If we we didn’t have to get back to Vermont, I’d turn around and get another TBCR sandwich! The staff was super-friendly(best of luck to the girl moving to VT) and the food was delish! The wait did feel a bit long(thus not quite a 5-star rating), but that gives you time to discover some goodies to being home. Honestly, that sandwich hit the spot. Excellent turkey, bacon cooked just right, cheddar and homemade ranch dressing on buttery-toasted homemade white bread… I’ll be stopping by the next time we head through!(I’d post a pic, but the sandwich disappeared too quickly!)

Leaving Sunday River, on a Sunday morning, we stopped here for a bite to eat on the way back to Portland. We had about 10 or 15 minutes to get a couple breakfast sandwiches and head out the door. I ordered a hummus sandwich and my partner ordered an egg on an English muffin. There were maybe two or three people in front of us that had ordered to sit down and eat their food there. The girl behind the counter said it it might be a little bit of a wait because of the folks in front of us. I guess in my brain I thought a little bit of a wait was maybe 10 or 15 minutes for a couple of, essentially, no cook sandwiches. I know an egg might take a minute or two on a griddle. We had also stopped here before one other time and gotten something to go. I knew the food would be tasty, so as we waited, we browsed through the little store section. I was excited to find some Sam Smith Raspberry beer, which I bought(all) 3 bottles of. We continued to browse. Five minutes passed, then 10, and 20, then 25. At around 30 minutes my partner went and asked if our food was almost ready. The girl at the counter said they had not even started it yet and that ours was the next order to be prepared. At this point we were running late for an appointment back in Portland. We told her that we would like to cancel our order, at which point, she said, she told us it would be a bit of a wait. I asked for her to refund my card and she said she couldn’t and gave me cash instead. I have worked in many restaurants and I know that to-go orders always get bumped ahead of in-house orders. Those folks are waiting for their meals and seated comfortably. To-go orders ALWAYSCOMEFIRST. This is restaurant 101, especially at a little side of the road stop on the way to a major ski resort, with many options along the way. I don’t travel this way very often, because of this experience I probably wouldn’t stop here for more than the beer cooler. I hope this review helps anyone in a hurry, to call ahead.

So there are a few reasons this place got 3 stars. If it was just for the food maybe it would have 4, but the bread was dry and nothing about the sandwiches made them remarkable in any way, shape, or form. The primary reason this place was only a 3 star experience was the 45 minute wait for two sandwiches, and then forgetting about a sandwich and having to make it quickly once we realized they forgot it(so really 45 minutes for one sandwich). Suggestion: call ahead or bring a good book.

The Hub keeps on getting better. This is a great addition to the region. Had super taste tomato sandwich and ice cold 60 min. — get lunch. Another person I was with had ‘life changing ’ meatloaf sandwich. Staff is super friendly. Give them a try, you will not regret it.

Stopped in for lunch as the rain precluded any chance of skiing today. Hands down the best lunch joint in the Bethel area! All organic ingredients and a remarkably friendly staff made for a wonderful experience. The meatloaf sandwich was mindblowing! We’ll be back for sure!

Just got me a box of organic goodness from the brand new market: The Local Hub. It’s housed in what looks like a little farm house with four antique wagon wheels decorating the entrance. So darn quaint. But don’t let that fool you. Inside is like a full-on yoga studio, meets European bakery & coffee house, meets small grocery market. And the food! Lordy! No pesticides. No chemicals. Just clean, honest, nutritious food grown locally and eggs from chickens that eat organic feed like bugs, the way it’s supposed to be. Thanks to Dara, one of the co-founders who I met! A former gymnast and sweet as a local Maine blueberry pie. My hats off to you for taking the leap of faith into entrepreneurship! You’re definitely fulfilling a local need and we New Yorkers are happy to have found you while we’re here. :)
