Short answer: Don’t do business with him. Mr. Sebastian Rekuc has been extremely inconsiderate and rude to me and my partner in many occasions, to the point were we decided not to do business with him anymore. Long answer: In March of 2014, a friend living in an apartment on 224 Metropolitan Ave in Williamsburg moved out and rented us his apartment for 4 months, and in July 2014 we decided to contact the agent of the building owner, Mr. Rekuc, to sign a lease contract and make the apartment officially ours. From our very first call, Mr. Rekuc was unpleasant, unwilling to help, and insisted that we should pay him 15% of the annual rent in real estate fees, even though we were already living in the apartment for several months. After a week of trying to reach him again on the phone, and to avoid another NYC move, we tried to make it work with him, so went to his apartment in 180 Nassau Ave in Greenpoint to negotiate the terms of the lease and the fee. While we were introducing ourselves and explaining our business, he slammed the door in our face and told us to «give him his money» and«f*** off his building.» At this point, it was clear to us that Mr. Rekuc is just another awful and greedy NYC broker looking to do the very minimum for the maximum profit. There’s so many more like him, and since we didn’t find any reviews about him, we decided to take it to Unilocal and let prospective tenants know who they’re dealing with. Do yourself a favor and work with honest and reputable Real Estate agents, not him.

Lesson learned: Never give cash to cool-blooded unscrupulous brokers in NYC. We made the horrific mistake of giving this guy the fee in CASH. This was back in June(2 months ago) and we still haven’t got our money back. Our apartment application for an apartment at 222 Metropolitan Ave was rejected, and since we have no receipts or any type of confirmation from Mr. Rekuc, he refused to give us the $ 1,700 fee back over the phone. He’s not even answering the phone when we call from our cellphones. We’re on our way to make a legal dispute in the next few days, since that may be the only way to get this straight. SAVEYOURSELF the frustration of dealing with scammers like Mr. Sebastian L. Rekuc. If you are too a victim, write this number down: 10491203157, his NYS business license number. Call 311 and give them the details of your case. Our lawyer even indicated that he’s not a «Licensed Real Estate Salesperson» he just has a license to operate an LLC business.
