We took our two children, ages 1 and 2, to Dr. Hisaw and liked him very much. However, when we got our bill in the mail we were surprised to find that we owed money, Our insurance covers 100% of preventative dental care and that was all that they boys needed. When I called the office and spoke with the individual who handles the billing, I was told that their office is not in network with any insurance plans. Therefore, they bill whatever they deem«fit» and the insurance company reimburses their standard rate. As parents we are then responsible for the balance. I asked her, for clarification, «Hypothetically, you could charge $ 500 for a procedure that insurance deems appropriate to reimburse at $ 100, and we would then be responsible for paying you $ 400.» She said yes, that is exactly what it meant. We sent them in the check for the«balance» we owed and removed our children from the practice immediately. BEFORWARNED.

The Dentist himself is great. My daughter enjoys going and always receives a thorough exam. We started off with Dr. Miller who is the best pediatric dentist I have ever met but he retired and since then Dr. Hisaw has taken over. I think he is great also. The only reason I did not give them a perfect score is because the person who makes appointments can be rude. I asked for a later appointment since we dont live in Greensboro she acted like that wasn’t possible and was really snappy about it and this isn’t the first time. Because of her I almost wanted to switch but I don’t like dealing with finding new dentist. Overall though the office is great and kid friendly and the dental hygienist and the dentist himself are great as well.

The first time I took my 3year old son to see Dr. Hisaw, it was a great visit. Dr. Hisaw was great with my son and very friendly. My son had a visible cavity on his tooth and when I called to make an appointment, I was told I had to wait an entire month before he could be seen(only because they couldn’t do his checkup before, not for being overbooked). I was told he could be seen if it started to bother him. I was upset and called another dentist who saw and took care of the problem the very next day and my son is no longer a patient of Dr. Hisaw. I called the office to let them know he’s no longer a patient and still received a msg saying he was overdue. I called(today) and the receptionist was extremely rude. I don’t recommend this dentist.
