Downgrading a star since Steak Diana(which in the past has always been superb), this time had what seemed to be a lower-grade steak… It used to be a great dish… don’t skimp on the quality.

Love this place! The staff is all very friendly every time I go in. If there is ever an issue just let your server know and they will be more than happy to accommodate you. I dine here semi-regularly and the food is always delicious. I’m a picky eater so I almost always make modifications, but I’m pretty sure they cook everything to order so it’s never a problem. Would recommended this place for anyone looking for a yummy meal

Great food, the bus person was the best service. The waitress however was the worst service I have received in a very long time. Ignoring us, making us feel like we were bothering her. The bus boy should replace the waitress.

First time trying and I loved it! I ordered the pasta divan and it was so good! I ordered carry out and the food was ready when I got there. The bread and salad was great! I would definitely go back to sit in because the place is so cozy and nice.

Excellent service, food is delicious and hot when served! Salads are served on chilled plates and are fresh and crisp. Their bartender is great –best gin ‘n tonic and martini in town! Small restaurant in size but big on class!

The food’s really good but over priced for the portion sizes you get, in my opinion. We typically order a 3rd entrée of cannelloni to suffice to the small entrée sizes but then end up with a $ 50-$ 60 carry out for 2 and were not big eaters or larger people. If the food quality or taste ever even slightly diminishes, I doubt we’d return. Minestrone soup is my favorite. Chicken parm is good and so is the chicken francese. Service has been solid the dozen or so times we have been.

Wife had the Pollo Di Mare and I the Veal Picatta. I thought that my dish had a great taste with the lemon but it was served luke warm which was a tad bit disappointing. What kept me from complaining or asking it to get heated was that our waitress was working her tail off already. We came in around 5:30ish on a weekday. Seated immediately but they were swamped. Someday we will try again!

My lady and I went to this place for an anniversary. It was her choice and she loves Italian food(as do I), so we went here because we had both heard good things about it. First of all, the parking lot is pretty small. If you get a spot you will consider yourself lucky. Park in the back, entrance in the front. When you walk in you notice the place is of the smaller variety, but it’s pretty cozy. We got seated by the door and my girlfriend got some cold chills when people entered and exited, but it wasn’t too bad overall. The service is solid. The waiter was on top of things from start to finish, and another employee(a bus boy, I guess) came by and made sure we were good with bread and what not. And the bread — pretty damn good. It was addicting to eat, especially on an empty stomach. They provide this tomato-olive oil type sauce with the bread. It’s unique and tasted good, with a nice little kick to it. We enjoyed the bread with a couple Sam Adam’s Rebel IPA’s — the only ‘craft beer’ in the establishment(and the place serves no draft beers, FYI). For our meals she got the cannaloni, which is a vegetarian dish and is pasta filled with spinach and ricotta cheese with Alfredo sauce on top of it. She loved it. As for me, I got the shrimp scampi and it came with veggies(peppers, zucchini, squash) and the shrimp was on top of angel hair pasta… it was quite good, and when I ate the whole meal I didn’t feel THAT full afterward. I mean that in a good way, as sometimes I’ll eat Italian at other places and feel like I need to explode when the dinner’s over. Both meals also came with salads, and I upgraded to a Caesar salad which was like $ 2.50 extra. Oh well, I love Caesar. The house Romano dressing was pretty good too. For four beers, shrimp scampi, cannaloni and salad the meal turned out to cost about $ 50(before tip), which wasn’t too bad at all for a nice night on the town for a special occasion. I enjoyed the place and recommend it to Italian lovers everywhere. Someone in another review compared the food to Olive Garden, and that’s just laughable because this place is much more authentic!

I’ve been a few times in the past, but had kind of forgotten about it as a place to go. I was looking for something in the mid-range price but decent food to go out to dinner with friends, actually a bit of a challenge in the Grosse Pointes. I’m happy to report we all enjoyed our meals. I would say nothing is ‘authentic’ Italian, and you shouldn’t expect to be blown away, after all, it is a chain restaurant. But, that said, the bread is fresh and they cut in on a cutting board in sight, so you can see your bread being cut up and put in the basket before they bring it to your table, so you know you’re getting fresh bread.(I’m always a little suspect about what I’m getting at some places — recycled from the last diner? Sitting in the back for hours?) Our salads were good and the creamy romano was yummy if a bit heavy handed. If I go back I’ll ask for it on the side so I can lighten it up a bit. I had veal parmesan and my boyfriend had chicken parmesan, they were both good, not over the top, but good, both came with a side of pasta. I really liked the sauce — it was dense and had an interesting richness to it, almost a savoriness. Our friends had chicken tosca and pasta mezzagiorno, they substituted the caesar salads. They were both very happy. I had a chianti which was complementary and my bf had a chardonnay. Our waiter was young but competent and friendly. He checked in with us frequently and kept things moving at a pace we were comfortable with. Entrees are in the $ 13 – 17 range for most, with plenty of things in the $ 13 range, so unless you’re going to a diner or fast food, you’re not getting a decent meal much cheaper. All in all, we enjoyed it and I’m pretty sure I’ll go back now that I’ve re-discovered it. They don’t take reservations, but if you call ahead about 15 – 20 minutes before you are going, they’ll put your name on their waiting list and then seat you when you get there more quickly. I did that and our table was ready when we got there.(A little weird, isn’t that kind of like a reservation?, anyways, it worked.) Oh yea, one weird thing that just popped into my head — I almost fell about 3 times, for some reason the wood floor is really slippery. I was wearing boots with a low heel and a rubber type sole, so I have no idea why I was slipping, so SS people — might want to look into that.

I totally love this place. Eggplant Parmesan, creamy Romano salad dressing, and bread with olive oil… I was glad another location popped up. Clean. Quaint. One of my favorite restaurants. Delicious food, good prices, large portions, how can you go wrong?

Excellent Italian food. We’ve dined in and ordered carry out for many years. The food is flavorful and consistent. One of the better Italian restaurants on Mack Ave.

It’s like Olive Garden, but without the good soup, salad and bread. Shrimp dishes are way over cooked, and the shrimp are garbage. Bland sauces, nothing special. Out-of-the-box italian. Easy to make at home in 15 minutes.

There are so many fantastic Italian restaurants in the area… Why would you waste your money here? Slow service and subpar Italian food.

Having grown up in Soprano land and spending some time there recently caring for my parents, let’s say I know good Italian food when I taste it. If you’re looking for good value, Salvatore Scallopini is a good destination, but the food LACKSGARLIC! I took my friends there recently and we had an enjoyable evening. The restaurant décor is dated, but it is intimate and not too noisy. Service is good, although our server forgot the calamari appetizer. The house salads were fresh, but the dressings were standard fare. I had the steak diane, which was seared just as ordered, but the sauce never gave me an ah-hah moment. My friends enjoyed their ravioli and scampi a great deal. SS is a small regional chain. Definitely a step above the Olive Garden, and better value than Macaroni Grill, with comparable food.

2 wonderful meals here and I’m hooked. This location is a bit nicer than some of the other Salvatores. Darker, softer lighting, better service, décor that goes beyond the red and the checked. The creamy Romano salad dressing had me swooning, they’ve got some very nice wines, and the eggplant parm is a warm, luscious plate o’ goodness! The vibe? Lively, yet subdued. Just a lovely time here for dinner. Aah.

i literally just got back from this place and my husband had to roll me into the house. The food is SOSO good. i had the eggplant parm and my husband had the fettuccine with chicken. In fact he is singing«I’m so fat» to no particular tune as i write this because we ate ourselves silly. The service was awesome. The crowd was on the older side but totally chill. The salad that came with the meal was kind of lame as was the cold plain bread, but the actual food made up for it. I’m most def going back as soon as my pants fit me again…

This place is a solid go-to Italian restaurant. The food is good, and so is the service. The pizza looks great, we were watching them hand toss the pizza dough! It is very small, and parking is also limited… but so are many places off Mack in Grosse Pointe.
