Maybe it’s because in college when I was not quite the baller I am now, I ate Sonny’s with my baseball team 3 times per week because the dining hall would be closed after practice and what college athlete could argue with all you can eat protein for $ 8? I seem to have developed a taste for it because fast forward over a decade since college, I still take every opportunity I can to visit Sonny’s when I am visiting Florida or Georgia on business. The best thing about this Sonny’s(besides our SUPERHOT waitress who used to play college softball) is that the quality is consistent to what I remember in college. Great smoky tasting meats, tasty sauces and oh … that sweet tea I can never find up north! I was a bit bummed that they switched the design to some kind of hipster pseudo-W Hotel looking design. When I eat BBQ, I want to be in a place with pine paneling on the walls, sauce stained green carpeting and lots of brass on the salad bar. This place felt more like the lobby of a Courtyard by Marriott than a family BBQ restaurant. Besides that, Sonny’s didn’t let us down. We definitely ate more than we would have in a non-all you can eat place. But the food was so good. Nothing special … nothing fancy … just comfort food at it’s finest. Not sure why all the other reviews are pretty bad. Maybe the hot waitress quit.

Great service, delicious BBQ most friendly staff. Being new to this town, we area still exploring and Sonnys did not let us down. The food was yummy, made to order and delivered in a timely manner. The best part of the meal was the service. Such a friendly and courteous staff greeted us upon arrival. Our server Gabe was just the best. Upon leaving we were told«thanks and come back» by no less than five staff members. We will be back.

TERRIBLESERVICE… Went here Monday night(04÷11÷16) with my wife and toddler. We were quickly seated and then forgotten. We sat waiting for ten minutes with absolutely no service. My wife asked one of the waitresses for assistance and 5 minutes after asking, still no service. We walked out after 15 minutes of being forgotten about… not even drink orders. We decided to go to Mississippi Sweets bbq a few miles West of Sonnys. We had a much better experience and excellent food. It should be noted that Sonny’s was not short staffed. There were 5 – 6 waitresses standing up front talking to each other. The restaurant only had 2 other tables seated. WEWONTBEBACKTOSONNYS.

Usually don’t write reviews but my family has been coming to this particular Sonny’s for years now. The new décor is really nice; and the food is as good. Don’t order any«beef brisket;» they don’t really give you much. As far as the pork or baby back ribs«you’re good to go.» Also, make sure to grab a to go cup of whatever you had been drinking.

I have always counted on Sonny’s for really good, down to earth BBQ. The new Sonny’s restaurant has been redecorated and was very nice wiih a beautiful ambiance and simple décor. The waiter Ramon was really excellent. I never had such great service at any Soneys before. Ramon provided service as good as the best anywhere. The coleslaw and french fries were excellent as usual. The pulled pork tasted like it was cooked in a regular oven. There wasn’t any smoky flavor. But the sauces are still delicious so overall the meal was very good. A little more smoky flavor in the meat would be appreciated. I’ll still go back because it’s still better than most other places around town.

I am so happy that the lazy girl who would sit in a booth hanging out with friends or family no longer works here. Not only would that blonde girl get your order wrong but she’d never come back. I had to grab the cashier one day to help me. The new staff is so far very nice and efficient. The food is better and now it is clean and pretty inside. Unlike other reviews, I don’t want a dirty restaurant.

Always been a fan of this location, but with the grand reopening in the brand-new Decour it looks even better. Our server was a young black male, and I feel like an asshole for not remembering his name. But he was absolutely excellent. Great service great Decore and great prices. Really enjoyed the reopening.

This place just reopened and thank goodness it did! The food is amazing and unique to the area. There are no other real BBQ restaurants around here. The place is clean, the staff friendly and the menu is pretty varied. I really recommended it for lunch during the work day or dinner with the family.

Sonny’s just reopened under new owners/mangement and a full remodel of the interior building. All the employees are also new too. The remodel looks very polished and eye-catching, but this is exactly why I don’t like it. I like Sonny’s to be more on the roadshack side of the spectrum as far as ambiance goes. It was actually funny seeing seeing a bunch of blue-collar guys with jeans and guy harvey shirts strolling into a trendy restaurant. Along the same lines, I always associated Sonny’s with real southern girl waitresses taking care of me. The old crew had alot of personality that went right along with the food and that added to the experience. Now there are a bunch of polite and proper employees who are very good at what they do, but it just doesn’t feel the same. I’d akin it to when you go to random chinese food place vs. PF Changs. I got the beef brisket big deal combo. The brisket sandwich was layered with sliced meat which I didn’t think looked like alot but stuffed me solid. I didn’t taste much flavor to the meat and even with adding sweet sauce it the taste was mild(good or bad i guess is preference) The baked beans were tasty and the same as before and the sweet tea is just as good. One tip I got is to get them to just give your tea in the styrofoam cup so you can get a refill and bring it home with you.

Tired from work, I stopped to try the newly re-opened BBQ joint. I ordered the BBQ sampler… needles to say as soon as I opened it at home, just by looking at it I knew it was dry & overcooked! I was right on! So much for being too tired to cook… I forced myself to cook & the dog to eat the tasteless BBQ sampler! Huge disappointment. If you know true southern/Texan BBQ, you will not enjoy this place.

I thought we would try Sonny’s because they said the place had been remodeled and others gave it 4 or 5 stars. We could only give it 2! Although the staff was pleasant and attentive, the food lacked a lot to be desired. The salad bar looked like it had been picked over and not attended to for awhile. The menu is typical BBQ fare. I had the 3 pork platter: pieces of pork, shredded pork, and 4 ribs. The pieces were somewhat fatty, the shredded was wet & stringy, and the ribs were not fall of the bone meat. My wife had the St. Louis ribs which were somewhat dry and lacked that true smoked taste. For the same money & time we prefer Lucille’s or Flannigans.

Wow… I can’t believe another Sonny’y BBQ bit the dust… Jupiter…Royal Palm Beach… and now Green Acres… Now there’s no Sonny’s left in south florida… Pulled in today to get a smoked turkey sandwich and BAM… Someone had ripped all the signs down… all locked up… another one closed forever… I must say I was quite devastated… I must now get my BBQ fix from one of the other crappy chains in the area… a sad day indeed… Sonny’s BBQ… I will miss you.

We were surprised that there were only three stars for this place. We traveled 25 minutes to get there, so we were hopeful that it would be as good as the one in Plantation used to be. It was fairly busy for a Sunday night. We were seated immediately, and our server always at our table asking what we wanted to drink before we even sat down. There are 4 flat screen tv’s, although 2 of them were not on. I asked our server Starr about it, and she said they’d had a lightning storm that took those two tv’s out. The décor is nice but showing signs of wear. The restroom was clean, but in need of attention. Full trash cans… I didn’t have the salad bar, but took note of it as I walked by. It was definitely in need of attention, with many items low, and at least one dressing empty. My wife and I each got the brisket platter. The brisket was tasty, with a nice smoky taste. However, while I wouldn’t call it dry, it could have been moister. And while I wouldn’t call it tough, I have had more tender brisket. Between us, we also tried the mac and cheese, the green beans, baked beans, and a baked sweet potato. I liked the green beans and the sweet potato the most. The green beans are cooked with pork fat, so they’re hard not to like. I knew the sweet potato would be good, because as I unwrapped it, my fingers got sticky from the carmelization. And I was right — it was delicious! Overall, unfortunately, it was not as good as I’ve had in the past, and we have decided that it’s not worth the long drive. So we won’t be returning. I really wanted to give it 4 stars, but I can only offer 3, as it was just an «OK» meal.

I grew up in my hometown in GA where Sonny’s is one of the popular BBQ chains so I decided to give this South Florida franchise restaurant a shot. It is true that it gets harder to find a really good BBQ restaurant that has excellent southern cooking(I’m talking about the REAL Southern cooking in terms of Alabama/Georgia/South Carolina/North Florida) the further you go south in Florida. PABBQ is one of the other places that this is similar to. The food here is somewhat lacking because the ribs and sliced pork were fatty and cold. However the white chicken breast and pulled pork were delicious. This particular location really deserves 2 stars, but I am biased when it comes to BBQ sauces and this chain always has the right kind of BBQ sauces compared to a few other local restaurants that just seems off. So they got an extra star for their sauce. We likely won’t return to this Sonny’s… nothing can ever really compare to the other very very popular BBQ joint in Valdosta and Macon, GA called«Smok’n Pig». Excellent on all levels, including the true Brunswick stew. Stop by the Smok’n Pig if you ever drive up on 75 through Georgia. Trust me on this for real southern cooking and real smoked ribs!
