Best coffee I have EVER had in my whole entire life! Starbucks who? I wish I could bring this entire shop back to my hometown. Will certainly come back again. The staff is so friendly and knowledgable and able to make awesome recommendations to suit your taste. Also the environment is relaxed and the Art Gallery and décor brings a cool vibe. If you have never been here before, and are in downtown Greensboro, please go! –Signed, A Happy Customer

Great regular or iced coffee. As far as specials go, the Low-Brow is a favorite and I also really enjoyed the The Grasshopper. I am a huge fan of a good hot or iced Red-Eye and theirs is good. I don’t live in Greensboro, but I see that they offer a lot of evening/weekend events. I’ve had a solid experience here so far and would encourage you to give it a shot.

We were on a quick overnight trip to Greensboro and wanted a good coffee. Unilocal lead us here and it’s a great little coffee shop. We had lattes and a muffin. The muffin was fresh and the lattes perfect! Even though the name is Urban Grinders, I wasn’t expecting to find a place with a great urban feel. Nothing bad to say!

My first time here. A nice space with a diverse drink menu, ample seating, electrical outlets, a free(1hr) Internet. In addition to these features, they have a small section of new/reissue vinyl distributed by Hippo Records. The pricing is typical for new/reissued records. They also have a variety of regional art on the walls, and they even have a little gallery upstairs. The art adds a particular stimulating aura to the atmosphere here. The service is friendly(not indie pretentious) and efficient. My only complaint is the lack of parking. Being located on elm st, it’s an inevitable challenge finding parking. Fortunately I found a space, but it’s only 1 hr parking, so that obviously limits the amount of time I spend here. It also poses problems for wanting to meet friends here.

Okay I have been waiting forever for a good coffee shop to open up in walking distance from my office.(Green bean is really too far on my short lunch) So thank you coffee Gods. I got the Low Brow iced and it was TOO good. So good I drank it way too quickly and was very sad when it was gone because I hadn’t mentally prepared. It’s a cool vibe inside and the baristas were nice enough but not talkative. The ONLY reason I’m giving them 4 stars instead of 5 is because I was charged .25 cents for it to be iced. 1. Nowhere on the menu did I see that it’s an extra charge and 2. I’ve NEVER been charged extra for an iced latte in my life(so why would I expect that). And no a quarter is not life or death but I was just so shocked by it but after a month of being charged extra it would total up to a whole latte! :(or almost 8 suspended coffees(coffees donated to homeless)

I normally don’t take the time to write Unilocal reviews because I feel as if today’s society would be much more willing to go out of their way to complain more than compliment, but… This place needs to be lauded. Randomly stumbled across it while fulfilling nagging obligations and my mind was blown. The barista(Laura I believe her name was?) was extremely knowledgable about the menu and helped me decide on which coffee would fit my preference, all the while being friendly and conversational. I started with the Grasshopper… Phenomenal. I returned an hour later to try another which hit the spot and I found myself in there for a third time in as many hours for a noir. The ambience, service, and quality of their product is all top notch. I will not be drinking coffee that comes from any other source in Greensboro. Thanks!

Another independent coffee shop in Greensboro — and another very good one. It doubles as an art gallery(actually, it’s primary function) but I was there for the coffee, which was unusually good. The art isn’t to my taste but it’s certainly interesting and, like the staff, present but not intrusive. Honestly, people, we have quite a few excellent independent coffee shops in Greensboro who provide better coffee in nicer spaces at better prices than the chains. I don’t know what we’ve done to deserve them but I hope we’ll support them.

Just had my first experience. Very nice staff. A great addition to the area, particularly for the afternoon coffee crowd from the local businesses. The artwork is diverse, quirky and definitely gives the place character. I look forward to going back.

I was really looking forward to checking this place out since it opened and it did not disappoint! During late summer, early fall hot days I always crave some sort of iced coffee drink. I can’t have caffeine so I always make sure it’s prepared with decaf but some places don’t offer that. I ordered a delicious decaf Iced Mocha and loved every sip. My mom had a café au lait that she enjoyed and my dad’s sweetened iced tea was just sweet enough and refreshing. They have all sorts of things here, even Kombucha! One important thing to point out about their coffee is that they have Cold Brew Coffee. This means it’s been brewed at room temperature for about 18−24hrs which creates more flavorful coffee! I haven’t tried their pastries or bagels but I’m looking forward to that. The atmosphere in this place is also great. I was able to sit and flip through art books and magazines on the tables and they have a gallery upstairs that’s really cool! I love how innovative the owners were with this space. You can also purchase vinyl records AND they recycle here! I liked that. This is a more modern coffee shop. If you’re looking for low lights and Jack Johnson, I suggest another option!

A delightful addition to downtown is Urban Grinders, a quirky little coffee shop /art glary combination. Downtown North was screaming for a coffee spot, so I’m really happy to see this addition. On today’s visit, we only got coffee, but they sell a variety of gluten free and vegan baked goods. The baked goods were a little pricey, but specialty items like that often come at a premium. My hot latte was delicious. So many places overheat lattes while steaming, which ruins the flavor of espresso. This was great! We also got an iced Americano which was good. The atmosphere is casual and cute and the art gallery was quaint and a nice touch, though the art is pricey. But I digress… Can’t wait to stop in again soon and provide additional info!
