Tan Dinh is one of my favorite Vietnamese eateries in the GNO The short ribs with pressed noodles is a no fail dish every time, as is the Phở. They also have a great bubble tea menu. If youre a tofu fan, their curried tofu comes in a huge, satisfying portion

1. Service — 5 stars! Food came out fast! The refills was prompt and people are friendly 2. Food — 5 stars!!! The best Vietnamese food in town. I live in Atlanta and this place is the best Vietnamese food in both New Orleans and Atlanta. Try anything and you won’t be disappointed 3. Atmosphere — 5 stars! The restaurant is nice with nice décor. Only issue is probably is the restrooms 4. Price — 5 stars! You can get a very good meal with $ 10 at this place. If you are on a budget and want a very good meal… don’t go anywhere else

I came from Seattle, not far from the Super Asian district, so I guess I have a taste for good Phở. This place has awesome Phở and I feel right at home. It was cheap and the food tastes great. I most definitely will be back to enjoy the Phở!

I’ve been going to Tan Dinh for over a decade. I used to come here only for certain individual plates/entrees i.e. rotisserie chicken with rice(com ga roti), lemon grass chicken with rice(com ga nuong xa), beef stew with bread to dip(banh mi bo kho), lemon pepper pork ribs with rice(com suon rang muoi). However, lately my family and I have been coming at least once a week for their family meals! Tan Dinh has totally stepped up their family dishes! I crave their Canh Chua Ca(hot and sour soup with catfish)!!! It’s so good! Their muc rang muoi(salt/pepper calamari) is DELICIOUS as well!!! SO seasoned and flavorful! Their Ca Kho To comes in a huge clay pot and is pretty tasty! We also recently ordered their tofu(they have it in a variety of preparations) and it was pretty delectable! Way to go Tan Dinh! Now, all you need is bo tai chanh and I wouldn’t ever have to go anywhere else. haha

Came here with with large group of people and we all got a variety of dishes. I had the shrimp with curry and sweet rice and it was decent. The curry tasted weird but the rice was good! The fried egg rolls were fantastic, however they were greasy. The lemongrass chicken and noodles was very tasty and the portion was sufficient. The amount of chicken was almost overwhelming! The Korean beef was cooked perfectly too and juicy. The rice paper rolls were pretty standard but the peanut sauce added a nice touch to it. For a large group, the service was great.

This was a disappointing experience from start to finish. Food, service, everything just left a bad taste in my mouth. The fresh shrimp rolls were huge but it was cause it was just filled with rice noodles and not much else. The peanut sauce was weak and needed more hoisin and crushed peanuts. The fried spring rolls were also huge but they were unbelievably oily. It was so gross and unappetizing. And the fish sauce was so mild it added no flavor. The phở came out not as hot temperature wise that I’d expect. The noodles made the broth taste too starchy and the soup lacked the depth of flavor that it should have. Service was lazy. It took a while to get their attention and they were very short with me when I asked for simple requests. Def would not come back

I remember the days when I could get a meal under $ 8. Today, I’ll be dropping $ 10 plus. The food is still good, but the western people are driving up prices like a fad that will never go out in style. Dang you western ppl. Cheap Asian food no longer exists. Nevertheless, it’s my go to Vietnamese place in the city. Amen.

Love this place! The chargrilled pork anything, especially spring rolls, are fabulous. The tamarind wings are amazing, we do them as an appetizer usually. I’ve noticed that the prices have crept up, and while the food seems to be of good quality, it is a bit pricey. I’ve heard complaints about the service but I just see it more as they like to leave you alone to eat, so they don’t check on you a lot. Any time I need anything I just wave someone over and they are more than eager to help. If you like Vietnamese food, this is a place you have to try at least once. The menu is huge and has things I haven’t seen anywhere else.

Hands down he best Vietnamese food in the New Orleans area. A huge menu with LARGE portions. Open early, which makes it a great spot for breakfast.

Terrible service and there was hair in my concealed dessert. The lady acted like she didn’t want to be there to take our order and the concealed dessert was a premade food in the refrigerator. The worse part is, it was kind of really pricey.

I like this place. The phở was great. everyone was friendly. i wish we had gotten more vegetables to add to the phở, but everything was deeeee-lish! only downside is that it is far(ok, i don’t like to drive, so crossing the bridge is far). hah. i am still hungry.

Not bad at all. It’s kind of Vietnamese fusion. We ordered fried wings and ribs. Both were very good. The wings had a sweet taste. I’d prefer it with garlic. The egg rolls were ok. Not sure what kind of skin they use. It’s yellow. I don’t like that it didn’t come with lettuce to wrap it in. And no dipping sauce. The fish sauce on the table is not for egg rolls. The bun bo hue($ 10) was very authentic. I like it. I’d come back to try other things.

Hmmm. Wasn’t blown away. Service was ok. Food was ok. Looked up what people seemed to talk the most about and ordered the chargrilled pork spring rolls and the egg rolls. Both were… o.k. Nothing special. Egg rolls were literally dripping grease as I ate them. Glad that’s all I ordered though as I’m going to hop places on the search for the best Vietnamese in New Orleans. Hope this isn’t it. Maybe other dishes are better as the ribs look good. Heading to Hong Kong market for a bahn mi next. The place is overpriced on some things also. The Bahn mi starts at $ 7. Most places are $ 3 – 4.

Tan Dinh always delivers. It’s simple rustic Vietnamese food that always hits the spot. I haven’t had anything here that wasn’t delicious. The menu is pretty extensive, but they do lots of stuff well. Their prices are also pretty reasonable.

My favorite place to get rice dishes in the Wank. To choices are : 1) Com Suong Rang Muoi — fried pork bones with a salt/lemon sauce for dipping. 2) Canh Ga Chien Bo — garlic butter fried chicken 3) Canh Chua — I usually get it with shrimp, but catfish is the classic option. 4) Com Ga Roti w/Com Nep — the fried sticky rice is definitely a must try for anyone who hasn’t had it!

I’ve heard from a few sources that this is one of the best places for Vietnamese food in the greater Nola area, so I finally decided to check it out! The restaurant itself is in a weird little Gretna strip mall, and the vibe is casual. For appetizers, we got the shrimp rolls, which were unbelievable. I could have gotten a second order and eaten it as my entrée — they were the star of the meal for me. The peanut sauce that accompanied the rolls was also wonderful. For my meal, I got the steam bun tacos. The only problem I encountered was that they came unassembled and I had to cut up the meat and make my tacos myself. Everything tasted incredible — the meat was flavorful, the buns were soft and warm, and the veggies and garnishes were crisp, but I was a little irked that they weren’t prepared to completion. It took a decent amount of time for me to put everything together myself, and I don’t particularly want to do the work if I’m coming to a restaurant for lunch. However, the tastes and textures were all right on the mark. I’m looking forward to returning to Tan Dinh and trying the phở!

Absolutely delicious! The food comes out quickly and is fantastic. The prices are low and this place, for me, ranks just behind Lilly’s(which I feel cannot be beat). But, if you find yourself on the Westbank with a craving for phở or an excellent vermicelli bowl along with some really good eggrolls, hit up Tan Dinh and you will not be disappointed.

Well, we did it. We crossed the Crescent City Connection to Westbank, drawn to, what we had been told, was the best Vietnamese food in the area. Tan Dinh Vietnamese Bistro, in Gretna. Our source was impeccable: an attorney, whose family runs a famous Vietnamese restaurant, told us that when he wants Vietnamese in New Orleans, he leaves New Orleans to eat at Tan Dinh. I would describe Tan Din as a casual family-friendly restaurant, located in a small strip mall. I found it warm and comfortable and without pretense, which is refreshing. We started with appetizers, Cha Gio(four rice paper egg rolls, with pork, carrots, mushrooms and rice noodles, served with Nuoe Mam(peanut dipping sauce) /$ 7.99). Delicious, especially the Nuoe Mam. Each of our party ordered a different dish, and traded tastes. I had the De Xao Lan(goat simmered in house curry, mixed nuts and herbs, and steamed rice /small: $ 14.99). Others had Bun Ga Nuong(vermicelli noodle salad, topped with grilled lemongrass chicken /$ 9.25), and Phở Tal Nam(rare flank steak and brisket in rice noodle soup /$ 8.75). They said these dishes were wonderful, and we left completely stuffed. We all agree: scrumptious. He did not steer us wrong. Great food, great price, and fast and friendly service. We recommend Tan Dinh Vietnamese Bistro, and are looking forward to returning. Four Stars.

I don’t think I’ve ever heard myself say these words before: «the goat was amazing». Seriously, the goat curry is fantastic. Doesn’t come with rice or anything. Just goat, cashews and Thai basil leafs.(Note: don’t eat the basil!!!) Would go great with a saki if I had been smart enough to order one. Had to settle for my Abita amber. Sigh… No muss/no fuss kinda place. Super extensive menu.(Too extensive?) Which is prob why I landed on goat.
