening so entertaining and we had great conversation. If you can’t tell, I’m a huge fan! I have been back a couple times, literally just because of his awesome service and friendliness.
Aside from Sean, the food is great and decently priced. You can’t go wrong with the sampler platter! They always have a daily special — and their carnitas tacos on Tuesday are delicious… and only $ 1.00 each!
Overall… good times, great people, and awesome atmosphere!

Great service and good food. I went with a friend for brunch. I got the fried chicken and he got biscuit and gravy. The gravy is the bomb and has little meat chunks. Service was good. Plays classic rock. Atmosphere is good. ⁴⁄₅

Have been here when I visit the central coast… great vibe and usually great service… had one drink and tipped bartender… was never asked again if I needed another even though patron next to me was served 3 drinks in 15 minutes… while my glass was empty!

When I first saw Mongo’s on Unilocal,I was hesitant to check it out, but decided meet up with someone there because it was unfortunately one of the few places that was open in the area past 10pm. I am actually happy that I picked Mongo’s. Yes, it’s a dive bar. I cannot speak for the food, but the drinks were your standard bar drinks, no special drinks or anything. There’s nothing really that makes it stand out, but the service and the ambiance were good, and we had a great time!

The staff is very attentive. Always have great drink specials 2 for 1 tuesday and the food is great!

Food sucks, too bad they can’t get it together (owner and management) and get someone that actually knows how to cook. Then you get the «special» and they charge you full price. Hey at least the beer was good.

Went here with my man on a trip to Pismo and this place was recommended by our local friends. We had the fish and chips specials, which was recommended by our rockin’ server Kate and wow! So juicy, moist, and flavorful. So many beach places now a days boast their fish, but man is it so dry… but not here! We also had shots and beer and we were pleasantly surprised at how loose the bartended was with his ‘pours’. Very cool place and will definitely be back soon for their bloody Mary!

Freaky Beach dive bar with killer food!!! You just don’t expect it… Must have the zucchini sticks But really good overall! Great bloody too. Props to our great bartender Amy Stone (Keith Stone’s sis)… We will be back!

It is a pretty good bar to hang out with. Lots of live music. Very spacious with tons of sitting room. The drinks are averaged price. Some of the customers aren’t so great but the staff is very friendly. They have a large dancing area which is really great.

I went here for new years eve and enjoyed my time here. The bartenders were nice and happy they have a pool table which is awesome. It was fun. The bar was clean the band was great. No complaints.

We were on our way to one of my favorite restaurants at Pismo Beach but it was closed. So we ended up at Mongo’s and WOW what a pleasant surprise! I had fish and chips & my wife got a burger and both of us we very happy. Our server Amy was awesome. After Michelle ordered a burger Amy said she would run it as a burger and beer special! But we don’t drink alcohol! She gave me an ice tea instead. We will definitely return when we are in the area again.

Frank the bartender is hilarious. Knows too many jokes if that’s possible. Extremely friendly and attentive. With a full bar he made time to socialize with me and tell jokes. I had a great experience, I like the atmosphere. When I’m in town again I’m for sure stopping by!

It was my first time in to the bar and the blonde bartender with the Gray sleve was very unwelcoming and rude to me and my friends will not be going back for recommending it to anybody

Went out with my coworkers and tore the dance floor up! Super mellow and safe vibe at this place. The bouncers are always walking the perimeter of the establishment to keep the drama out. Totally makes me feel more content, and my buzz can last longer!
The band was golden, and today my feet hurt … Ready for round 2. Thank you!

I love the coconut shrimp or fish and chips! Everything’s house made and that tarter sauce turned me into a tarter lady.

You must try the $ 1.00 street tacos on Tuesday’s, absolutely amazing from 5 – 9:00pm. Look for Sean he’s a great bartender!

Worst piece of crap excuse of a bar. They catered to the low life’s and ignored the true patrons. The main bartender called me white trash because I wanted to hear their drink specials. Racist assholes.

Great neighborhood establishment. Full bar. The music is hit or miss, but mostly a hit. Many HD televisions. Pool tables, dart boards and a video golf game. Two patios for the smoking crowd. If that is not enough there is also a poker room!
