Steak ‘n Shake

Stopped in around 4pm. Completely filthy dining Room! The bathrooms were even more disgusting! Never again!

As one who travels a LOT, I like Steak n Shake when I want a quick meal and to get out of the car for a bit. This one is located right off of Interstate 70, and is a good place for a pit stop when I want to grab a bite and stretch my legs a little bit.
Unfortunately, this particular store isn’t up to the standards of the others I’ve visited. It seems they’re ALWAYS understaffed and tables are left not cleaned and service tends to be quite a bit slower than others I’ve visited.

This was the WORST experience I have EVER had at a Steak N’ Shake. Our waitress was SO RUDE. We waited for an hour for our food and she didn’t even bring out our shakes or waters, and then when our food came out it wasn’t even what we ordered. Worst experience ever. I wish I could rate this place 0 stars.

Always love Steak ‘n Shake. The food is always good but the service is always lacking.
Just went through drive thru and always feel like i have to double check all the food before I leave. I paid for cheese sauce and when I got home it wasn’t in the bag. It isn’t worth complaining about because I have to call then let them know or drive all the way back over there and explain you forgot something. Then by the time I get it my food is already cold that I was going to eat it with so there is no real point in trying.
I wish they would check because I don’t like ruined meals and having to ask for stuff I paid for. The 1 time I don’t check there is something forgotten.

Let me start by saying that I LOVE Steak N Shake food. With that said, it is hit or miss if your order will be correct. This doesn’t apply to just drive through. It has gotten to the point where not only did I contact their corporate office about it, I also actively avoid eating there as much as possible. I do however still crave it and stop in every few months. Sadly nothing ever seems to change.

WHO WANTS FOOD POISONING???
Seriously folks it’s the SS; on par with Waffle House and White Castle. A Unilocal review probably isn’t going to steer you away from this bad decision. It certainly didn’t hinder my extended family from stopping here and spending the next 2 days hovering over my toilet.

Worst experience. Came just before ten pm on Sunday, entire dining room was a disaster, a very large group (15) was waiting on their food, only one group in front of ours for take out though so we thought we’d be okay. After ordering I realized the kitchen was a complete mess too. We waited 25 minutes for a cold burger and fries and a chili Mac so covered with cheese I couldn’t eat it. I refuse to come back to this location and will next be getting in touch with corporate.

This location is terrible. I just waited for nearly 20 minutes at the drive thru on a Wednesday afternoon at 1:30 PM. This isn’t the first time we have had bad service there either. One time we were inside and after 45 minutes asked where our order was, only to find that they never put the order in. I said just forget it were leaving, and the waitress still had the audacity to ask us to pay $ 1.69 for each of the cokes that we had! Appalling level of customer service.

First off, this is probably one of the worst restaurants I have ever been to. They are chronically slow, «oops we forgot to put your order in» attitude, and it doesn’t matter how many people aren’t there. They have a reputation for being the slowest around. I’m talking like 45 minutes to get your food. And the kicker-​a pubic hair was found in one of my friends’ cheese dip. Yes a real one, yes we are sure. When the manager was confronted, she had a «ha ha, no you didn’t attitude», and basically just blew it off. Needless to say, I’ve seen the last of that place and I sure wouldn’t recommend it to anyone. unless you like to wait 45 minutes for your pubic-​laced cheese sauce, and God knows what else.

They ran out of fries last night and the ran out of fries for the 2^nd time yet today!!! So during our visit they have no fries for at least an entire 1hour! So since I don’t like or want any of their other sides I got the Dbl Cheeseburger ONLY & it only .31cents less w/​o getting a side that they didn’t have available. Poor planning, scheduling, ordering or transit on someone’s part by Steak ‘n Shake!!! When we got our order there was something missing out of 3 of the 4 orders! I’m a big fan of Steak ‘n Shake, but the one in Greenfield, Indiana stinks!

We were a group of ten and Haley was great as a server– we were impressed. Everyone got burgers and fries and were pleased with their meals. I got the apple harvest salad and didn’t like it at all– it had not one Apple on it! And it wasn’t a «lettuce blend» but big pieces of only iceberg lettuce and had some random red chips and cheese in it (maybe from my aunt’s taco salad?) I shouldn’t order salads at burger places but it looked good on the menu. So my food would be one star but the service was great and others liked their food. The fries are thin and crispy and awesome.

Oh my where to begin. We stopped in at 1:30am, there were 3 groups of two at tables and eight «clean» tables open. All the other tables had plates and cups all over. Kitchen staff could be heard gossiping and the waitress was uncaring and seemed to have a complete disregard for the state of the restaurant. She did state that «It is a bit messy, I haven’t gotten around to cleaning tables.»
While waiting to order went to use the bathroom… Only to find it utterly disgusting. It hadn’t been cleaned and the garbage was overflowing. Needless to say I skipped on using those facilities.
Back at the table, I would say the service was quick and the quality of the food was as expected. Except the fries were cold and the coleslaw ordered was warm… As though both had been sitting out for awhile. The serving tray the waitress used was disgusting and seemed to have not been cleaned in quite sometime.
The entire time we were there the staff had moments they could have been keeping up on dishes and service, but as stated before just didn’t seem to care.
We are glad we don’t live here and will never have the opportunity to visit this Steak N’ Shake again. We tend to enjoy this chain and this specific restaurant was a major disappointment.

Well, I reviewed this particular Steak N Shake not too long ago and gave it 3 stars. Not sure whats happened recently, but I felt like I had to revise my review. My wife and I got cold food here a few weeks ago. Okay, sometimes it happens. Went again-​even worse. Completely old, cold, nasty food. So bad my wife actually called and complained. They said they would replace the order, which they did– with more cold stuff! The worst part was we waited over 20 minutes! And still cold. It was so bad it was almost funny. But not gonna be going here for any more laughs for awhile.

Stopped in for a drink and pitstop, but ended up having a meal. Sweetie had a royale (without cheese…) which was very good. I had the Santa Fe burger, which was also very good. Monterey jack cheese mixed with pico de gallo, tortilla strips on top, jalapenos… Tasty but not too hot (don’t want to make anyone else in the car uncomfortable…) I also had a Heath bar shake– very thick, tasty, and nice even on a cold night.
Steak N Shake is reliable if not superb, but this time the food was particularly good and the service was excellent. Made this leg of our trip pretty fun.

Good, quick service, but the food wasn’t that great. Had a chicken sandwich. Guess I should have had a steakburger.

Bergers are great, fries were fresh and hot, milkshake was delicious, and service was surprisingly quick. Very affordably for a quick stop Berger joint
