Anyone know how I can get the recipe for their french fries??? They were the best I have ever eaten!

It is with great sadness in my heart that I write this review. And I only do it for nostalgia purposes. I’ve been missing it lately. Kingfish had the most diverse sandwich menu I’ve ever seen anywhere. The fried bologna was amazing. Seriously. Thick cut bologna with mustard and American cheese… OMG. The Tree Hugger was delicious and light. Husband LOVED the Cubanito. He ordered it every single time we went, and we went quite a bit. Then, there were the Pom Frites. Holy. Sh*@. You’ve not lived if you haven’t had these things. God help you if you never did, cause now you never will. And the Kingfish sauce they came with… I don’t know what was in this stuff but it was what I imagine Heaven tastes like. I’ve never had anything quite like the Pom Frites with Kingfish sauce. And that’s what I miss the most. This place is a local pharmacy now. A PHARMACY. Really? Every time I pass it, a little piece of me dies. What the hell, Cornell Landry? What. The. Hell? If I could just get my hands on those recipes… RIP, Kingfish Grille. I miss you more than you’ll ever know.

Why didn’t I try this place sooner? Perhaps because other eating establishments occupied this space and nothing seemed to stick. But thank God I finally tried Kingfish Grille. Some of the other reviews are what convinced us to try it. Their sandwiches are inventive and delicious. Panini’s are common, and the bread is perfection. And the best side item I’ve ever tasted: their seasoned sweet potato frites(as in pommes frites) !!! If you have the basic, run-of-the-mill, boring palate, then don’t come to Kingfish Grille! That way, those of us on the West Bank lucky enough to know about their food will be able to keep the secret to ourselves!

Kingfish Grille gets an automatic plus one because it is convenient to my workplace. I had the«Badabing» and pomme frites on my first visit and although it was a bit much for me for a lunch, every bite was delicious. The fries were wonderful and I would think eating them fresh out of the fryer would be even better. The garlic baloney on the sandwich was so tasty. I called ahead for a pick-up order and everything was ready for me when I showed up. The staff was very friendly although it was in the middle of the lunch rush and the restaurant was full. One of the best lunch experiences I have had in Gretna by far. A good sandwich shop to hit if you want to get away from the chain restaurants of the Westbank.

The Club Melt is by far the best on the menu! The garlic frites are a must! The place itself is pretty nice for being a «deli» type business(you order at the counter and take a number). Very clean and the staff is pretty friendly.

I’m not sure if its seasoning with a side of crack that they put on their sweet potato frites, but I could’ve eaten two baskets!!! The sandwich selection is unlike any other place in the NOLA metro area. I got the Peachy Chicken sandwich… grilled chicken breast with a peach chipotle sauce on a yummy bun! Mom got the cuban panini and couldn’t stop raving about how tasty it was. Dad’s was so good, that he scarfed down his philly melt in a hurry. If you’ve got room for dessert, then the beignet fries are oh so deliciouso! I want to go back to try the croque monsieur, the weeny panini, or the French Connection!!! Thanks Kingfish Grille for bringing a quality café to the westbank!

The Kingfish is a nice little place on the corner of Lafayette and 5th in old Gretna. Today was my third visit for lunch and it was pretty good. I got the Kingfish burger(standard issue cheese burger) and an order of fries. They would only cook the burger medium well or higher so I ordered medium well(I prefer my burgers medium). The burger came on a baguette bun, which was good, but it fell apart too easily considering it was a burger. The burger is pretty large and was tasty. The fires are really good. I think they may double fry the fries and coat the finished product with garlic oil or garlic salt. The order was huge and was split between several people. All of the staff were very friendly and helpful. The only complaint I have is that I couldn’t get my burger cooked to medium. It wasn’t a big deal since the burger was still tasty, but I do think it should be mentioned. Another reviewer mentioned it, but you order at the counter and get a number. Pick a table and put your number in the center of the table. I would suggest leaving a tip even though there is no full waiter service. If you use the restroom be prepared for a hand dryer as opposed to towels. I would suggest getting here before the noon lunch rush so you may easily get a table.

Great, cheap, and inexpensive. I’ve only been here for lunch, but I go at least once a week. The fries are homemade and delicious, and come with fresh garlic and salt on top. The sandwiches are outstanding — try the fried softshell crab, if they have it on special!
