Smokey Bones Bar & Fire Grill

Very disappointed in this visit. I was excited to take my boyfriend here because I have always had great food and service here. When we came in there was a crowd of people standing in the front waiting to be seated. But an empty dining room? Why was no one being sat? Confused hosts is why. It took us nearly 10 minutes to get sat. When we did the host tried to seat us one place and said, «never mind» and sat us someplace else, across the restaurant. We finally sat only to have a very loud group of at least 20 sitting next to us. It took awhile for us to be greeted and just about everything else was terribly slow. My boyfriends order was wrong and we told the server who wasn’t our initial server, what he actually ordered, and she said she would fix it. They never fixed it!!! My boyfriend just ended up eating what was in front of him, which was extremely mediocre. My ribs were actually pretty good, just like I remembered. So at least that was a plus. Our server was nice enough to offer a free dessert or 10 bucks off our bill. However, that hardly satisfied us, but we aren’t going to sit there and beg for our bill to be completely covered. Which I think would be the least they would do. Our server told us he would talk to their manager which they never came out to ask us why we were unhappy. We had just a terrible experience!!! Unfortunately, I will probably not be rushing to come back like I use to.

The food is so good and there’s something for everyone! I like that they have healthy options and lots of veggie sides but also have BBQ and meaty options so everyone in the family is happy. We also had wonderful service! Our server Jordyn was great! She was very friendly and personal. Thank you for a great meal and dining experience!

Constant quality, good ribs and brisket. The Brunswick Stew is warming on cold nights and an interesting variety of cocktails! We generally visit at least once a month to enjoy some BBQ.

They get a thumbs-​up from me for nothing more than the Morning Glory Burger existing on the menu (and then on my plate). Burger with bacon, chipotle ketchup, and a fried egg? They are saying all of my favorite words…
I probably would’ve liked the burger a bit more cooked and the egg a little less cooked… but it didn’t take away from my enjoyment of it. The only improvement I could possibly suggest to them is to offer it with bison rather than beef (like Ted’s Montana Grill). A bit more expensive, but definitely worth it. Still… the beef version hit the spot when I was hungry. Just the right size for me to still enjoy some fries, too.

Haven’t had any issues with service or food. Always good waitresses and food is good.

I’ve tried on a couple different occasions to like this place, but it just is nothing special. It seems that since we began going here last summer, it has only gone downhill since. New management, now tablets on the table as a partial server, etc… The menu is limited, which is fine, but it’s mediocre food at best and WAY overpriced as are the drinks which are measured to the T. The atmosphere is nothing special either. There just isn’t much of a reason to go here in Grove City unless you have nothing to cook at home and everywhere else is too crowded. I don’t have anything to rave about after having visited 3 or 4 times.

I wish I could give a 0 star rating. I guess because we didn’t get served! Sat for at least 10 minutes. EVERYONE around us got approached/​acknowledged/​served. Even he tables around us who came in much after U.S. I calmly went to the hostess stand and asked for a server and after the blank stare, I was told «you guys are waiting for Jimmy» and I explained that nobody had been to our table and the response was «well, he is just coming on» (it was 6:10 pm). Again, I asked for a server to come to my table. I went and sat down and still, nobody approached our table. Nothing. We got up and left and went next door to Red Robin where we got outstanding service from Jess!
I get it — it was a Friday night, they were busy, I’m not unreasonable but bad service is bad service. These were poorly trained employees and apparent lack of management (at least on this night).

5 stars because we love the food and this is our go-​to for to-​go orders.
Love the pretzel bones, BBQ chicken, the fired corn, husband loves the fried pickles.
I agree with what some others have said, it’s really cold in there. But I still like the atmosphere. I wish they served fish/​salmon/​shrimp but they don’t.

Cold and under managed. Shouldn’t a BBQ place have an air of warmth and comfort? The staff looked and acted like 19 year olds on a reality series. We waited at the bar 20+ minutes for a table for two promised as «a few minutes away». Had one overly expensive drink, one free eyeful, and headed for the door.

I don’t know what it is but I feel like this is just an average restaurant with nothing special, literally it’s just got the basic bar food groups without the atmosphere of bdubs or a roosters. Just nothing going for it. Service was ok, drinks were ok, food was just ok but again nothing it’s bland bar food with nothing special. If someone can tell me what food their known for maybe I’ll try it out but I wasn’t impressed compared to other places in the area.

I usually like Smokey Bones, but this location was just terrible. Salmon was way over cooked and service was poor. Waitress asked about dessert and showed us how to use payment kiosk in the middle of us eating our entrees. She didn’t check on us otherwise. She was nice but it appears that she didn’t receive basic customer service training. My guess is that it is a management issue.

Stopped by this past Friday with the family. I ordered the brisket and St. Louis rib combo. I was impressed by the brisket. It was very tender, juicy, and smokey enough. Only area it could be little better was the amount of fat. I normally like a little fat left on my brisket, but this version had a little too much even for me. The ribs are pretty good here as well. Again just smokey enough, not dry, and they have the right amount of tenderness for me. I like there to be a little pull to get the meat. The only other knock I have on the BBQ is that there’s not a go to sauce for me. They’re all okay, but none are exceptional.
The sides were pretty ordinary. I had mashed potatoes and gravy along with fire roasted corn. They made a mistake and brought out the wrong sides with a couple orders, but fixed it and left us with the extra sides free of charge. The baked beans were a little too firm. Other than the sides mix up, service was great.

seven reason I will not return:
1. soups listed on the menu were not available
2. asked for my soup before my meal, that didn’t happen
3. ordered the broccoli cheddar soup… it was cold and basically just broccoli with cold cheese sauce dumped on top, I was not even offered a spoon to eat said cold soup with. (husband spit it out, that’s how bad it was)
4. when we told the waitress she asked if we wanted something else, we said just give us a donut instead, we were already ½ way finished with the meal by the time she came back to check on us. (service was lacking) (I’m still waiting on my water refill)
5. the manager took off the soup off the bill (for my husbands). well sort of the $.99 up charge was removed, so that means he paid for original side that should have been included but didn’t get to eat it. I got a soup/​sandwich so they couldn’t take my soup off
6. they gave us a whole bag of donuts and charged us the full amount for them, not what we asked for. we just wanted a donut to eat there instead of our soup.
7. whats worse, the manager never once came to the table. horrible

The food was great, and the service was ok, till I got my food then it was nonexistent. Never approached after it was delivered, and had to wait on everything after that, and the bar was NOT busy

Awful customer service. Waited 15 min to be waited on at the bar, and it wasn’t that busy. Everyone there was completely rude and to busy talking with each other to take an order. I love smokey bones but will never return to this location!

My son and I arrived a little before 5, today Sunday the12th. The hostess asked us if we would mind sitting at a high table and we said no. For the next twenty minutes we waited for service. The bartender saw us, several servers saw us, and yet we couldn’t order. People came in and sat at the bar and were able to order drinks and food before we could order drinks.
There was a large table behind us and a male server stopped at that table to make sure everything was ok. We hoped he would at least say something to us sitting there with the menus still on the table.
Finally, we left. We went a blocked down to the O’Charleys, had a great meal and wonderful service.

found this on a recent trip to Grove City. The interior was really interesting and I loved the «Boneisms» (although not sure how family friendly some of them are). Food was overall tasty, but nothing too incredible. I had their smoked wings which, some were a little dry while some were just right, and the dry rub was a little overpowering. fries were tasty though and I enjoyed the choice of BBQ sauces that were available at the table.
overall, not a bad meal but I don’t know if I would come back. I was disappointed that the beef brisket was only available after 4. I imagine that could be pretty tasty

I had a very pleasurable experience here. The service was excellent. We didn’t wait long for our meals. I highly recommend the Brunswick Stew. I had a Cuban with turkey rather than pork. It was good, but nothing special. I would try a different sandwich next time. We had mini doughnuts for dessert and loved them. I would definitely make a return visit.

Im from Texas and this place brought me back home. For our appetizer my wife and I got the skillet cornbread[pretty damn good]. For our entrée I got The baby back ribs and barbecue chicken breast with two sides. My wife got the pulled pork with two sides. Taste was all there. They even have 5 different barbecue sauces you can add on top of everything. Will definitely come back when in need of a barbecue fix.

Stopped in here after our pilgrimage to the outlet mall and so very glad we did. The signs on the wall will give you a few chuckles (like the bears do it in the woods over the restroom area) and the high top tables around the bar are great to eat at.
We had two garden salads which were quite good (none of that bag of salad smell or taste) and hubs went for the full rack of baby back ribs. They were TASTY!!! And that was enough to eat there and have some for later in the evening. I had the create a combo of pulled pork and smoked turkey.
City BBQ still kicks arse with their smoked turkey but the pulled pork was none too shabby. Our server was very friendly and fast too. If in the area again will surely head back in.
