I’ve been with cascade on and off for the last couple years. I like the fact that it’s family owned as well. Not a good place if you take weight training seriously though. The free weights are okay, and the variety of machines is fine, but many of the members/staff seem to get offended if you sweat too much or make any noise while exercising.(Mild grunting or re-racking of heavy iron). What set me off was I was told by a «trainer», that I wasn’t allowed to have my gym bag on the weight floor with me and that I had to lock it up or put it In a cubby. Why would I put my bag In a cubby in the corner of the gym unsupervised, with my keys, wallet, and phone in there? Overall I’d rate it 5⁄10. It’s a good athletic club, but not a «real gym». Too many rules and overpriced for what you get.

My Husband and myself belonged for about 2 years, we left when the cleaning stopped. I talked to the general manager about using a cleaner not a sanitizing spray on the equipment and he seemed to care less. The shower drains were clogged and backed up for two or three days at a time. We had been gone about 3 months and received a letter to return, I emailed and let them know why we had left and no one even contacted us to review or see if they could win our business back. i see most of the people who used to be there when we were now at LA. Too bad would rather do business local, but not at the expense of my health.

I occasionally work out here at the«East» CAC(the main campus is on Division a few miles to the west). This facility doesn’t have any racquetball or tennis courts or a pool, but it is a great option for a quick convenient workout. It isn’t too busy, and the staff are friendly. It’s also right next to a walmart neighborhood market, making it convenient to work out and get your grocery shopping done in one trip.

I’ve been a member here for about 10 years. Right now my membership is on hold so that I can attend my wifes gym and hopefully keep her motivated. The gym I’m attending now is Mt. Hood Athletic club in Sandy. For my needs Cascade in Gresham is a much better gym. Cascade east is a very simple gym with a great weight floor, good cardio equipment, aerobics floor and a nice spacious locker room with a very hot sauna. This gym suits my needs with a family like atmosphere and affordable prices. Mt. Hood has all the fancy stuff that is going to attract people that have not used a gym for a while. It bothers me that they dedicate such a huge space for the entrance area and a lounge but when you get into the locker room it is almost impossible not to make contact with other users due to the space being so small. The weight room is very much limited on equipment type and numbers due to the room being so small. The cardio room has nice equipment but I found the controls on the treadmills to not be user friendly and there is almost no air flow is this room. The hot dry sauna barely gets hot enough to make me sweet but the steam sauna works well. What this gym has is all the trimmings that attract teenagers and new gym users such as pools, raquetball, basketball, tanning beds, etc… The fitness classes in both gyms are very good.
