Superior bar food. Not awesome but perfectly good, standard, American pub fare with above average pizza(especially better than crappy Green Zone) and burgers, great service and reasonable pricing. Draft beer in 36 oz glasses– big plus. The bar is always lively and there is a small arcade to entertain the brats in the back(a growing rarity).

We thought we would give the Village Grille another try since we were hungry and did not feel like driving too far. Absolutely nothing has changed about this place. We were seated in a reasonable amount of time and then completely ignored for nearly a half hour, and the place was about 2⁄3 empty. It was not busy at all. When we finally were able to place our drink order, with the waitress with a very poor attitude and sour disposition, it took another 10 minutes to receive the drinks. We decided to order our food when we received our drinks because who knows when we would see this«waitress» again. We each ordered burgers and when they were brought out, 35 minutes later, they were cold and had absolutely no taste at all. After we finished eating our bland food we waited almost 20 minutes for our bill to arrive. I should also mention that at no point while we were eating did the waitress come by to ask if we needed a drink refill or to ask how the food was. It is almost as if she knew how crappy it was and didn’t want to be told about it. Obviously the owner of this«restaurant» does not care and it is reflected in the attitude of his /her employees. With food that tastes like it came from the reject bin at Gordon Food Service and such rude employees this place does not deserve to be in Grosse Pointe. Seriously, you can get better food and service at the ballpark. Grosse Pointe deserves better than the Village Grille.

Worst place I’ve ever been in every category. They have to be the most rude people I’ve ever come across. The food is also garbage. This is only the second review I’ve ever written but I had to say something.

½ off pizza with two beverages is a great deal on Monday nights. The Chicken Rancher salad is still a favorite, although the serving size is a bit too much for me. I also like the Chicken Rancher pita which is the salad without the lettuce. Service is sometimes a little slow.

I went here with friends last night, we were out just about the whole day. A friend always talked about their pizza, and as many people I love pizza and love to try different places. Great pizza! Anyway I’m in the industry, I’ve worked in the food industry and night club industry for many years. We were all sitting in the bar area, as we ordered our food and we ate. It was time to leave, I didn’t know that a friend had already asked for boxes, so I asked the barback if he could please grab me a couple boxes. And he did but what happened next was completely uncalled for! He threw the boxes at me and said«when you ask with an attitude you get treated with a sh*tty attitude! This is by far the worst CUSTOMERSERVICEEVER in my 12 years in the industry have I ever seen this to happen. I will never ever step foot in that place again! And none of my friends will be going there either! I wish I could give negative stars but I can’t!!! You need to retrain your EMPLOYEES and teach them no matter how crappy of a day they’re having they should NEVEREVER take it out on the customers! THEWORSTSERVICEEVER!

It’s a decent sit down restaurant in a nice part of GP, right on the corner by Trader Joe’s. I ordered fettuccine Alfredo and it was pretty big and delicious. It was one of the best fettuccine plates I’ve had in quite a while to be honest. I was happy with that. The Ceasar salad was pretty good as well, although it was a dollar extra to come with the meal. Meh. The SO enjoyed her pizza, which I believe was Margarita style. I tried it and it was alright. The problem here is the service. We walked in and barely got a rise out of any staff members. It was pretty much empty around 6 p.m. on a Sunday evening and there were seats galore. We got seated in the far corner booth and… were completely forgotten about. We sat and sat, thirsty for beers. Nothing. My SO’s father actually got up and told a random bus boy that we hadn’t been served, so finally this aloof waitress comes and does the whole apology routine. It was just pretty unprofessional. The plus is that the food isn’t bad and it comes out pretty fast, and they have a few good beers on tap. Fix the service and it can be better.

WORST. SERVICE. EVER. Bartenders can’t be bothered to wait on you. When they do, they stand around and talk smack about the customers. They do have many tvs, but every time I’ve been in here, there is Fox News on tv and no sports, even when there’s a baseball or football game being played. They do not have the football package, so you only get the nationally televised games. When you do want to watch sports, you better know what channel it’s on, because they don’t, and won’t look. The only exception is Tammy, who works days, and is very pleasant and attentive. Walk down a few doors to City Kitchen. They ALWAYS have the game on, the place is very clean, the bartenders are friendly, and they have good food.

Food leaves a lot to be desired. Bar area is nice, but the dining room has zero atmosphere.

I had the fish and chips for lunch. The batter was very stretchy and gummy, Not crispy at all. The fries were ok but greasy. The best part of the meal was the clam chowder soup and tartar sauce(except for the fry I found in the tartar sauce, kinda gross).

Occasionally this place will be good other times it is definitely lacking. Generally the service is mediocre. The beer selection isn’t that impressive either. The positives are the bbq chicken pizza and chicken pita rancher, but be sure to order the pizza as a square. Prices are a bit pricey for what you get in my option but since it is in grosse pointe it is expected and accepted by the patrons of the Village Grill. I recommend it only if you are in this area and want to watch sports while you eat as there are not many sports bars in the GP area with decent food.

The food here is pretty terrible. Think Applebee’s on a local level. I would never order anything other than sandwich or one of their common appetizers. If you were bold enough to order an entrée … you have been warned. The only reason this place survives is the great bar area. A big, S-shaped bar with plenty of seating and lots of other high top tables all surrounded by TVs. Lots of beer on tap and everything is priced right. The bathroom is possibly the worst in GP. The pisser is right next to the sink so I hope you’re not too shy when taking a whiz when someone is –hopefully– washing their hands. It also generally stinks in there and the trash is always overflowing. Again, it’s all about the bar. They do have a nice patio where you can watch the hipster doofuses coming out of Starbucks & Moose Preserve; a bonus, I guess.

My friend and I just stopped in here for lunch after visiting our friend at the hospital. The food was good. We each got a salad. My beer and her glass of wine were warm. The service was terrible. Not only were the waitresses and bartender not attentive, but they were down right rude. I wish we would have gone to Panera. I wouldn’t waste your time with this place.

Popular place amongst the GP crowd however it lacks atmosphere. The food is good and reliable but nothing special. I typically sit in the bar area however on this visit we sat in the dining area. The wall in the booth was filthy with actual food stuck to it. The light fixtures and rafters were covered in spider webs. Kids game room was dirty as well.

Decent food, but terrible service. Sitting at the bar and the bartender has barely paid me attention. Attitude like she’d rather not be here. Luckily the beer selection makes up for it a bit. When I can get her attention to order one.

Pub trivia was the only reason me and my friends stopped up here on a weeknight. We all ordered appetizers and drinks. Ambiance: Ok. It was a warm, sophisticated pub/restaurant vibe. Bathrooms were clean and cozy. Tables and chairs were nice. I liked the space. Plenty of TVs, so watching the Pistons game and the MNF game was a bonus. Large bar area and a separate dinning room that looked big as well. Service: Needs improvement. Our waitress was on the young side. She was not very efficient at handling a larger group(there were 8 of us). She was attentive, but just needed to get into the serving«groove» to be a great server worthy of a 20−25% tip. Nice enough person, though. Food: Really bad. None of us were blown away with what we had. My own app, the Artichoke & Spinach Dip was the worst I have had. I could tell it was microwaved, because it came out of the kitchen 4 minutes after the waitress left our table, and there was no brown bubbly top. It was barley warm throughout, served with stale, thin white tortilla chips. They also threw on about 6 bready-pita-wedge-type things that were so greasy, I could actually squeeze grease from them. The bottom of the dip itself was very oily. Bummer. It is so easy to execute a decent Spinach & Artichoke Dip! Another of my group ordered a burger that had a really, really shiny bun. The cheese sticks he ordered were not as hot as they should have been, the cheese was not runny. Also, just gave ranch not marinara as well. The nachos were also ordered, and had more of the same stale tortilla chips, this time cemented together with shredded cheese, and greasy taco beef. It was sick. I would advise to skip the food here. The Village Grille may be a good place to grab beers and watch sports, but please spend your money on better food elsewhere.

Came in during the week for quick lunch. I ordered a simple plate, white fish encrusted with mozzarella on it. Waiter comes back with 1.Very watery coke 2.White fish with no flavor, the kitchen forgot to season the fish and they never seared it with the mozzarella. 3. They potatoes on the plate tasted old and soggy, also no flavor After a few bites, i tell the waiter the problem with the fish, he says«ok» proceeds to grab the plate so that the kitchen can inspect the plate. He comes back with the same fish i had a few bites of which looked like it had been grabbed from the plate and simply tossed back onto the grill to sear with some flavor including the cheese. He comes back and says ‘the kitchen apologizes”. Didn’t even offer to knock off the pop from the receipt. I think its safe to say that i will NEVER spend a dollar here again.
