When it came time to expand our business with a new office build out, it was clear there were a lot of important decisions to make. As a partner of H.J. Martin & Son, we were well aware of their capabilities, their longstanding reputation for quality work, and the family values that drive the business. However, it wasn’t until we actually had the tile installed in our entry way, carpet added throughout the office, and a unique backsplash in our break room that we truly understood the depth and breadth of what makes them far superior to anyone else. The work is impeccable and each individual throughout the process, gracious and friendly — from designers suggesting ideas and helping to bring a personality to the office to installers that were respectful and clear experts in their craft. And on top of the excellent installation, we are also proud owners of a custom made sliding glass barn door that adorns our main conference room. I have and will continue to recommend H.J. Martin & Son to friends, family, and colleagues to deliver on both traditional interior work as well as quirky, one-of-a-kind ideas.

They are a little pricy but was happy with previous purchases. A few months after my basement theater room install we had a water event. I was able to pull out the pad and dry the carpet. I made an appointment to have a new pad and the carpet stretched back over the tack strips and z-strips. I was charged $ 533.05 to have 230 sq ft of pad installed, The pad was less than $ 100.00. Wife«had to pay» with a credit card. She had no ideal what it should have cost… call to my cs rep went unanswered. So I ended up paying $ 400 for just the install. Should have cost half that.

I recently built a home. The entire experience was great — with the exception of the work with HJ Martin. They subbed the job out to external hired guns. The work was done poorly — so poorly, in fact, that the manager acknowledged the job had to be redone — TWICE! All told — HJ Martin did the job 3 times. The 3rd and final time improved the overall impression, but short of pulling the tile and truly starting over, it will never be great. The tile was installed inconsistently, the seams are all over the map and the caulk job was poor. The second visit to correct the initial job had the installers using a stain over the caulk to «paint in» the irregularities and inconsistencies — no joke! 3 bathrooms done poorly. Overall, a truly bad investment. Contact me — I have photos — you can see for yourself before you drop serious money with a company that does not rate quality highly. I asked that consideration be given to the final bill as we suffered such an inconvenience — and the mess of 3 tile jobs! This was denied. Again — have plenty of photos — happy to share.
