This is the place to go for big city style fine dining in a small town. The place itself is a work of art. Linda and David have put their hearts and souls into this place and it shows. 6th Street Pier is known for its bold flavors, friendly service and unbeatable ambience. There’s a large dining area as you walk in the door. There to greet you when you arrive is a friendly host and hostess that will seat you or show you to the bar. There are two bars, one in the front dining area and another huge one in a casual backroom dining area. Behind the bar you will meet Vikki and Jessica who are both masters in the art of making cocktails. There’s a large patio for hosting parties that also opens directly onto the street in the Spring and Summer. There’s also a outside garden at back of the restaurant for smokers. However, the full service sushi bar may be the best kept secret. 6th Street Pier has it all! There menu covers the tried and true classics to the California sushi roll to the Super Crunch roll. 6th Street Pier has something for everyone so if you find yourself passing through Griffin or a local, stop by and have a one of kind experience. This place will leave you wondering what took you so long to get here.

Went here for my birthday and really enjoyed the food and the service. Aaron, our server, was very helpful and personable. We had the surf & turf with crab cakes and salmon. My ribeye was excellent but the crabcakes stole the show! Will definitely be back!

Absolutely one of my most favorite restaurants anywhere! I’ve been there several times and it is always good. The atmosphere is always laid back and comfortable. Last night I tried the Maverick Grits. WOW were they great. Shrimp, oysters, scallops, and andouille sausage, fantastic! We also had the ACME Oysters which were wonderful. I could keep going. What a jewel to have in little ol Griffin.

I would not choose to go here again unless I was with a group who wished to. The customer service is spotty, depending on who will be taking care of you that night. Some of the food is delicious — others could go for a another taste test in the kitchen. There have been times when I have requested a certain meal or menu item and have been flat out told that the cook didn’t want to make it, or that it was going to take too long for him to do. They have a very large alcohol menu, one of the only restaurants in town that serves many kinds of wines, cocktails, and martinis. The atmosphere is very calm and relaxing, though it’s honestly too dark to be optimal. If it weren’t for the Christmas lights and randomly lit décor I wouldn’t be able to see across the table.

We usually eat here at least once a week. They have some of the best sushi around and very friendly wait staff

Had the experience of eating here a few months ago while I was in Georgia. Rarely does someone take the time to write a review after having dined so long ago but thinking of Griffin made me remember how wonderful the 6th St. was. As a Californian who has spent many years dining around the thousands of food micro cultures in my state, I found this upscale place in rural GA a perfect competitor to those on the left coast. The staff was well prepared to explain the menu and offer up their ideas of what might be the signature dish for our evening. Will definitely be back next time I’m in town!!!

Poor service with rude management. Mediocre food. I have been several times and continue to get poor service. The food has been hit or miss. It has a neat atmosphere, but the service has been a big turn off. We will not be back.

Awful service. If you go here be prepared to wait for a long time on your food. Then once you get yours it could be 10 – 15 mins before everyone at the table has their food too. Have heard from SEVERAL of my friends that they complain about small children a lot. Also had a complaint of a mother with 2 small children that stopped to talk to a family member at the bar on her way out and was asked to leave because kids couldn’t be at the bar(this was after she dropped over $ 50 to eat there and was clearly leaving). Support your local community at one of Griffin’s other fine restaurants. JHenry’s, Bankstreet, Slices, or heck even McDonalds has better service than here.

Waited over an hour just to have our waiter tell us he forgot to put our order in… Food came out wrong and tasted sour and overall bad. Manager came over and addressed the issues as «growing pains» and said the kitchen made the food wrong.(Wonder what this means, glad I spit the food out in my napkin.) Then they decide they are going to do me the favor of just taking off my food from the bill. When I asked for a discount due to the two hour horrible experience for my other dinner companions, the waiter just stood there and and looked at me like I was asking for something unheard of… All I can say is I will never be back

New to the area and thought we would check out another new place for us! Pleasantly surprised by the eclectic ambiance, welcoming interior and abundant seating! Our server seemed to be fairly new but told us about a decent happy hour! We started with the crab cakes, which were large and tasty, almost a meal in themselves! Husband had the special of sea bass, roasted potatoes and grilled zucchini. I enjoyed the grilled tilapia fish tacos that were great but a little spicier than I expected. We shared a huge and amazing bread pudding. Although I would have added a scoop of ice cream We will definitely be back to enjoy the atmosphere and great food and drink specials!!!

I’m updating because my friends and I wandered in for drinks and apps after a Historical Society party. Honestly, I had no idea they had sushi. Do they have it on the regular menu? No idea, but our table ordered several rolls and it was DELICIOUS. It’s been a while since I’ve had sushi, but since that night, I’ve been craving another one of their rolls. Sushi = yes. It bumped them up a star. Everything else = eh.

Tonight was my second visit. The first visit was really good. However, tonight I was extremely disappointed. My wife order the steak medium well and it came to the table rare. Twenty minutes later the sever brought back a kids steak that tasted horrible. We let the waitress know the steak was not good and I was shocked the steak was on the bill. We won’t go back for sure.

Toughest steak ever! $ 30.00 for a steak I couldn’t eat! Ordered it medium rare; waiter suggested the next time I should order it medium! Next time? There will never be a next time! Better steak at Longhorn!

TL;DR — Great place for a date, but I would never go here for a good meal and an enjoyable evening with friends.
I was really excited about this place when it opened a few years ago, but over the years it seems to be on a steady decline. The food is ok, but just ok. I had a great ribeye here one time, but unfortunately I can’t write a Unilocal review for the butcher or the cow. The service here always seems to be strained. Like they just don’t have enough staff. No matter if it’s packed or you go in while it’s slow the server still seems to be running around like a chicken with his or her head cut off. The lady that is the hostess there; seems like she could be an owner or a manager always seems annoyed that I bothered to show up. The atmosphere is really nice and it’s a quaint place for a date. Good for a first date because you don’t have to make plans for the rest of the night due to the slow service and it’s sufficiently expensive so it doesn’t look like you skimped. The menu is awkward. It somehow manages to do too much and not enough at the same time. There are lots of different types of food, but it’s the bare minimum in each of the categories prepared in a way that people think is «fancy.» The HUGE drawback is that the last time I was in there I had to pay for refills, which was something new. The server also told me that if you got a drink on the rocks that you had to pay for the ice.

great place to go for lunch. the service is great and the food is even better. With only having an hour for lunch it is nice to have a place that is not«fast food» that you can enjoy eating real food in a restaurant environment and know you can make it back to work on time.

Great happy hour specials with a variety of appetizer and drink choices! Food is delicious. Service is friendly and consistent. Gluten free menu is available upon request and now they are open for lunch!

Fabulous service and the best restaurant in Griffin — hands down! They accommodated our party of 8 along with a wheelchair and we were so very pleased… The Bacon Wrapped Dates are nothing short of orgasmic. The Fresh Bread with Pesto Dip is a welcome addition so order a few sides for the table! My Tuna Piccata was phenomenal but I did experience a but of food envy as I eyed the huge Crabcake, awesome Fried Flounder, Mouthwatering Mahi and I can’t begin to describe the sides. The Creamed Cauliflower was delicious and did I mention homemade salad dressings??? If you have not taken the time to visit and dine at 6th Street you are missing the train!!! I think I saw a few reviews mentioning prices… for our party of 8 along with some adult drinks and appetizers our total bill was just $ 202 in which I added a $ 50 tip for great service! The quality of their cuisine combined with a creative menu make them a true gem at a fabulous price! We can’t wait to go back!

Their selection of alcoholic beverages is amazing(for Griffin). The best time to visit is during happy hour, when drinks are half priced. I really enjoyed the pecan ale. The appetizers are intriguing and delicious(olive cheese plate, sauteed oysters, scallops wrapped in bacon, etc.) In contrast, the entrees are kinda ordinary and forgetful(steak or seafood with two boring sides). Just avoid the expensive entrees and order a couple of appetizers.
