Good food and good service! Would give it 5 stars but in comparison to Mexican restaurants from other states it’s far from the best. But it’s up there for Portland standards!

I’ve been going here for years, though I usually take my order«to go.» I’ve always enjoyed the food and the service. The espresso burrito is a fave!

We’ve been going there for years. It’s for the average people, that want great food at a decent price. I can’t pass up their Aroz con Pollo. So delicious. Fajitas for 2 are pretty big too.

Won’t be going back. Regretted it the first moment we sat down. Over heard the folks next to us arguing that their order was wrong. They said they ordered nachos with just cheese, and a shredded beef burrito. They got fully loaded nachos and a ground beef enchilada. Waitress continued to argue that they ordered what she originally brought them. SMFH. Ordered fajitas for 2(Sunday special) came with 4 flour tortillas(we asked for corn btw). Also ordered guacamole to enjoy with chips(never came) had to ask for refill of water way to many times. Waited, waited, waited, asked, waited, waited, waited, asked, waited, waited, waited, asked again, waited, waited, waited, waited, asked again, waited, waited, waited, asked again, waited, waited, waited, waited, asked again, waited waited. Left to go to car and grab water we had in the car. Came back in and noticed water was refilled(really felt like knocking to the floor, but didn’t). Wife said she rattled her glass as waiters were walking by and finally were filled. Food came 1 plate came with beans and rice or should I say beans with rice on top and other plate came with just rice. Don’t recall asking for just rice but whatever. Fajitas weren’t bad but had to ask for more tortillas, again asked for corn got flour.

My favorite Mexican food in Gresham. I’ve been going here for about 10 years and only a couple times was I unhappy. They are consistent and your food comes out really fast!

No idea what everyone is raving about. I’ll break down my experience. The service; Prompt when you walk in the door. Once you are seated, you have to have a construction flagger to get a waiter. They ignore you and when the do come by, they forget what you asked about after they walk away. The Food: A step above Taco Bell at best. Ordered shrimp cocktail, was hot water with shrimp and pico in it. Oh they dropped 3 small pieces of avocado in it too. When I finally got a waiter and asked if this was the shrimp cocktail he said yes. I asked is it suppose to be clear with no flavor? He replied yes. The wife said her chicken mole was not worth talking about. We paid our bill and left. If you are reading this, let my experience save you time and money, move to another place to eat.

We have been going here, there and everywhere looking for a decent Mexican Restaurant in Gresham and had just about given up when we spotted a full parking lot in front of el Indio ll. We decided to give it a try and we’re so glad we did. Our search has come to an end. I had the shredded chicken enchiladas suiza and my husband had the shredded beef enchiladas and both our meals were EXCELLENT! We each splurged with a margarita, also. They were OMG good! We will definitely be back — OFTEN!

I love El Indio. Best Mexican restaurant in Gresham. Friendly staff and yummy food. They have the BEST Fajitas ever. And an excellent piña colada. Highly recommend it.

Really good fajitas. Atmosphere isn’t as nice as original on Halsey, but it’ll do the trick if you need some fajitas.

Even though they warned us out plates came out ridiculously hot. Like they weren’t even cool enough to touch by the end of our meal.

I first visited this El Indio about five years ago, and was totally dissatisfied with the food. However last Friday evening, my husband and I decided to try it again, and I was pleasantly surprised. I’m married to a Mexican-American, so I’m especially sensitive to whether the food is great, good or below average. We both found the dishes to be pretty tasty(a B+ rating). My husband ordered a chicken enchilada and a chile relleno. He commented that he liked the sauce on the enchilada because it was different from the standard tomato. He thought there were a few different spices added in. I ordered Albondigas Soup, and a salad. Albondigas is mexican meatball soup, with mint and rice added to the meatballs. This version was also different from the traditional, however it hit the spot. The waiter was very attentive and the establishment was clean. I did find the cushions on the seats in the booth to be pretty soft, but that’s about it.

Absolutely the worst experience I have ever had at a restraunt. When we first arrived we were seated directly next to a very loud group of drinkers despite the entire restraunt being empty. We were then given menus that were stuck together. The waiter came over and offered drinks… I ordered a coke only to have him jokingly say rum and coke ok… he brought né a coke and then charged me for a rum and coke. I ordered a beer from the bar, paid cash for it, and today discovered they added the beer to my dinner receipt. The food was horrific and took forty minutes to come out. My fiancé ordered fajitas and they put some janky candle holder thing for the food… it literally wobbled to the point we were worried about ot falling over and causing a fire. Then when we checked out they gave us a ticket for 22.95 and then proceeded to ring my card up for 26.95…when we questioned it they looked terrified like we had caught them cheating, instead of fixing the card the waiter pulled five dollars out of his pocket and handed it to my fiancé. I left more hungry than when I came in. The cherry on the cake was the overloud kareokee from the bar area. Today I tried to call to settle the double charge on my credit card… I was told a manager would be in at 11, called at 11:15 only to be told the manager wouldn’t be in until five… I demanded to speak to someone in charge and was left on hold for twenty minutes. I have been trying to. call back but all I get is a busy signal. Please don’t waste your money… and if u do make sure u watch them, they are thiefs and liars and will steal from you.

I’ve been going to the original El Indio located over on Halsey st for years but since I live out in Gresham these days I find myself a little bit on the lazy side from time to time when it comes to making the effort to travel to my favorite restaurants that are little further from where I live. Fortunately for me El Indio has another location about 5 minutes away from my house. So whenever my cravings for mexican food come rushing in I quickly quench its hunger by making a quick trek to El Indio 2. Not 100% sure but the menu does look the same as the other location. Food and consistency are aligned with the other location as well. The only familiar face I do see there is the owner but for servers they are completely different crew. What I really enjoy is the fact that they speak spanish to me rather then english assuming that would be all I would understand. Overall good value. Authenticity I wouldn’t stake claim on it being hugely traditional but its still pretty good for what it is. Strong 4 stars for service, food quality, and cleanliness. I would definitely recommend this place to my friends and family members. Happy Eating Everyone.

Worst Mexican food I have ever eaten! i always buy a soft Taco and a Chili Rellano when i go to a new Mexican restaurant. Wow! The Taco was soggy, the Chili rellano was basically an over cooked omelet with some chilis in it. They even left the seeds in the chilis. Yellow cheese too. Plate arrived really hot, but the waiter never told me, so I burned my finger on it. Poor service, lousy food and poor attitude of the staff. Go to TACOBELL rather than go to El Indio II in Gresham

I took my 3 children with me to this restaurant today. 2 of the 4 meals we ordered were cooked incorrectly. Both were significantly overcooked and over salted. Even though we sent one meal back, we were still charged for it. Because my 9 year old daughter ate one of the sides prior to finding the main portion the texture of beef jerky and extremely salty, the establishment refused to remove the charge from the bill. We waited an hour for our food to arrive and another half hour for the bill. Don’t waste your time at this restaurant. It will be an expensive disappointment.
