Not bad. Here’s the deal, I was born and raised in GC… never had this place once! Hard to believe I know, but we were a masseys family lol so there was never a need for anything else outside of the occasional pizza hut every once in a blue moon. I FINALLY tried this place a couple weeks ago. I’ve heard ALOT of people talk about this place. Everyone seemed to have very good things to say about it so I thought I’d give it a shot and on top of that growing up in a town and never trying the«best» pizza place there would be a crime… or so I thought. Called in and ordered a pep and bacon pizza well done because I love well done pizza! They told me about 50 minutes, it was a Saturday and I believe something was going on so I was ok with it. I got there and was in and out, the guy who took my cash was friendly and polite however nobody says hi when you walk in… unless you’ve been going there for a long time and they know you… oh and they’re a CASHONLY joint… which is weird considering its 2016… The pizza wasn’t bad… Not great, but not terrible. Lots of cheese. Not too much sauce though which can be alright if everything else tastes good. They didn’t put alot of bacon on it though. the crust was pretty dark so the did good on the well done part. Overall it was average. I know a lot of people love this place and it’s been around a long time. I just don’t get the hype for it. I’ll have it again if i rememeber it.

The best mom and pop shop I’ve had in Columbus so far. I add extra sauce and extra cheese and it’s amazing.

I love a good Mom and Pop pizza place. Grovecity is lucky to have a couple in their town, and different styles/bakes, too. Lucky. Zamarelli’s has been on my radar for a while. I had the placed bookmarked for a couple years now, but that pesky«Closed on Sunday» thing always got me. I finally got my chance to give them a try. Zamarelli’s sits behind Old City and literally on the other side of the tracks. Small, white, concrete structure with a big ‘Z’ on their awnings. It’s cramped inside. This isn’t the place to chill and eat. It’s a ‘take it and go’ kinda place. You walk in and are instantly greeted with a large open view into their kitchen. I think I counted around 10 high-school esque boys working in the back, and the owner off to the side taking the orders, and greeting the customers. Large crew for a small pizza joint, but they were definitely getting the demand with the numerous calls, and walk-ins looking for pizza. The pizza was A-OK. There’s a place up in Marysville & Bellefontaine called ‘Tubby’s Pizza’. This was on-par to that. Much better than the run of the mill chains in the area, but a good Ohio style pizza. The crust is thin, but not to the point of me considering it a cracker crust. It could be… Perhaps if you ordered it ‘well-done’, which I heard a lot of. The pizza was also fairly inexpensive. I’ve been to other joints slinging same size pies with crappier quality toppings, but instead of $ 9 for a medium, you’d be paying $ 14. A good Friday night pizza. Greasy, delicious, and Ohio original. Great for GroveCity, but probably not worth your drive from out of town. especially since there’s no dine-in option really available. They’ll get my business again, should the occasion arise. I’ll be generous and give this place a 4 star. 50+ years can’t be a bad thing.

Had a bad experience my first time. The second and third times I went there the pizza was among the best I’ve ever had. I was helped both times right away and they put the same amount of pizza. I’m not sure what happened the first time I was here. Maybe they were using old ingredients? Who knows. They used fresh, good ingredients the next two times I came here. It was delicious, and it’s worth the 30 minute drive for me.

Was in Grove City visiting my daughter and her family… ordered from here for the first time… got a pepperoni pizza, a turkey sub and bread sticks. came to $ 42… What a waste of money! Pizza was so so. sub was dry and had one slice of turkey on it and they don’t take credit cards, which I didn’t know. when I tried to pay with a card the owner got nasty with me… didn’t have enough cash on me to pay for our order, so I called my son-in-law to bring money. wished I would have just left our food there. can’t figure out all the good reviews for this place. with all the other options for pizza in Grove City this will be the first and last time they will see me there!

Hands down the best pizza place in Grove City. This is the pizza that I compare all other pizzas too. The flavor is so good, and the dough is fresh. Greasy, but what pizza isn’t? It has meat and cheese on it, what do you expect… Awesome hot sausage too; it tastes like they make it themselves. Like others have said, cash only. Old school. I don’t think it is pricey for the quality of pizza you get. If you want a $ 5 dollar pizza, then you get a junk pizza. You get what you pay for here. We are weekly regulars in this joint.

Old school pizza. Cash only. Cheesy, greasy… a reminder of past times. Pepperoni is the way to go. Sausage is good as well. We skip the veggies here, they just never go with pizza grease(lol).

I gotta give it five stars. I had this for the first time last night, just a 12″ pepperoni. Yes, it is greasy. It is cheesy. It is friggin’ legit! Frankly, I’m happy this place is keeping it old school, cash only. The pizza reminded me of a place in Grandview called Antolino’s that use to be on 1st Ave around 20 – 25 years ago. The crust is thin, like Donatos or Flyer’s. But much better. The bottom is just slightly crispy. Plenty of cheese and pepperoni and a sprinkling of Italian seasoning on top, not a lot… just enough to give it that extra flavor. The pepperoni, at least on my pizza, were mostly under the cheese. A feature that I tend to prefer unless the pepperoni are those little ones that turn into tasty little grease cups when they cook. If your idea of great pizza is some artisan, wood-fired, spinach and goat cheese covered crust drizzled in oil then this is not your place. Don’t bother going here and then getting on Unilocal giving it a crappy review.

We have been faithful fans for over twenty years. I forgave the last three orders for not being as good, but today I can’t keep silent. The crust is thick and dry. No one orders zams for thick or dry. I called and was directed to the owner… which I’m guessing is a new/different owner. I let her know of my worries and she quickly advised me the weather was the reason for the thick crust? Confusing considering this has NEVERBEEN A PROBLEMBEFORE. We have purchased pizza every July 3rd for many years. I was offered a credit, but what’s the point? As I explained I’m just making you aware not looking for anything. She said mmm ok sure ok. This pizza is sadly not been the same for awhile and I will sadly not waste anymore of my time or money hoping this place gets back to the place we loved.

Great pizza and my favorite pasta in all of Columbus. It is a small hole in the wall type take out place that only accepts cash, but the food makes it all worth it. This place is a hidden gem.

Worst pizza ever… no other words but gross! It was the greaseiest pizza I’ve ever had plus it’s a cash only shop(which they don’t communicate to you at the time of placing the order) and are rude when you pull out your credit card to pay… I was like, you must be kidding me it’s the 21st century… get with it folks!

I was raised on Zammys and it was and still always is a perfect night when I get the chance to treat myself. The pepperoni is my favorite and go to. They have those pepperonis that made school pizzas perfect. I will continue to rave about this pizza until I run out of breath!

I was raised on Zamarellis Pizza it was a big part of my childhood. The great thing is many years later it’s still the same. Delicious food, quality ingredients, friendly staff, and old world charm. Make sure you have cash or check as they don’t take credit card. Their pizza is the star but they have many wonderful assistants such as their antipasto salad, meatballs, and lasagna. It’s small inside and take out is best but trust it’s well worth it. Yes the pizza is old school so flavor and grease are there… it’s pizza damn it that’s how it should be!

I’ve been going to Zams for as long as I can remember. Their crust is thin, real thick pepperonis and amazing sauce. My favorite pizza place in Columbus. I just recently introduced my boyfriend to zams and he’s been hooked ever since!

My husband would kill me if he knew I was giving his beloved Zams any less than 5 stars, but here goes anyway. Their pepperoni pizza is no better or worse than any other pizza joint, and I would be tempted to give them more stars if the vegetables for their supreme pizza weren’t all straight from a can(yes, every single vegetable on their supreme is pre-cooked and jarred/canned.) I haven’t had their supreme in a few years, so maybe they’ve changed that, I don’t know. Their gnocchi dinner is my go-to dish, but not worth the $ 10 in my opinion. My husband really does love this place, and it’s most certainly worth trying once, but not my cup of tea.

After the first experience I didn’t really know if we would ever go back, but we really wanted to try it out. We made sure to have cash ready so they wouldn’t turn us away without our food and starving, lol. I ordered a small pepperoni pizza and a Submarine which is their Italian sub. I had one piece of pizza and was done as it was greasy, salty, chewy cheese, chewy dough and no sir I just didn’t like it. My guy said the cheese was cheap and there wasn’t hardly any sauce on the pizza so he didn’t like it either, but he could at least still eat it. I get how everybody has their own tastes, but how did they win the pizza award unless they knew who they were serving and made the pizza better for them. The sub looked so good and for that I was excited as the guy on the phone told me they make their own Italian dressing in house. It was edible with lots of lettuce, not much cheese or meat, and way too much bread that was dry. Also there was an oily substance on the sub, but there was no Italian dressing flavor on my sub and I pulled my Italian dressing out and added it to my sub. I raised them by one star because the guy who took care of me was very polite and helpful. To each his own of course.

My wife raves about this place, so I thought I’d give it a try. I ordered a pepperoni pizza and was told 30 minutes. I got there about 5 minutes early and was told it would be a few minutes. 25 minutes later they finally gave me the pizza. No I am sorry for the wait or anything. Went home and proceeded to eat it. It did not have a good flavor and the crust seemed under done. I don’t see myself going back.

So, what happens when City Scene tosses out the«Best Pizza in Columbus» award to a place with only six Unilocal reviews? My ass gets in a car to Grove City, that’s what. Zamarelli’s sits just on the«other side of the tracks» from old town Grove City. This is mostly a take-out place(a few tiny tables to dine in) and is cash only. Zamarelli’s crust is somewhat unique. It is thin, but very buttery and floury, which provided a unique taste and texture. This is an Ohio cut pie, with toppings half over and half under the cheese. The peps around the rim were not covered with cheese, which led to nice cupping and crisping. The mushrooms were fresh and tasty! The sauce has a slight kick to it(could’ve used some more). Our side of meatballs was glorious! These clumps of meat were so tender that the fork just slid right through them. They were nicely herbed with a nice, little spicy kick. The sauce was a little thin, but good. Zamarelli’s has been around longer than I have, so they must be doing something right. Indeed, this was very good, quality pizza that we enjoyed — definitely north of three stars. Columbus’ Best Pizza? No. But, pretty damn good and worth a try.

I’ve hear the pizza was good. So when I was in Grove City, I ordered a pizza to be picked up — I drive around grove city, killing time for 25 minutes… then when I get to the place, and hand the(older) guy my credit card, he flatly said«we don’t take plastic.» The guy who was getting my Pizza, saw what was happening, and just put my pizza on top of the oven as if to say«sorry pal, no pizza for you… we’ll eat your pizza on break.» I didn’t expect them to give me my pizza for free — they just weren’t friendly about my predicament. I even told them I was from outa town, and didn’t know they didn’t accept CCs. It would have been nice to hear them respond with: «hey, there’s an ATM right down [there], we’ll keep your pizza hot while you get some cash if you would like.» But noooooo; they just let me walk away. For the sake of saying it, this is not a restaurant — it’s one room with a cash register and a pizza oven…
