This is a great review of the new Yosemite Chamber of Commerce’s visitor center and we hope Unilocal will reclassify it as such. It is possible that this reviewer met John who owns Yosemite Guide Service, many of our Chamber members volunteer time at the visitors center to help travelers plan their perfect Yosemite Adventure. Starting this week the Yosemite Chamber of Commerce will be getting a Ranger from YNP to staff the office selling gate passes and sharing the latest park news with visitors. Yosemite Guide Service is an escorted, guided tour service from Groveland into the Park. We look forward to welcoming folks through Groveland for your 1st or 100th visit throughout the coming summer months. Lynn Upthagrove, Secretary, Yosemite Chamber of Commerce 209−962−6455

If you’re staying in or driving through the charmingly tiny sleepy old mountain town of Groveland on your way to Yosemite National Park, then I highly recommend a quick stop at the Yosemite Chamber of Commerce Visitor Center. This Visitor Center, located in the same building as the popular Mountain Sage organic and fair trade coffee shop, is full of brochures and maps for Yosemite National Park as well as information for Groveland and other nearby attractions. Visited this place the day before heading to Yosemite and obtained so much useful information that I really didn’t need to pick up any additional maps or brochures at the park. One wall display that I really appreciated contained business cards for most of the quaint local businesses on Main Street. Sometimes great things come in small packages, and Yosemite Chamber of Commerce Visitor Center is a prime example.

I just want to say that I recently had the pleasure of choosing John and Yosemite Guide Service for a hiking trip over what was to be two days. John was eminently knowledgeable, courteous, and professional. He showed me and my girlfriend a great time. He took us to places that are not normally frequented. He completely tailored our trip to our liking with some clever suggestions along the way. He was FANTASTIC! I recommend him to anyone. If you are thinking about hiring a guided hiking service in Yosemite I would suggest you stop and take a look at before you spend upwards of 300.00 for 4 – 5 hours on a hotel sponsored service. John will show you things that will change your life for 25−50% of the going rate. AND he will drive you in his über high tech brand new minivan!
