Apparently, now, a US Citizen with a birth certificate, military dependent ID, social security card, signed court document by a federal judge and school ID cant change their name. You have to go to social security first, Wait 4 – 5 hours, BEG the lady to take your documentation, then wait 48hrs for it to get into the computer, then go back to adot, show them everything again before they MAIL your ID in 15 BUSINESS days.
(Hope and pray the mailman actually delivers it to the correct address and no one steals it from your mailbox. Oh and make sure your original birth certificate is NOT from CA or you can count on another 3 – 6 weeks while you are issued a new one if you were born before 9÷11÷2001. Now of course if you are illegal, ignore all of the above, it doesnt apply to you. You will be in and out in no time.
