The most authentic Venezuelan food in town you will find. The owner takes care of every detail and is very hospitable. Overall, very good service and high quality food.

Garrido’s Bistro is among the finest restaurants I’ve ever been to. And I’m not embellishing. Every thing about it, the diverse menu, perfect atmosphere, and fantastic staff culminates in a truly unique and enjoyable dining experience. No single aspect of this place has yet to disappoint. The food is amazing, fresh, authentic, and delicious. And it’s remarkably affordable. I’d give it six stars if I could. Try the deep fried cheesecake.

I was in town for the weekend and decided to Unilocal a restaurant. I found this one as it was close by our house. The restaurant is located in a charming little town. It was later in the afternoon so it wasn’t too busy which was perfect. I ordered the shrimp and garlic flat bread– amazing! The shrimp was so flavorful and did not lack any spices or seasoning! As I was enjoyed my perfectly crisp and soft on the inside flatbread I saw they offered lomo Saltado with fries! I’m a huge fan of lomo Saltado after my trip to Peru and it’s very rare to find it here in the states. So I asked the waitress(owner) and she said they did have it. I highly recommended this dish! To my delight it was better than the one I had in Peru! You can tell every item here is carefully made and it’s done with love– the flavor a always shows in the food the love you put into it. Kudos to the chef. Overall, friendly service, amazing food! Only thing– make sure to carry change for street parking meters. Looking forward to visiting Grosse point again to stop by!

My girlfriend and I were tired of the same limited fare along Mack Ave. and decided to try Garrido’s purely on Unilocal search result for nearby eateries. How long had this been here? Why haven’t I even heard of it? The restaurant has a casual, bistro style, atmosphere, and though a bit brightly lit for the time of day(8:30pm) still felt comfortable and cozy. We were immediately greeted and presented with the night’s specials and a menu. It’s different. I mean, I had to google what some of the dishes were(too shy to ask, I guess). But the menu seemed to have something for anyone. The FOOD! We started with one of their blended teas, which were amazing combinations of flavor and aroma. Really pleasant. A basket of AMAZING seasoned Garlic bread was brought out. Very buttery and heavy garlic which was perfect! For a starter, we had the Salpicon with plantain chips. Salpicon is scallops, shrimp, and calamari marinated almost like ceviche in a lime based marinade and you eat it on plantain chips. Delicious! The Arapas are like a corn flower bun sandwich. I had the«Brunette» which was filled with the most delicious juicy pulled beef and some peppers. Perhaps the most delicious pulled beef I have had. My girlfriend had the«Mermaid» which was loaded with the most delicious garlicky shrimp and onion which, when the juices soaked Into the corn wrap a bit, made for the most amazing flavorful bites. As we left the owners and staff all said thanks and goodnight. Our experience left me wanting to try the entire menu, and we will be returning. TRYGARRIDO’S!

Met with friends and tried this restaurant for the first time. The restaurant was suggested by our new friends and we happily agreed with the selection especially after reading the reviews. Here are our experience. — The service is superb. The wait staff continuously refill our special request hot water. — The food is good and interesting. We had seafood pasta with tomato and paella. I like the seafood past better, but Both of them are good. The bread is also very yummy. — We shared salad and plantain banana with our friends. Our friends know the restaurant and they clearly know what to order! Enjoyed my experience and we will be back.

Well never had a chance to eat?! weird experience, walked in sat down, waitress came over gave us menu’s, came back said sorry it’s gonna be about 5 min wait? ok, then comes back and states, sorry more like a 45 min wait? I said all we want is a salad perhaps … 45 mins for a salad? so we left. do not understand why she said that, should have just taken our order and served some bread or appetizer. why would you tell a customer that and shoo them away, I don’t think I would go back don’t have the time… need new waitress…

I was pretty disappointed at this place. When I first walked in, I thought i went into the wrong place, because the setup is like a café/coffee shop rather than a restaurant. This place is tiny. We came here for lunch and we were the only people in this«restaurant». We ordered Brunette Arepas($ 9.50) and Paella($ 17.50). The Brunette was pretty good. It is Venezuelan pulled Beef wrapped with rice type of bun. The bun is crispy and the pulled beef is really juicy and flavorful. However, the portion is way too small to be $ 9.50. It is like charging a hambuger for $ 9.50. and it did not come with any side. I really think it is over-priced. Even though it is pretty good, but i am not sure i would drive here to just pay $ 9.50 for this. The Paella was really disappointing. The seafood were not so fresh esp the mussels. Initially, i thought the rice texture taste kinda hard, but when i am half way through my plate, I really start believing the rice were probably not fulled cooked… At the end, we got a dessert for checking into Unilocal.Quesillo(Venezuelan Custard Flan)…I was disappointed again. I have tried many different flan at different places. its flan’s texture is not tender… and it doesn’t taste like it was made on the same day… Its customer service was horrible. We were the ONLY two people in the restaurant. and there was only one server who was on her laptop/phone the entire time. We had to wave our hand to ask her to give us the check or ask for stuffs… I am not sure why the food got charged for its price. esp the setup doesn’t really remind of me being in a real restaurant. Overall dining experience was not good. I would not recommend this place, because it is over-priced, food was just alright, and its customer service was bad.

We’ve recently discovered their Arepas — a corn pancake sandwich, with many options for fillings. Crispy on the outside, the inside soft and steamy. My personal fav is the«queen» — stuffed with shredded chicken and avocado. My hubs loves the blueberry French toast — made with French baguette. It’s high on our list of places to grab brunch on a Sunday. Service is exceptional.

Just ate brunch here after the owner kindly let me in at the end of the day.(Didn’t realize I was being That Guy™, but they were so kind!) I enjoyed some hot tea and a chicken avocado salad in a cachapas. I haven’t had Venezuelan food before nor did I expect to see it in my little corner of Michigan… But I’ll tell you what I do know: sandwiches. And this sandwich was delicious. The cachapas was perfectly fried and the warm buttery taste of the corn/bready pocket was an excellent contrast to the cold, creamy chicken salad inside. Truthfully, the taste stands out so distinctly in my mind I’ll likely have a craving for it again, though I’ll make sure my timing is better next time. The tea was enjoyable as well. Using a timer, my herbal tea was perfectly brewed by their staff. So good. I’ll be back to enjoy it on a chilly day! I’d say definitely come by and give them a shot. I can’t wait to try some of the more traditional menu items!

In for the holidays we were recommended this restaurant which has Venezuelan food a rarity in GP or metro Detroit area in general. The menu is a combination of brunch, lunch and heavier dinner type meals, but the highlight for me is the collection of different arepa sandwiches(arepas are a traditional flat bread). The filings range from vegan to meats so there is something for everyone. I was also able to ask for my arepa to be grilled instead of fried because I am gf. My only complaints would be that we had to wait rather long when there really weren’t too many people in there and that my arepa was very oily most likely from being pan fried instead of grilled, but still very delicious. Overall though would definitely come back next time I am in town.

Garrido’s is interesting and has food unlike any other place around the area. I’ve been twice, once for their incredible french toast covered in blueberry sauce, and again where I tried the corn fritter, chorizo and cheese sandwich thing. It was really good and incredibly filling. I also got a chai tea which they steeped using tea leaves, not a bag, in a cute little tea pot with my own timer. My son ordered a blueberry infused tea. We thought both were delicious. My son also got 2 corn fritter sandwiches, which turned out to be almost one too many. He wasn’t expecting them to be so large, and he couldn’t finish them. It’s a family owned place, they are very nice and make you feel so welcome. The décor is simple but clean and bright and cheery. Give it a try.

We were there for lunch with some friends, we all from Europe. I have to say that is the restaurant with the most similar food to Spain I have tried in Metro Detroit area. The paella is really good, the carpaccio as well. The deserts incredible. The service was perfect and everything went very fast. I have to say that I will come back. Muchas gracias!!!

Just ok. I was excited to try this place as I’m from Miami and you hardly get any Latin food I’m GP outside of Mexican. Was a bit disappointed that they were out of chicken? I mean come on now. and confused by a menu that is seems a bit all over the place — Venezuelan arepas, Italian dishes, Caesar salads? Paella? I guess they’re trying to cater to the area but I was hoping for something more authentic. I settled for the seafood pasta which I was disappointed with — the photos showed jumbo shrimp, but what came out was miniature shrimp and a mussels and squid. It was just ok — felt like I could’ve made it at home. My fiancé had the brunette arepa which he raved about. The plantain chips were good too, except a little on the thick side versus what I am accustom to.(My fiancé chipped his crown on them so be careful!) We took advantage of the free dessert check-in special which was also a disappointing — the raspberry cheesecake. Ugh I hate mediocre dining experiences and really wanted to like this place. Will probably be back to try the arepas but not much else on the menu. I’m surprised at all of the rave reviews and wish I had the same experience they did.

I’m in heaven! We stopped in for dessert. I had the flan, and also the herbal tea. Also ordered the chocolate mousse cake… amazing. So divine! Plus Vanessa is so hospitable! What an adorable spot! Just stop in to try something and support this nice couple. They have coupons in the GP booster club, FYI.

Omgs the arepas are to die for! So crunchy! The flatbread & filling goes so well together. It’s also very filling. My first and won’t be my last time here. These are such a hit. Never had anything so crispy & delicious before. I would recommend the mermaid & the queen. Their flan is also phenomenon. It’s so creamy & the sauce are all made from real fruits. Really happy that I finally got to try this place!

One of the best places for lunch in Grosse Pointe area(if not Metro Detroit). All of the food is very flavorful and is delicious. My wife and I had the Caesar Salad, Chicken & Avocado Sandwich, a dish similar to ceviche and the flan. Excellent! The service was great and we will be returning soon.

Came here twice because the food is really good that made me and dad decided to come back for the breakfast. Got the same dishes just the same as our first time, except I got 2 eggs & bacon arepas and Blueberry Infusion tea! And since I come the second time, I also notice that the arepa itself(made from cornmeal) isn’t as good as the first time. For the first time, when I ate to ½ of the arepa, it’s still crunchy and I still can taste the eggs and bacon. For the second time, when I got to half of arepa, all i tasted in my mouth was cornmeal, for both arepas that I had today. Either the arepas were thicker this time, or it could be because we were the first ones came in today so the thing that they use to make arepas wasn’t warm enough? The waitress said to me next time I can ask them to make a little crunchier when ordering. Maybe it’s just me, but the first time I tried it was already crunchy and perfect itself, But that is great! I can make it even more perfect! But that doesn’t stop me and dad coming back to this place! Because they have good service, good food, new dishes to experience. My dad’s dish is exactly as good as the first time besides the ‘complaint’: the French toasts this time were bigger than last time! More good foooood!

We were trying to find where to go after church and we remembered seeing this in GP news. Small menu but beautiful atmosphere. Family run. We will do our best to support this burgeoning restaurant as much as we can. My daughter even wants to work there. Needs a little more manpower if they get busy but I hope they survive. The French toast was great forgot to take picture. And the Arrepas were amazing. The potato croquettes were great too with the avocado sauce. Even great for kids with the cheese Arrepas
