Great food. Great prices. Love the chicken burritos and tortas. The people are always friendly and the food is always great.

You let me down casa lupe. I have been coming here since 2006 twice a month from yuba city and this time out of all was not great. The rice in my burrito was or has to be a day old maybe even burnt. I looked passed it and got desert 2 churros it was like a burnt rock. I asked for a refund on the churros and got it but did not get the tax back on them. Casa lupe you let me down, I have no reason anymore to drive any further then live oak ever again. My family will never return to your establishment. I wanted my children to love this experience of eating here but you just let me down. Nasty food is what I was served.

Casa lupe has been and always will be the best resturant in Gridley. The food is delicious and consistent! I would highly recommend anyone to this Gem in gridley, especially out of towners. If you want a great meal, mexican or american, go to casa lupe!

Solidly slightly below average. I ordered a shrimp taco, my companion had a chile rellenos with a shredded beef taco. Nothing on the plate was made fresh. Tortillas from a bag, guacamole from a tub, beans from a can and salad from a bag. The chips we were served were hard and greasy and the salsa watery. Very strangely, while we waited to order, the waiter brought cups of New England clam chowder to «try», also pretty obviously from a can… which caused me to want to order less food. Clam chowder in a Mexican restaurant? The service was polite but slow… it was not busy and it took rather a long time to order and be served the food. The prices were slightly above average, so we had a $ 26 bill for the two orders(we had water to drink). I would recommend to anyone to steer clear of this place, unless 70’s lounge furniture and wood paneling is your idea of a must-see. We were disappointed… once you know what fresh food tastes like, it doesn’t take much to know it isn’t being served at Casa Lupe.

As a Tennessee transplant, I have yet to find a good Mexican restaurant. Others in our party seemed to really enjoy the salsa and I have heard the locals rave about it but I don’t understand why. It’s basically pico de gallo in a bowl of water. I asked for their Picante sauce which had a good flavor but again was completely watery. This is consistent with the Yuba City location too. Maybe the locals just don’t know good Mexican food? Go to Nashville. Even the worst Mexican is better. As for the service, this restaurant was poorly managed. We had a party of 23 people and not once did the manager stop by our table. Our server had our party, another large party of about 10 and several more smaller tables. They didn’t give him any help. Being that I was there with people that own restaurants, they were even less patient knowing this. We finally asked for a pitcher of water so we could serve our selves. Regardless, I felt bad for the server so I still overtopped. It’s not his fault the management doesn’t know what they are doing.

Had dinner here recently while in Gridley for other business, as far as Mexican food, i was on par with chain Mexican restaurants. It wasn’t great, but wasn’t bad and I would bet it’s fairly consistent. The margaratas were good and tasted fresh made. The chips and salsa were good. Chips not greasy and the salsa tasted homemade. I would recommend it.

I called in an order for pick — up…3 chicken tacos a la carte. I needed a simple and quick lunch. The tacos come with corn tortilla, lettuce, meat, and cheese. I went in 15 min later and the order was ready, but rang up for $ 16 dollars. I asked if she was serious??? She said that many people react in the same way. These tacos were certainly not worth $ 5.00 each. The tacos shells were deep fried too, which I didn’t want, but I should have clarified that. There was maybe 2 oz of chicken. For that price I was severely disappointed. They weren’t even that tasty. I will not be ordering from them again.

Atmosphere not great however the chicken tostada was over the top with the most chicken chunks(delicious) I’ve ever had in tostadas twice this size. The salsa was good, the chips fresh and not greasy. The chili rellonos were ok although could have used a bit more flavor. Since we live in Chico where there are many great Mexican restaurants Casa Lupe restaurant in Gridley won’t be our go to restaurant but for a small town it’s pretty good. Busboy super service, waitress good service.

We drive 50 miles just to eat at Casa Lupe. This restaurant has the best Mexican food hands down, and I go to buy their salsa just because it is the best salsa I’ve ever had. I’ve eaten Mexican food all over California and Texas, and Casa Lupe beats them all. Their hostess’s aren’t exactly what I would call«friendly” — they should probably hire nicer girls to run the front desk, but the rest of the staff are usually great.

We stopped here for lunch as we were told it was good. Not! The food was bland overall, and the service was mediocre, the waitress seemed disinterested in doing her job. The salsa tasted like it had chili powder in it, we were not keen on that, I usually love salsa. There was a busboy who was nice. We sat and waited a while for our bill and a box for the leftovers(to give the dog), the waitress was busy chatting with other staff, I finally caught the busboys attention and he brought a box over, then we got the bill about 5 mins later. When we were paying, the young woman asked«How was everything?», I asked if she wanted an honest reply or was she just being polite, she gave me a perplexed look.

The deli inside the Casa Lupe Market is truly a hidden gem. I’ve had burritos all up and down California and this place still has the best, hands down! They are very consistent too. Everything is made to order right in front of you. Highly highly recommended for anyone who enjoys authentic Mexican food. Oh, and it’s cheap. You can get a huge, loaded burrito for less that $ 6.
