I have been a true blue Rio Grande supporter and dinner at its start in Madison, NC. As usual, The food and atmosphere were excellent. The price is right the food is great the employees are friendly and it’s a great place to have dinner with your family.

Food was great as usual, but the service today was lousy. The salsa here is second to none. I had the Special Jose without the cheese and it was awesome. Chicken breast with peppers, onions and pinapple. Don’t know what was up with the servers but they need to fix it.

Have never tried this restaurant before — in fact, had never heard of it – but was in the mood for Mexican. Needed delivery. First, delivery was spot-on, the time delivered was almost on the minute for what I had requested. Food was not hot(but that’s not a huge deal for me, when I am ordering from home, as I can just reheat), delivery driver was very nice. I ordered Nachos Con Queso with only cheese. .. wish I had ordered more toppings. These were good though. .. my fault for not adding more. For main course, had Enchiladas Supreme. Very good & big serving. .. will have leftovers for sure. The only thing I would suggest is that they tell you exactly what is included, i.e., I ended up ordering extra chips to go with the guacamole dip I had ordered, not realizing they already sent two bags. The one thing I do have a bit of a gripe about is the price for the side of refried beans — $ 2.75 — for about what amounted to half a can of refried beans. Overall, though, was pretty good & I would certainly order from here again.

The monster Margarita is a must!!! Might want to split it unless you want to keep the experience to yourself and call an über/taxi or DD. Service is fast… A little too fast that it’s scary to me. I’ve been pleasantly surprised by the food. So far I’ve had the Arroz Hawaiiano and the tacos Jalisco Style. Both have big portions. The patio is also beautiful on a nice summer day. It’s lined with flowers and has a view of trees and a lake if you look through the trees.

Been looking for an awesome Mexican restaurant around here, and I found one! Food was delicious and very fulfilling. So good, I went twice in one day! Yes, TWICE in one day! The enchiladas are what I got. Prices are very low. Make the ride over here.

Food is pretty decent. The one in Oak Ridge is better in my opinion. They have the same 99 cents«Taco Tuesday» special, but there’s a catch, you have to buy a soft drink to get the special. So you might as well buy a lunch combo. Service was great, had multiple waiters check on us during our meal.

We were in a rush to get to the airport, but craving Mexican food on this beautiful Taco Tuesday. Lunch portion vs price = amazing. Joe, the owner, came to talk with us and showed us his genuine friendly persona. The whole staff was very efficient and nice. Was a beautiful lunch sitting outside in their open atmosphere. Perfect for some authentic Mexican food!(Try the chimichanga & gauc).

Solid food here. They had a late menu with a lot of different things I wanted to try. There are a lot of great Mexican restaurants in Greensboro and I was expecting to be let down when coming here, but Rio Grande held their own. Would come back for sure.

Love love love this place! My favorite is the rice, chicken and sausage dish. Perfectly cheesy and flavored. Enough for leftover the next day. If you’re a fan of cheese, you must try the cheese sauce. So good!

I was able to come back here and had a much better experience. The chips were very fresh and delicious. The service was faster this time also. I ordered fish tacos and loved them, especially the sauce. The tortillas were fresh too. My daughter had cheese quesadilla and devoured that too. She had a fruit cup but i was a little bummed that they were from a can and didn’t eat it. The business owner is awesome and really cares!

One of the best Mexican restaurants I’ve been to in a while. The food is always spot on and the staff is incredibly helpful and polite. Also, their salsa is AMAZING. Not over exaggerating in the slightest. SO good.

I am new to Greensboro, well North Carolina in general. We are from ny and are used to having plenty of restaurants to go to. I took my kids to Rio Grande for the first time today. The food was delicious. The salsa and chips that they bring you when you sit I’d probably some of the best salsa I ever had. I ordered the steak tacos. It came with rice. It was delicious. Way better then my expectations. The staff was soo friendly and kept checking on us throughout the meal. The amount of food for the price is great. Can’t wait to bring my husband here next time. Gonna try the fajitas.

Don’t try and go on your lunch hour, you will definitely be late getting back to work. The service was very slow. My friends food came out before mine and I had to finally ask someone to check on mine. When it came out a good 15 min. later it was cold. I ordered the spinach quesadilla and it had maybe a tablespoon of spinach on it and the rest was cheese. If I had wanted a cheese quesadilla I would have ordered one. We never received an apology for the mix up with the food, just here you go and here is your check. I would think during the week that restaurants would try and get the food out on time since so many people have to get back to work and only have an hour for lunch. Needless to say with the poor service and the quality of the food, I will not be going back.

Excellent salsa and ranch! I had the pick 2, burrito, enchilada, rice and beans for little less than $ 9. Very good! The guy who rang me up was very nice.

So, we decided to give this place another try, only because the GM actually took the time to contact me and asked me to come back after my first review. I was completely shocked, because these days it just seems people don’t care. It says a lot when people actually take the time to read reviews and attempt to make it better. The food was much, much better and the service was awesome. We will definitely be back. Thanks Joe!

Finally got around to trying the newest of the Rio Grande«chain» — pretty much the same menu, pretty much the same results — always some good, always some very average or even worse, and always some service malfunctions on take out orders. The differences in the menu are few, and nothing really significant — the«Gringo» selections offer fewer burger choices, and have added a Cheesesteak, and Maria’s BBQ Sandwich — Pork Carnitas with BBQ Sauce. The Nachos Con Queso with Beef Tips(now $ 5.94) is an excellent appetizer, and the portion is decent, but this item is still overpriced. The Rip Dip($ 4.95) is also very, very good. The Salsa is every bit as good here as at the Downwind location — loaded with cilantro & onion, and packing some heat. But as with the other location they skimp on the amount of salsa, on salsa, for goodness sakes — on a nearly $ 50 order with 4 entrees &2 appetizers, they send FOUR bags of chips, and only TWO very small containers of salsa. How completely cheap, and unwise! The Jalisco Style Tacos($ 9.95 for 4) are very good, especially the Diablo & Al Pastor. They use 2 tortillas with each taco, which works very well for take out because by the time you get ready to eat, the innermost tortilla is mushy — just flip the fillings over into the outer one, and you’re good to go The ACP($ 8.50) was very, very ordinary — rather dry & bland, thin pieces of white meat chicken, with very little cheese — and the cheese makes this dish, without it, you pretty much have dry chicken on dry rice, which is about what we ended up with The Chile Relleno($ 3.95 a la carte) was very, very good. The 3 item Combo($ 9.25 with Rice & Beans) was pretty much a mess — the enchilada was beef rather than the chicken, as requested — and the ground beef, which was also in the burrito and the soft taco, was just average, perhaps less. All in all, typical Rio Grande — the good, the bad, the ugly, and the just plain cheap. Very frustrating. Going back seems unlikely.

We went to Rio for lunch today, and it was fantastic. It was our first time at this location. I thought it was much better than Oak Ridge. I know that there are more«authentic» Mexican places in the city, but our food was spot on today. The chips and salsa were both great, and when we asked for a hot salsa, our server brought us killer good habanero salsa that we couldn’t stop eating. She even gave us the recipe. I had the enchiladas, and they were delicious! My husband tried a combo – a shrimp chimichanga(to die for slathery yum), a tamale(excellent), and a stuffed poblano pepper(amazing). Our meal was just over 20 dollars, and we couldn’t finish it. We raved about everything the whole time we ate, and left satisfied. We both love good food and love to cook. We rarely go out to eat because we don’t want to be disappointed. So many restaurants are mediocre. Rio definitely is not! The drink specials sounded great. We will go back again for dinner and sit outside on a night there is live music.
