Very nice, low key breakfast. A surprisingly great find.

The service was great & quick for brunch. They serve a side of tasty potatoes. I ordered the BLGFT toasted sandwich(bacon, lettuce, green fried tomato). Didn’t try any of the yummy desserts but will on our next stop.

I really enjoy this quaint spot, The service is very great the young lady that works at the counter is Awesome!!!, Her attitude is enough to come in and enjoy the Great sweets and sandwiches. I would like to add the stone ground grits are the best around also … Thanks can’t wait to come back.

My coworkers and I walked over for lunch. Having recently moved to GVL, I am all for supporting local food especially downtown. The tomato basil soup is amazing and my croissant sandwich was really fresh and tasty. Being French, I am always hesitant about what our society calls«croissant» or «éclair» but you guys this place does not disappoint. The chocolate is considered milk but is a bit dark for me but it did not stop me from eating it because everything else about it was great. I’ll definitely be going back to Sobys on the Side for Tomato Basil soup!!!

Tried to get in a Saturday night during restaurant week(without a reservation) and it was a 2hr wait so we decided to come back… and we did for Sunday brunch. I started off with the create your own Bloody Mary and it was one of the best I’ve had. Went with the Greygoose/zing zany mixer with old bay type seasoning on the rim, garnished with the blue cheese stuffed olive, Peperoncino and a celery stalk. Wifey chose the create your own mimosas but with Procesco, pomegranate and white cranberry juices… turned out to be a purple concoction but she thoroughly enjoyed it. The buffet style brunch was small on he selections compared to some I’ve been to but it wasn’t small on taste. Starting off with the typical breakfast fare(including grits) and moving to some wonderful salads and then into several choices for lunch fan in the group. They had a separate create your own omelette station along with a fresh ham carving station. I didn’t partake in the omelette fun but the ham was great. They didn’t skimp on the dessert station! I’m not a huge fan but when you have melted chocolate ready for dipping, everything is right in the world. Next time I’m in town I would visit Soby’s again and certainly try them for dinner.

I placed my order at Soby’s on the Side at 12:36. I ordered the special for the day – the hot dog plate with fries and slaw. I thought it would be prepared quickly since it was the special of the day. Oh, how I was wrong! It’s now 12:56 and I’ve been standing at the counter waiting to receive my place for exactly 20 minutes. I have yet to receive it. There is currently no one else in line. All other orders have been placed. The wait staff has assured me multiple times that it’s almost ready, but I have yet to see anything come up to the counter. UPDATE: I finally received my food at 1:04 – almost 30 minutes after I placed my order. For a restaurant that does not offer table service, I find this completely unacceptable. There are currently 4 customers(including myself) in the restaurant, so it’s not like they are incredibly busy. Currently, the staff out number the customers 2:1. All in all, the quality of the food is good. The meal is hot and tastes fine. It’s also very reasonable in price, especially for downtown. However, if you’re on a lunch break or are pressed for time, avoid this place like the plague.

This is a nice little place to drop in for a muffin, or even a sandwich or their selection of salads. I love the broccoli salad and the cucumber tomato salad, but I’m not a fan of the chicken salad. To me, it has too much garlic and/or dill. Still though, it is convenient and a great place to meet clients for a chat, and I appreciate the friendliness of the staff.

Soby on the side has horrible customer service skills. A few of the staff member are very disrespectful and unprofessional, after my recent experience I would not recommend this place to anyone not even my dog. I’ve have been a loyal customer of this establishment for a couple of years and would never think I would never see the day that I would decide not to ever enter they place of business again. I order an omelet which I do every morning and it was wrong when I picked it up and got back to work I checked my food and it was not what I ordered. I called back up and informed them it was wrong and that I would bring it back up there. Once they hung up the phone two of the hostess began talking about«Johnny» negatively. A co-worker of mine was there placing an order at this same time. Once I returned from picking my co-worker asked me if my food was wrong? I responded yes, how you know? She then explained the very rude and unprofessional things Soby’s employees were making concerning me! Stating«he is always lying about his food being wrong, if we are always getting his food wrong he needs to stop ordering and coming up here, I get tired of PEOPLE like him»

The food and coffee are great! The guy with the boat shoes who wouldn’t move his padfolio and sunglasses off the idle table for people to sit was a buzzkill.

Hello Greenville! I’m visiting from Los Angeles, the land of good food. When I travel, I’m always on the hunt for something special. I stopped in here based on the fact that their sister restaurant Soby’s was rated so high. Pros were the food. I tried the shrimp and grits. But I added bacon and an overeasy egg to the dish. It was very tasty. The grits were a nice consistency and the add-ins really stepped up the dish. Cons, the setting. It’s super tiny, and I get it. It’s a not so fancy version of next door. But it seemed like an after thought. I wish there was some design to the place. Also, I hated the fact that everything was disposable… Styrofoam bowls, plastic utensils, paper and plastic cups. Not a fan of styrofoam ATALL! It’s 2015… Earth needs us to not use styrofoam. I was just surprised that Soby’s on the side seemed so far below Soby’s high reputation. I prob won’t eat here again but I’m glad I tried it.

Early morning breakfast! WAYBETTERTHANANYFASTFOODJOINT and price is comparable! I ordered a the breakfast sandwich with bacon on a plain bagel. The bagel was really good and the innards were just icing on the cake. Service was fairly decent and the price was extremely reasonable. Next time I will try the hash brown!

Delicious food! Try the Friday special($ 4 sandwich or salad) Prices are around $ 10 for a sandwich, side dish, cookie, and drink. The make your own salad is a great deal for $ 6.50. You can add a side dish, drink, and cookie for $ 3 extra. Just ask for the box lunch. One of the best in Greenville. Just know how to navigate the menu. Enjoy!

I got breakfast the other day for myself and my family. All of our eggs were burnt the bagels were crushed and the cheese wasn’t even melted. It was disappointing after having had such great meals there from my vacation last year. Their food was terrible and people were coming in asking for their money back. There needs to be a change and quick.

We had a wedding reception at Soby’s in the loft area and the food was outstanding. The duck mac and cheese for dinner was the best and everyone raved about the grits on Sunday brunch. Some of our members had breakfast in the deli downstairs and said they loved it. I would definitely come back for more meals.

I go here every morning for the egg white veggie omelet. Very good! Low carb and healthy. It spars extra calories to use on other meals yet is a very tasty breakfast. Their build your own grits are quite good too.

My spinach florentine was so enjoyable I can’t imagine ordering anything else on the menu. I will definitely be back for this again and to test out one of the macaroons from their bakery.

Now I remember why I rarely eat at Soby’s on the Side. The food is overpriced and it’s not even that good. Not only did I waste $ 15 on a grilled chicken salad, but I also ended up wearing it out of the store. The flimsy plastic fork actually snapped in two as I was attempting to spear a balsamic vinegar-laden cucumber slice and the dressing proceeded to splash all over the front of my white tshirt. To add insult to injury, the mixed greens were wilted. Some of the lettuce had even turned black around the edges and had that slick sheen to it, which is always completely gross and renders the entire salad inedible. I ended up having 2 packs of saltine crackers for lunch. One more thing… Soby’s on the Side is owned by the regular Soby’s restaruant people, but for some reason the food is not nearly as good.
