Made my first trip to the new Greene County Recycling Center today. The location is a little isolated(2 – 3 miles(?) off the main road/away from Home Depot) & seemed deserted when I got there, which made me a little bit nervous, but the web site & brochure say there’s an employee on duty. The employee was probably inside where it was cool. Anyway, I hadn’t been there long when other people showed up and I didn’t feel so alone/isolated. The center is very logically laid out, with clear signs about where to put what. Very easy to understand, and they accept quite a few kinds of recyclables. There’s also a «swap shop,» where you can put things that are still in working order. I unloaded a working television and crock pot there. I took a peek around, and while there wasn’t anything I wanted to take today, I’ll definitely be back to check it out again. There were some books and a couple of computer monitors as well as some furniture in the swap shop. The whole thing is free for residents of Greene County. Well, prepaid with tax dollars, anyway. Open Mon-Sat 7 am to 6 pm, Sun 1 pm to 7 pm. Unilocal’s map is wrong. Turn off 44 at Home Depot onto Meadowcrest Road. It’s a few miles down on the left.
