I’m with Marielle on this one, this is NOT your mother’s Payless! I remember shopping at Payless since I was a kid and money was tight. Gone are the plastic smelling, cheaply made, uncomfortable shoes. Instead I found black, knee length, flat boots on sale(from $ 60 to $ 30) that closely resemble the Steve Madden shoes that I paid a ridiculous amount last year but they were the only ones I could find to accommodate my muscular calves(hereditary bc my Mom has the same calves, she’s just shorter). Now I must warn you, because I have a wide foot and wide calves(I think disproportionately larger for my body since I am 5″ ¾’ and yes the ¾’ counts dammit and wear a size 8 ½ to 9 varying on the shoe) I WILL buy shoes that are comfortable and fit me, especially if they are on sale! In fact, if they are for work which these were, I will buy them in black and brown. Guys won’t understand this but the ladies know what I’m talking about. Now I also found Christian Soriano black patent leather stilettos, leopard print stilettos, and leopard being stiletto booties! For those that don’t know, these are hot looking shoes! If I didn’t have back issues from a car accident I would have picked up these puppies(but platform shoes and wedges are fair game!). Plus, I’m preparing for the 610 Stomper Ball and picked up a evening bag(convertible from a long strap to a clutch) on sale for $ 10(quite a steal!). It has a black lace overlay on a nude bag. Very classic and big enough for makeup and cell phone, keys, pepper spray! Don’t mess with me. I may be small but I’m carrying pepper spray and I’m not afraid to use it! Hehe My Mom also found some black booties(even though I reminded her that she JUST bought some at Sears) but she quickly defended herself and logically reasoned that these were on sale AND that she has a difficult time finding shoes for her tiny feet(5 ½, she thinks I have monstrous sized feet hehe!) so she had to get them. Well, I had to succumb to her argument. Far be it from me to keep a lady from her shoes, especially when it’s so hard to find ones that fit, are comfortable, and on sale(see my review of Sears for my Trifecta comment). Am liking Payless again! Happy Shoe Shopping ladies!

For some strange reason, it seems that most of the Payless stores on the Westbank have decided to close. When I needed some shoes recently, I had no choice but to go to the Payless at the mall. I usually avoid it because, well, it’s in the mall, but sometimes you do what you gotta do. I like this Payless, mainly because the store is always organized and there are never any shoes out of place or scattered all around. It’s brightly lit and neat and it makes the shopping experience a lot less stressful. If you haven’t been to Payless lately, check it out. It’s not how it used to be. Payless used to sell clunky looking, out of date shoes, but now they are teaming up with big name designers like Christian Siriano and coming out with sexy, trendy shoes that are just as good as you could find in any department store. This is a great place to shop if you are in the need for some simple black shoes or an inexpensive pair of shoes for a party.
