Wow! It’s like getting your hair cut in a Wes Anderson movie. Such lovely attention to detail. Best ambience of a hair salon ever. There are little sticks of honey at the register when you go. I mean — come on. So many little things to look at while you wait, get a li’l Keurig cuppa, get the ol’ washeroo, have a chit chat with the stylist, and relax for the cut. Women’s cuts range from $ 50-​$ 80 (pricing by stylist is on their lovely web site). Beth who cut my ridiculous outgrown pixie into something cute and presentable does bang trims for free. Others might too, I’d just ask when you book if that’s important to you? Beth (recommended) was really chill and thoughtful and didn’t rush through that all-​important pre-​cut conversation, which I really appreciated. Sometimes, like, my whole life spent jumping from stylist to stylist, those have always felt like timed oral examinations that I always fail.

I had a great consultation with Kelly! She listened to my thoughts and idea and we came up with a great plan! I LOVE the peekaboo red violet highlights! The salon was clean, and all the staff from the receptionist to the stylists were friendly and inviting. I will be going back when I need a touch up! Great salon in Greensboro!

I moved to Winston Salem about a year ago and was dreading the whole experience of trying out salons to find the perfect hairdresser/​stylist. Decided to try Local Honey after reading the reviews on Unilocal.I’m glad I did! Cat is an awesome stylist — gave lots of excellent tips on how to style my hair, patient and most importantly, awesome at what she does! I always get lots of compliments on my hair, all thanks to Cat!

First visit and all around a wonderful experience. From the phone call scheduling to fit me in, to the very welcoming atmosphere as I arrived. I had the pleasure to have a cut from one of the best, J. I can’t compliment the talent enough. He is a superb technician, who truly takes every bit of consideration into his work. I will be traveling to come back!

I decided to give this place a try because the reviews were so high, but as soon as I got home I regretted it. The salon itself looks really cool, I love the style of the place but not so much the stylist. I went in wanting one thing done to my hair, but the stylist insisted my hair was too damaged to do it, so I went ahead with what she suggested. While she was doing my hair she disclosed a lot of pretty personal information to me. When I would try to respond to her it was pretty clear she wasn’t listening to me. It’s like she was talking at me, or having a conversation with herself. It was pretty awkward. At any rate, I tell her that I’d really like my hair to be layered as mine is so thick, my hair curls nicely when some of the weight is taken off the top. Totally disregards me. Most likely because she was rambling on about her personal problems. The salon is super expensive too, which would have been fine if I felt like the experience deserved so much of my money. Not to mention, they don’t actually take debit cards. Instead, they have an atm in the building. Anyways, the hair color turned out to be pretty mediocre. She bitched and complained at me when I told her I’d been dying it myself. I was trying to explain to her that yes, I realize that’s not ideal but it took me awhile to find work after college and I had more important things to spend my money on. So yeah, I am not going back here.

Just got a great style and cut from the team at LH. Came in a bit stressed and had no idea what I wanted this birds nest of hair to look like; from the hot towel at the beginning to the handshake at the end it was a great experience and cleared my head for the rest of the day!
And the hair looks great.

Holy cow how amazing is local honey? It’s super cute, with fresh honey for sale along with other pretty cool products. Molly has been doing my hair for about a year now and she always does a fantastic job! I have never had someone listen to my likes and dislikes and then make a color formula or haircut so perfect for me. she really takes her time trying to make sure of what I want and before I know it, my fairy god mother has me ready to go! The entire staff is super sweet and will remember you once you go in a few times. It’s obvious that they focus highly on continuing education as they are always talking to each other and asking opinions on techniques if they are not familiar with such. Jay has really out done himself on the quality of his facility and his team! As long as Molly isn’t going anywhere any time soon, I’m certainly not!

Dropped in about a week ago as I was passing through town. The place is really nice and relaxing. The staff is especially cordial. Great haircut from a new member of their team, Ashley Turner. Her only direction was to make me look respectable and she out did herself because she made me look cool too. With a face made for radio, that is tough to do. Best part is that the wife really liked it too. I would recommend Ashley and the Local Honey salon to anyone.

I have wavy hair and Cat gave me the best cut I have had in close to 10 years. I highly recommend her.

Guys, I really really wanted to give you a good review. The place is super cute and the whole design and decoration of the place is great. And you have decent coffee in the waiting room!
But I got a bad haircut over there, the worst is years… I am partly to blame, since I went to a stylist I didn’t know and I trusted her way too much (meaning I didn’t give any specifics other than approximate length and that I wanted my hair to frame my face, which is pretty generic). I was told when I made the appointment that this stylist knew how to cut curly hair, but she profoundly didn’t understand how my hair curls. (If it’s shorter than a certain length, it does not curl and makes these irregular funny waves that make my hair look like a cow licked it, no matter how much curling product I put in it…) The cut is irregular in a weird way and I don’t think is very salvageable, so I have to wait until it grows out.
I won’t be going back, no matter how cute the décor or the fact that you all were very nice and served me coffee…
Sigh.

The best — absolute best — salon in Greensboro. Love the relaxed but hip vibe and the stylists are top notch. I followed my stylist here since she moved from another salon and have just loved the change of pace and modern casual vintage (don’t think that is a thing? — check this place out!) salon. Also enjoy the local sources honey offered for sale. A wide range of products for sale too. I am a three hour appt… every 7 weeks so trust that I know my salons. I know you just will not be disappointed — this place offers barbershop services for the men too. Fantastic place… get your next «do» done here!

Y’all got to check this place out! The salon is really neat and I can really dig the whole carefully curated concept of the place. From the local brews to the great selection of grooming products, this place is on the honey! (Hehe)
I have been going to Jay for a couple years before he started local honey and unfortunately have not found anyone even close to as talented when it comes to cutting hair. I say unfortunately because the 40 min drive to Greensboro is not ideal to get my hair did, but I have come to the realization that it is totally worth it. After trying almost every salon in the WS area, I have come to the conclusion that sometimes beauty emits a larger carbon footprint.
He has been the only stylist that I have gone to who really seems to understand my cray cray curly hair, which is why I will continue to make the 40 min hike to downtown Greensboro every 4 months. Plus, it gives me an excuse to try cool new places for dinner while I am here!

I am from Greensboro but have lived in NYC for the last eight years. I got a last-​minute cut from Caitlin on a visit back home in September. She did a fantastic job and I could tell, even two months later, what a precise cut it was since my hair had grown out very nicely and still looked sharp.
I’ve gone to a number of different salons in New York and only a very expensive few can compare to the quality of this cut. Caitlin even gave me styling advice and didn’t rush me out of her chair once we were done. I highly recommend her and this salon. I wish I could go back often enough to only have her cut my hair, but I have to take my chances in New York.

Very good and unusual salon. Cat is one of the best haircutters iI have ever used. The salon has a relaxed atmosphere in a renovated older building in downtown Greensboro. In addition to traditional services they also sell a line of naturally based products including locally raised honey.

No one will leave here without the best possible experience from a skilled, experienced staff that Greensboro is fortunate to have. Consequently, clients always return because of the unequaled skills and sincere concern for their happiness and satisfaction.

Local Honey is my only choice for hair! I followed Jay here, and I am awed at what he has been able to accomplish in such a short time. I love the fact that they are a small local business, promoting other small local businesses. The décor is unique and you feel welcome the moment you walk in. You are not just another number here, and I have always gotten exactly what I want with my hair. Highly recommended.

Got a cut and style here this morning. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. My hair looks and feels great, as it always does. Emily always listens closely to what I want and takes her time. If I want something different she always has great ideas. The receptionist is very good at matching clients to stylists based on the individual needs of the client. The products they use are wonderful, as is the décor. Plenty of parking and easy to find. I already have an appointment booked for my next cut.
