I have had breakfast and lunch at Roots and I can say the food and service are exceptional. Pulled pork was fabulous and wife’s beet salad with steak was even better. Highly recommend. Food is definitely not ho hum, and pricing is reasonable.

Food is very ho hum and a bit pricy for what you get. It just recently opened and the owner is very nice, I’ll give them a little time to sort things out and try Roots again.

Go. Just go! Wonderful new café with a comfortable and inviting feel. Had a delicious latte(extra foam) and banana bread. Scrumptious and reasonably priced. This will definitely be a regular spot for my family.

Might be good. The hours posted here say they are open on Sunday. My sister and I drove an hour each to meet here only to find it closed. And the posted hours there say they are not open Sunday. Wish they would make up their mind.

I’m so happy to have a new café nearby with fresh, delicious breakfast and lunch. The staff were very friendly, and it’s beautiful and cozy inside. I definitely recommend for someone looking for something outside the normal Panera or diner food

Have been wanting to try Roots for a while. Groton is very lucky to have this little gem. The ingredients in my omelet were very fresh. Nice to have an omelet that wasn’t greasy. The whole wheat toast was hot and crunchy. It’s hard to please this coffee-holic, but their brew was great. It will be lunch next time. Can’t wait to try the fish tacos.

I’ve stopped for their coffee a couple of times and it’s great. Very nice to have an Eco-friendly coffee that is a smooth roast which is not too harsh or watered down. Stayed for breakfast and had the French Toast with berry compote that was served hot and was delicious!

We got to try Roots(what was the old Main Street Café, now under new ownership). The food was perfectly executed and the staff is very friendly. I am excited for another quality establishment in Groton center. Try the taco plate — excellent pulled pork!

Finally got a chance to eat here this morning, and loved it! We got in just under the wire(10:30am) for breakfast. I ordered a sausage, egg, and cheddar sandwich with a side of potatoes. My husband got the open faced BLT. The potato portion was big enough to split, esp bc husband’s sandwich was so large. Potatoes were great, but included lots of pepper and onion — which I love, but a heads up if you dont. For drinks, we had iced coffee and hot tea. We loved everything across the board. Husband really loved the coffee. We ordered at counter and stayed in on café side. Service was friendly and attentive. Looking forward to stopping in after yoga more often!

Owners are friendly and have a catering business under their belt,(which is a huge step up from the last owners quality wise). This shows as the food is polished, with good flavors, and a focused menu. My wife and I both shared the pita chips with goat cheese and grilled corn dip. The dip was amazing, and my wife would have stolen the recipe if she had the chance. The pita chips were really bad. They were so hard I could barely bite into them, had to use my back teeth. I’ll try them again sometime when it’s not as busy. I had the steak sandwich, which was soft and not stringy at all, which was nice(hate it when steak sandwiches pull half the steak out in a bite). Wife had the prosciutto sandwich, which she also liked. There was a semi-automatic espresso machine(again step up from before), but no decafe coffee =( Re: Some of these other reviews… it’s not the best restaurant in groton, nor fine dining… but that’s because it’s not a full service restaurant(that I know of), it’s a solid breakfast/lunch spot(haven’t tried the 2 dinner plates) and it’s a good one at that.

Delicious, creative food in a cozy atmosphere! My husband loved the meatball arugula pizza and light, fluffy cheesecake, I was smitten with the subtle tang of ginger in the oh so pretty bean soup, and our daughter enjoyed the banana bread and the spinach feta puffs. I made it in for breakfast recently as well and was not disappointed by the thick sliced French toast and yummy yogurt parfait. The wood and natural tones invite you to stay and linger over a second cup of coffee and the owners are genuinely friendly and hospitable. I left with a full stomach and a beautiful alpaca scarf sold in the owner’s discreet but very discriminating in store boutique. Finally, a place in Groton that combines three of my great loves: food, fashion and a place to share time with friends! Roots café and bistro has it all!

A great new option for breakfast or lunch in Groton! Freshest ingredients with friendly, fast service! I’ve stopped in for lunch and ordered take-out for the crew. There’s a good range of sandwich choices on fresh-baked rolls but Roots Café also offers flatbread pizza, soup and wraps. They serve breakfast, too, with a varied, innovative menu including my favorite — breakfast sandwiches. No factory processed food here! Prices are reasonable given the quality and scratch nature of the kitchen — and the space has been upgraded in an upscale casual style. The owners are from town, so they know and understand their customers — and have created a great, new eatery in the heart of Groton.

A great new option for breakfast or lunch in Groton. Chef Josiah has a great way of combining the freshest ingredients in original ways, so he’s always updating the classics. These roots produce food you’ll want to return for. Also cool how they’ve redone the interior using reclaimed wood and earth colors. I felt at home immediately.
