I have to say for a small town, I did have a wonderful childhood growing up and many happy memories at Gridley park :) We have had so many family events here, whether it be celebrating birthdays, baby showers, special holidays, or just picnic potluck get togethers. I still remember my kindergarten end of the year Hawaiian luau lunch!!! Last year, we rented the small building(old school house) to have an indoor family Sunday luncheon and it was great, it has a kitchen, Clean bathrooms, plenty of tables/chairs to accommodate us and everything worked out great. But for the most part, majority of my experiences at the park were outside. Love going to family bbqs and of course, weekends are always the most busiest with a lot of kids playing and people from the local community enjoying the park as well. The park is such a decent size, located between Haskell and Magnolia streets. There are only two entrances, one near the tennis courts/Washington street, and one on Haskell, which if you see the back of McDonald’s you are in the right area. Once you drive in, you’ll notice several speed bumps throughout the road part! This is a very nice park with a lot of shady trees, green grass, playgrounds, lots of parking, tennis courts, plenty of benches and bbq grills, trash cans all over! This is where our local Softball and Baseball teams play, there are 3 fields and when in session, they open up a snack shop. There is also a yearly Easter egg hunt here too! I am pretty sure the park closes at night, opens in the morning, but I am not certain what the hours are. The tennis courts also have lights, so you can play in the evening/night too! The Water playground is only a few years old, that was not there when I was growing up, but it sure is pretty cool and colorful!!! It does have limited times of when the water runs and shuts off. The only one negative I have to say is, I do not like the bathrooms here or drinking water fountains. Some of the trees have BIGREDANTS and they actually bite! Overall this is such a great park and I have enjoyed the numerous times I have visited throughout the years of Spring and Summer.
