I think the«wannabe» boutiques in Greenville are a hoot. Here’s the deal with Monkees — I have been in several times and received two gifts from there and the same thing has happened each time. First, they do carry good brands. I’ll give them that. Sadly, they rarely carry anything over a size 8. Considering both Kate Spade and Tory Burch(two of the brands they carry) make up to a size 14, the owner is cutting out a portion of the population she could be selling too. Twice I went in specifically to look for something I had seen online at Tory Burch and at Kate Spade. I found both items in Monkees and would have bought them directly in my size(size 10) had they had it. Unfortunately, I had to order online and Monkees lost two sales. Their size selection is also surprising considering the size of the owner. She does not appear to be a size 8 or smaller. Why have a boutique that doesn’t carry your size? Second, I have been given two gifts(both necklaces) that were purchased at Monkees in Greenville. Both necklaces are also carried at JC Penney. How do I know this? The first necklace I actually owned when I also received it as a gift and I bought it at JC Penney. The second, I saw in Penney’s 3 days after I got the gift. There is no problem with Monkees carrying the same jewelry as JCP but the price mark-up on is ridiculous compared to what you can buy the same thing for at JCP. Pizazz a store in the same shopping complex as Monkees is also notorious for carrying the same jewelry as JCP. So, ladies, before buying that trendy necklace at Monkees, you might want to head over to the mall and check out JCP! The primary reason I don’t shop at Monkees in Greenville, NC is that I refuse to shop at a boutique in a town like Greenville that does not cater to all«misses size(i.e. 2 – 14)» women. Instead, I order my Tory Burch or Kate Spade online with free shipping(and often on sale before Monkees) and feel good that I am not giving my money to yet another«wannabe» boutique in a town.
