Maybe you are like me and you get into Greenport after a red eye flight from the west coast and you drive out to Long Island and then you get there and you are hungry and tired and you’re thinking, «what do I do now?» This is a great spot to go if you are in that situation. I got a Denver omelette with toast and potatoes and it was just what I needed. Welcome to Greenport. This place is cash only, so make sure you have some cash. There’s lots of funky beach town places in this town and this is one of them. This was an easy place to go with a 5 year old. Good for kids.

Well after being afraid to eat my omelette when the waitress brought our food, I go to look out the window and see a huge cockroach on the window, about 4 inches from my face. I truly almost threw up. This place does definitely not meet a rating that is suitable for people to come inside and eat. My fiancé and I left with the food still on the plates without even thinking twice.

Perfect place for a home cooked FRESH breakfast. Blueberry pancakes were fresh and delicious as were the omelettes. Service was friendly and attentive. Coffee was very good! Just be aware, they only accept CASH.

Great spot for lunch. I ordered a tuna melt on rye. The sandwich was great as were the french fries. The coleslaw was good, but had too much dressing in it. My favorite part of lunch was the fresh lemonade I ordered, simply delicious.

This place is everything that Greenport stands for. You walk in and you feel like you’re in Greenport the way it was in the 50’s. The service was friendly and the food was absurdly good. We went for breakfast and the food was fresh and delicious. Very fairly priced. If you are visiting Greenport and looking for an authentic experience you would be making a big mistake skipping this joint.

After reading John N’s review, I had to try this place for breakfast. I’m not QUITE as enthusiastic as John, but it was really good. Very clean, older diner with a friendly staff. They goofed on my order, but were very apologetic and fixed it right away. We had eggs over medium with bacon and sautéed veggies. Very good and quick. The bacon was different and delicious. Thin and less salty. We’ll be back the next time we’re here!

Went out to Greenport yesterday for the day, and stopped in this cool little diner for a late lunch. We really enjoyed our food that we got here. I ordered the turkey club sandwich, and my girlfriend ordered the California Rueben. Both sandwiches were very filling and good. I especially loved the homemade French fry chips they served with the sandwiches. Definitely a good spot to stop for an easy good meal.

Pretty decent for diner food. I came with my boyfriend for a late breakfast/early lunch. I had the lobster bisque which was tasty but zero chunks of lobster in it… Or anything for that matter. I had one of the special omelets– the Italian– with tomatoes, basil and fresh mozzarella. It was pretty good except for the mozzarella making the whole thing pretty watery. My boyfriend got 2 eggs over easy and corn beef hash which he enjoyed. Food was overall fine for a diner. It was the employees that weren’t the greatest. One young girl working there made it apparent she was pretty miserable and didn’t want to be there. Everyone she seated that asked if they could sit at a particular table she said no to and made them sit elsewhere. It’s a diner, not a fine dining restaurant with countless tables. Our meals were supposed to come with fresh OJ, according to the menu. We had to ask for them, which wasn’t a huge deal, but they came in tiny shot glass-sized glasses. When it was time to pay, I was told they were cash only. This wouldn’t have been a problem if there was one single sign anywhere that said this(luckily there is an ATM nearby by boyfriend ran to). Overall just okay. I probably won’t go back. I’m sure there are better places to grab breakfast nearby.

Disappointed since the last time I was there, lobster bisque soup was rich an creamy… Delicious, but the lobster may have escape from my soup! Chilly cheeseburger ordered med. chilli was chilly and the burger was red. Would I try it again? There are a lot of great restaurants in town we have to get to, so I guess not. But for first timers… Gotta give it a shot.

A week later and still thinking about this place. Try the thick cut rye bread and potatoes(home fries).

They messed up the order twice and were very defensive about it, to the point where the waitress took out the pad to show us. Didn’t refill coffee, water or even ask how the meal was. Would never go back. And it is cash only. Keep walking down Main Street for better options

We just left Coronet Diner — hungry! I rate the omelet a 3 out of ten(I left ¾ uneaten) and the potatoes a ZERO. They tasted old and looked like they came out of a can. The food was horrible. How can anyone screw up an omelet? They can! To add insult to injury, the cook in the back(can’t call the person who made these omelets a chef) was pounding out chicken cutlets for the first 10 minutes we were there. I told the waitress that unless the noise stopped we would leave and go across the street. Well, I should have done because now I’m spending valuable time with this review. But like I told my boyfriend, I’m doing a community service and letting the public know the truth about this food. Yes, one more thing, the bathrooms! OMG! Both men’s and ladies rooms open into the dining area. A strong smell of urine came from the ladies room and wafted into the dining room. My boyfriend said the men’s room was disgusting! BTW, any idiot can squeeze an orange!

I like fresh OJ and this place has it. Squeezed from real oranges! Imported direct from Florida. «Interior is dated and worn out.» True but I am not going to eat the furniture. I had an omelet. Good but not exceptional. Bruce’s was mentioned as an alternative. That’s not a bad choice, but if you are looking for a basic diner experience without the frills of Bruce’s Coronet is the place. The crowds prove it. I checked casual for ambiance. It is slightly diveier than that

Unilocal has this place all wrong. $ 8 for an omelette at a ‘diner’ is a bit extreme. Interior is dated and worn out. Food is barely ‘OK’. You get a shot of fresh OJ which is nice. Pancake(1 for $ 4!) was heavy and tasteless. Wife took one bite and complained to the waitress who said, «I’m sorry.» but never offered to take it off the bill! And Unilocal is wrong. They DON’T take credit cards… cash only. Stay away! Go across the street to Bruce’s!

Great place for a hearty, no-frills breakfast. Pancakes, French toast, omelets, eggs, bacon, and all that goodness. The coffee is tasty and hot. The service was friendly and quick.

OK, so you’re out for the weekend. The kids have run you ragged, you’re dehydrated, exhausted, and looking at another day at the beach trying to figure out why you didn’t just stay at the hotel and let them marinate in the chlorinated pool instead. That’s exactly why you go to the Coronet early. First, this place has hands-down the best coffee in Greenport. So you throw some caffeine onto the fire and then plot. You need to slow the little boogers down. What better than with a carb heavy breakfast of pancakes and french toast? The food is very good, whether you get omelettes or something carby. Unlike the rest of the artsy-fartsy faux-eateries that have taken over town, you can actually order something you WANT instead of what’s on the menu(looking at you Bruce’s — how the hell does a place make a dozen different omelettes but not know how to cook an egg over easy?!). No, here you get what you want, how you want it, and it’s served to perfection. If you’re looking to stave off that hangover, you want their homemade corned beef hash with two eggs over easy(again, really Bruce?!). Their lunch is pretty darn good too. And they’re another place that’s been doing it forever. Too bad they’re not open for dinner, I’d love to have another crack at them in the evening.

Great eggs over easy. The chicken Caesar salad is also excellent. Good cup o joe. Recommend it even though the décor is tired.

The Coronet(est. 1949) is an old-timey corner diner in the middle of the historic Greenport harbor village. They serve classics like breakfast all day, bottomless coffee and traditional milkshakes. Try the pancakes or malt waffles. Mmm, maalt… For breakfast, brunch or lunch, you can’t do better than the Coronet, unless diners aren’t your thing, in which case we don’t have a lot in common. It is one of the oldest establishments(1949) in the delightful downtown Greenport area so it’s worth checking out just for the people watching, local culture, and retro reminiscing!
