Packed during the day especially on Sunday’s for sand volley ball but the food is good and the drinks are CHEAP.

My oldest son’s soccer team had an end of year party here recently. Otherwise, I am not sure I ever would have known this place existed. But, it was not bad at all. For food, we ordered a couple of burgers, some chicken strips and I had the chicken Philly. My wife and son both liked their burgers and anyone can drop chicken strips into oil, so they were fine. The chicken Philly was surprisingly good actually. I was worried about it, to be honest, but it turned out to be a nice sandwich. The fries and tots that we had with our meals were great, too. I mean, it’s bar food, so don’t come looking for some foodie mecca but for what it is, I think we all liked it. I can’t honestly speak to the service. We had a big group with only one person working the entire table(with some help). She did fine but just by the nature of serving big groups, I think the individual attention was lacking. Not her fault and she seemed friendly enough. The location itself is quite industrial looking, at least from the outside. Once you walk in, it is large with lots of seating. The floor is just hard concrete but there is a reason for that. They have, I think, 10 sand volleyball courts outside and I am pretty sure the volleyball is the big draw for the place. But, with people coming and going with sand all over their feet, the concrete floors are probably convenient for cleaning. They have a digital jukebox, darts, and a game room with a few games for the kids. The bar had a decent beer list, nothing to get excited about but not bad either. I’ve only been to Spikers once, so keep that in mind. I usually like to wait a couple of visits to write a review but I think I feel comfortable writing one now, just in case I don’t go back. And, if I don’t go back, it will only be because it’s way out in Gretna and well, I don’t get that way often. However, our experience overall was good and I would definitely be willing to go back again.

Met some friends here on a Saturday evening at 7.30. What can you say? It’s a sports bar in Gretna. The service spotty, the food average. They were playing techno, like dance club music. I thought that was strange. Also the ratio of children to adults was about 50⁄50. Maybe they don’t kick kids out til 9.00? I’m not sure. We didn’t stick around and find out.

Walk into a bar and there is a Girl Scout troop set up shop, selling cookies, bombarding people as they walk into the bar. Weird. Kids running all around. Ugh. Horrid service, killing me. Not again.
