This is the worst accountant group I can imagine. I knew my taxes for 2021 would be too difficult for a tax layman and TurboTax, so took my previous year’s taxes to Rowell CPA group months before tax season and signed on as a customer. I told them up front that I would owe capital gains tax, so they would know what to expect. Sent my tax forms as soon as they arrived. Called 2x to get status cuz I hadn’t heard anything, and Diane was rude, dismissive, and preferred to interrupt me instead of hearing my questions or re-statement that I knew I would owe for that year. April 15, after 3pm, John with Rowell called and spewed word salad at me. It took nearly 20 minutes for me to figure out what he was saying and managed to get the amount I owed. At the end of the work day with $10k in taxes due, my taxes were STILL NOT done! He actually said I didn’t need to file cuz they’d so graciously filed an extension. Uh, no, I actually DO have to file, the extension only grants more time. Heather called back cuz John couldn’t answer my questions, and she also said I didn’t need to file cuz of the extension. Asking directly about filing, she admitted I had to file. Seems they were stuck in how generous they had been to file an extension for me, and gave lots of excuses, but no one could bring themselves to apologize for delaying my taxes until there was just 1 business day before the payments were due. Heather couldn’t understand how it was a problem that I now would now have to take an emergency day off work to handle the metro tax I couldn’t pay electronically, and STILL couldn’t give even a simple apology. She said she would send me the vouchers to pay with “immediately”, but they didn’t arrive until 2 hours later, AFTER business hours. I had stopped watching e-mail cuz it was past when she said she was leaving for the day. I had to pay $10k in taxes through a method I’ve never used before, with vague, insufficient instructions, and without my taxes being submitted because they weren’t done on the day before the final due date. Called the next day, Saturday, to find out how to pay one that couldn’t be done electronically, and had to ask several times for a specific appointment time to go in to actually file my taxes cuz Heather would only say “next week.” Told her how frustrating the whole process had been and said I would never go back to Rowell CPA Group. Got a call a few minutes later from Dawayne, who identified himself as one of the owners. I thought he was going to apologize for the whole debacle, but instead he started to threaten me. I said “goodbye” and hung up. Received an email from him a little while later, on Saturday, April 16, saying they would no longer file my taxes and that I would be getting my info in the mail. These people are crooks who don’t care about their customers even one iota, their work is shoddy at best, and they only want your money. They don’t have even the most basic humanity.
