Let’s frame this review in reality: the Sundown Saloon is a bar with a small dining room in the back. it is not fancy. the food is not 5 star, nor should one expect it to be. the tables are covered in paper and have crayons stored in a tin cup for kids to color with. beers are 5 – 7 dollars, bottles or drafts. the menu is reasonably priced. our waiter was great… but here’s the thing: our food was mediocre at best. my wife’s onion soup was way too salty, my mahi mahi wrap was bland and our kids food was par for the course. there are so many great restaurants in Greenwich, don’t waste your time with the Sundown Saloon. it’s too bad, if the food was just a little bit better, we would probably go back.

This is a very casual restaurant with a fairly large bar area in the front. There is a pretty large dining room in the back with Booth style seating. It’s casual food like tacos, nachos and burgers. My husband and I have been back a few times and the portions have been pretty generous and we loved the nachos. This is not a fancy restaurant — just good food that is not too expensive. We eat out pretty often and you can’t have five star meals every night. I don’t get what all the one and two star reviews are all about here. People just do not get it. There aren’t too many places on the Avenue to just get a simple burger if you don’t want to pay $ 18 for a burger. I’m so tired of reading snarky reviews! This place is great for what it is and I’ll be back!

I know I’ve been gone for a while but Sundown is now on the bottom of the list for places to go. Hotter in sundown that outside, I ask to have the AC turned on and in return the person started complaining that they had to turn it on once today when the place was a little busier. I then ask for a draft of beer and a shot to cool off. When the guy returned he said here’s your drinks and bill, $ 18 bucks. 10 for the shot and 8 for the draft. Hummm I’m not that cheap but I also didn’t fall of the truck yesterday. Merry Christmas Sundown and good luck with that.

Talk about a place going downhill. Food is atrocious and the service is abysmal. Used to love the Sundown and being able to draw on the tables. Too many great restaurants in Greenwich to waste money at a place that doesn’t care about its customers.

Love this place!!! Great for kids when u sit in the back. They can even draw on my he tables with crayons they supply. Joe the manager is always smiling and the rest of the tag is fun and attentive. The food is great for bar food and reasonably priced! I’m a single dad and this was always a go to for our Wednesday night dinners. Always got us in and out on time for homework and bed.

Starting with the water, which tastes like it came from a gutter, we should have realized wed come to the wrong place. We had 5 people aged 19 – 42, 3 of which come from Minnesota. If you’ve ever been to Minnesota, you know the food in the countryside isn’t great. Everything was bland. I swear my soft taco was wrapped in a paper towel instead of taco shell. We had quesadillas — «bland grilled cheese» Caesar salad — «it was just salad» Baja tacos — «everything on my plate is bad» French Dip — «it was decent» Spinach artichoke dip — «fair» But hey, we got to color. :/ Very nice server who listened to our complaints. But he should have taken one meal off our bill.

Have been here a couple times with friends and was not impressed. The food was average, the bartenders and servers were not very pleasant, and the atmosphere was very dull and quiet. It has the potential to be better in terms of décor and energy, because of its size and location, and especially since there are not many other sports bars in town.

Mediocre food. Happy hour specials good: buffalo bones less tenders are delicious and for $ 5. $ 3 miller beers. $ 3 drafts. Lots of tvs for watching a game but the scene on weekends is so so

I stopped in with my family for New Years lunch, wanted something easy and good. Thank goodness we did! If your looking for great bar food and tasty sauces, this is the place!!! Grab a nice cold beer, sit, relax and enjoy your meal. The atmosphere is inviting and great for family and kids. Don’t worry if you think you are going to miss a game… They have TVs… Awesome! My husband and I shared the special ½ rack ribs, fish tacos and chicken quesadillas! They were delish!!! Other great eats were the Sassy Sliders, The Jailhouse chilli & The wings!!! If you think they only have this type of food, your wrong, they have amazing salads just as tasty as any other meal on the menu. We were very pleased and content. It hit the New Year spot!!! Remember don’t forget that Cold Beer!

I have been to this establishment on several occasions over the past few years, and prior to my most recent experience would give 5 stars. The food is always good, great drink menu, and the staff is great. This past Sunday I went to eat and have a few beers in the bar area only to be taken over by several families with babies(literally the kids were from under one year to toddler). Not only did they request to change all of the t. v’s to their request. tables were also placed at their request in front of the t. v’s but also in front of the exit doors and when other patrons attempted to exit, the parents were rude to them and acted very entitled. meanwhile they are in a bar during sunday football. There were at least three families in one area and while the staff made every attempt to accommodate these families, they really should’ve been seated in the back area instead of all of the other patrons, at the bar, sacrificing for these three families that left within an hour. Next time I will not spend my sunday time or money if this is going to occur on a regular basis.

Another one bites the dust. A favorite for years… going all the way back to the Casey’s days… work fun, family nights out, karaōke, sports watching, cruising for girls, you name it. Even the crappy live music was OK. Great staff, now gone. Great prices, now gone. Best deals on the menu gone or shrunk, it’s all gone downhill. The other night was maybe our 80th or 90th visit and will be our last for many moons. We’re not alone. You couldn’t barely get in on Saturday or Sunday once upon a time. Now, many open tables even with the competition permanently gone next door. Beach House and Mackenzie’s both offer more for less on the other side of town, and the Little Pub could well put Sundown out of business. Drop prices, bring back the friendly smart quick young staff or forget it. My wife paid $ 13.50 for a terrible, half-size margarita… I paid $ 7.50 each for Captain Lawrence?! I get CL in midtown poured better for $ 5. I would pop in for a lunch in Greenwich, maybe, but this former favorite is off our list after 3 or 4 increasingly bad experiences in 2014. If you like average pub food, overpriced drinks and paper tablecloths… come on down.

Great solid bar on the ave. I love the paper table covers and crayons in the dining area. They make a killer moscow mule. Spinach dip is delicious also. Rest of menu is average but yummy. Bring back trivia night!

Came here with a friend and we both ordered the same thing(waiter didn’t write this down) so of course I ended up with the wrong food? Anyways, the point is EVENTUALLY the food we got here was delicious and the manager was so apologetic he even threw in dessert. GReat place to eat(especially if you’re a big kid and love drawing on the table with crayons) and also just a great bar to grab drinks at – at least one of the most affordable on the avenue.

Great place to come for food and beers. Their Bob Marley sandwich is nice and is severed with a cilantro mayo that is addicting. The prices are fairly decent and they offer nice happy hour deals. The darts hidden in the corner are clutch as well .This is basically the go to place for Greenwich residents looking to have a fun causal night out. It can get packed on the weekends or if their is a big game on.

Food is ok, good drink deals. The problem with this place is the crowd. You have fights outside, and people inside who are on bar crawls that could care less about pushing into you.

Major fall from grace. It used to be the best«bar» in Greenwich with solid food and drinks all around. Now, it’s typically quiet with an «updated» menu that lacks anything new…

Despite the name, it is a great place to take kids for dinner. They have a separate dining section in the back and cover the tables with brown paper that you can color(crayons provided). While it is typical bar food, it’s better than average bar food. The waffle fries are quite tasty. The buffalo wings/tenders are have a good flavor with just enough kick. Sometimes the service can be a little slow, but overall a positive experience.

I was kind of surprised to learn there was a sports bar in the heart of Greenwich, CT. in my head, I kind of pictured all the residents wearing tuxedos and drinking fine champagne. guess I never got the memo. this is a large sports bar with a solid lineup of beers on tap. Allagash White, Magic Hat #9, Abita Purple Haze, and a few other delicious options to balance out the Bud, Miller, etc. a pint’ll run you about $ 5 – 7. not bad. they have a great selection of liquor too, I noticed. menu looks to be typical pub food. didn’t eat as we just came from our company BBQ, though. tons of space to sit and relax here. could see this being a hot spot on weekend nights.

Get the burgers. I’m not big into English muffins but this place has gotten it down pack. N on the side comes with some kind of awesome garlicky mayo that’s green(I might be wrong about the garlic part but whatever it is it’s awesome) the fries were really crispy skinny fries. Reminded me of mcdonald fries but in my opinion better. They didn’t have a large beer selection for their happy hour special but it was still cold. The waitress wasn’t the friendliest waitress but I guess it’s cuz my friends and I don’t look super friendly walking in. A lot of tvs hanging around so you’ll def be entertained, just watch your step ladies while entering the bathroom, especially if you have a lot of drinks in you. If you want to see old rich men still«popping their collar» the sundown saloon is the place to go! I’m not even kidding you I’ve seen at least four on one side of the bar. So we just made one of my girlfriends pop her collar too lol.
