If you like a good good little piece of fried pork then this is the place to go. From time to time I’ll crave some carnitas tacos and this will always satisfy my cravings. Crunchy on the outside and soft in the middle with that salty taste always hits the spot. As I write this I’m getting myself hungry just thinking about them they’re that good. As you drive by it just looks like another little grocery store but if you’re ever driving down El Camino Real take a couple minutes and go in to check it out. They have other hot foods available too like fresh roasted chicken which is also yummy. All the staff is super friendly and helpful as well!

We were on our way to LA from the Bay Area and needed to stop for gas. Just our luck, no really, that we ended up in Greenfield. The tanks were filled up, but our bellies were empty. We ask the gas station cashier what’s the best place for lunch… she kindly advises us that all there is is Mexican food, lol. Yes, that’s what we were hoping. She happily recommends El Michoacano and off we go. I guess my Spanish is rusty because I saw a storefront sign that said«La Michoacana» and we stopped there. Just our luck, no really. The smells from the hot food in the back were so enticing. We appreciated the huge picture menu on the wall to help us decide on the roast chicken plate. As our food was being prepared, a fresh pan of carnitas was brought out. Not sure if it was the drool or our bug eyes, but the kind gentleman behind the counter grabbed a sheet of foil and tore off a piece of the carnitas for us to taste! O.M.G. I regretted getting the roast chicken, haha. But not for long. First, you get a half chicken, fries, rice, beans, fresh guac, and choice of corn/flour tortillas for just $ 10. Everything was delicous. The chicken was flavorful, the rice was fluffy, fries nice and crispy, the beans were perfect. It was a feast. We joked with the cashier that we made a mistake and thought this was El Michoacano. He smiled and said«No, our food is better». I won’t argue with that.

Came by for lunch. Thought I’d give it a try. Just got a regular burrito of carnitas, it was delicious. I wanted tacos but this hit the spot. Will be back for sure.

Haven’t been here for so long I forgot what day to come to get the ribs so when I showed up today I found out the ribs are only on Friday Saturday so all I left with was a piece of chicharon. Good food here though including the roasted chicken.

I nearly choked and gagged on droll due to the delicious food. My droll reminded me of a half starved Saint Bernard. All I can say is tacos tacos. .burritos burritos and chicharrones. Washed it all down with coke and exited with a full belly and a big smile. Have been back on 2 other occasions and the quality of the food was consistently good. This is going to be my né work local hang out.

I got a small town feeling while in this store, fast service, friendly staff ready to help you. I’m not into all the meats they have, however if that’s your thing, this place is for you.

I went to Tienda La Michoacana to pick up a few items from the grocery store and to grab a quick dinner. I ordered up a California Burrito — carne asada, french fries, fresh made guacomole, salsa, and some crema. Man, this burrito was huge, and for only $ 5.50. I could only finish half and saved the other half for later. All the food options looked real good and authentic. This taqueria is located in the back of a mexican grocery, so don’t expect to find seating or waiter service, but the food is well above par.

Love this place. It’s our«go to» stop when traveling from/to San Fran. Can’t be beat for authentic, quick mexican food on the go. Check out the grocery store, too, for great prices on the mexican staples. All previous reviews are spot on.

Great little place. Stopped in early for breakfast, had the tamale plate, excellent. The salsa is hot and tasty. Nowhere to sit, everything’s to go. Asked where we might find a place for a good cuppa coffee, he directed us to a bakery across the street. Great coffee, bread looked good, will try it on our way back. Very friendly people.

I thought I was the only one. Like all the others whom have travelled before me, I stopped here for deliciousness, namely a soda, but we were hungry too! We got gas on the way to SLO! El Mocajete recently burnt down. Shame for sure. The wonderful gentleman at the farmers market on the road told us this was the best place in town to go. Um, no joke! We walked into the back on the wee grocery store. Little couple was cooking and it was just like La Cristinas cooking. My guy had amazing tacos, I was flipping out, as I had to pull over to savor the bite of taco I just had! Pork tamales for me. Wooo knock my socks off. And the beans, what?!! The beans were out of this world!!! La Sra. knew how to make beans no questions asked. On our next SLO run, we are sooo there! La Michoacana, you are amazing!!!

Was super hungry on the way to SLO. My GF bought the most amazing tomatoes a few blocks away at a real farmers market. Walked into this place. A great Mexican store with a butcher and taqueria at the back. I was expecting what you would normally find at a place like this a decent burrito or taco. Well I had two asada tacos which were excellent. very soft and savory meat with a some what spicy Ortega type salsa very very good. My gf bought some tamales which were good too, but the beans OMG the beans. Dear beans, you were so deliciouso made with butter and love. How i will fantasize about you. TTFN, Chuck

Like other Unilocalers, I checked for restaurants to eat on way north to Roseville. We found this restaurant next to Burger King’s– La Michoacana is a gem in treasure! I ordered Chile Relleno and they were excellent. The chips are unique because of the thickness. The salsa are unbelievably amazing! I will go there again whenever I get hungry on the road! :-)

We drive down 101 from San Francisco to San Luis Obispo or Santa Barbara County a few times each year. When you take the same route over and over again, you start to develop habits — stop at this gas station, eat at this fast food joint. A few years back, we stopped by Greenfield for gas a couple of days after Christmas. I went to my regular gas station, but Tino noticed Tienda la Michoacana was right next door. He decided to go in and grab a bite. He came out with the most amazing tacos ever, along with a traditional calendar emblazoned with the store’s address. We hung the calendar up, which made it easy for us to track down the store the next time we were making the drive. Tienda la Michoacana is a little grocery/market, although it recently expanded into a space double the original size. It carries a lot of items that you can only find in Mexican markets. But the real reason we always visit is the counter in the back where you can get fresh hot tacos, burritos, and other yummy stuff. Stopping by is now part of our highway tradition. The staff is friendly, and the food is amazing.
