I had lunch here and ordered the turkey pita. Steak fries were typical but the wait was a bit much for what we ordered along with the amount of people in the restaurant before us waiting for food. I ended up eating my pita with a fork and knife since it was not able to close it and eat it as intended, but the taste was great. The rating is more on service/wait and price not taste. The food tasted great but it isn’t a place for a quick and cheap lunch.

Dining room was’t busy or full, but it took more than 1.5 hrs. to receive food. Purposely went to this restaurant for a relaxing and impressive experience. Really fell short. Not worth the money or effort.

I’ve eaten at B/T when it was in Depere and again in GB the service was fine but I think the waitress was embarrassed by the size of the entre’ as compared to the cost. I wasn’t impressed with any part of my meal in either locale, I have no need to go back.

We tried this place for our special fine dining meal while on a weekend visit to Green Bay. The atmosphere is nice, good location and the hostess was very welcoming and friendly. Menu was small, which is not uncommon at nicer places, 3 beef selections, 2 seafood, 1 each pork, chicken, duck and lamb — pretty usual proteins. None of the combinations really appealed to me, HIGHLY unexpected as I am not a picky eater at all. Many plates listed spicy ingredients, so that ruled them out for me. 2 of our party had steaks, one had scallops. For the prices, I was bummed to get boring old mashed potatoes or rice pilaf for starch choices! One steak was overcooked — sad for a place known for their steaks. Excellent baked french onion soup and lobster bisque, nice salad before meals came. Servings were large. Could not detect any garlic in the garlic mashed potatoes but the onion straws were amazing! Very small dessert menu, weak coffee. Server was friendly but not overly attentive. Overall, I would say it was perfectly fine but not a place we will return to anytime soon.

Great service will sell any business and this place has it! The service here it top notch, this is the first time for me in Packer country and what an exceptional experience this was. Food was tasty and they allowed me to mix up the menu to my liking… That’s always a plus! But the real experience here was the great waitress who attended to me she was just great with a fantastic personality.

Service was great and the food was very good… We had a $ 35.00 of coupon which made it more affordable… check for coupons I think they are out there…

Delicious. The tapas downstairs are wonderful and the bartenders, especially Jay, are fabulous. I love going to this place and highly recommend it.

Was recently there for GB Restaurant Week — so it was hugely busy. Yet our server could not have been better, and the food was amazing. The seared ahi tuna appetizer should not be missed, it’s delectable. If you are looking for a delicious meal with great service and a relaxing atmosphere, this is it.

Great place. The service was spectacular the food was for the most part impeccable. I think that the décor needs quite a bit of updating. It really does not fit the menu. But I had the duck. A perfect medium with a goose liver mousse on the side. I did not care for the roasted turnip garnish. Lobster bisque was the best that i have ever had. The waitress was so incredibly polished but very at ease. Great experience and great food.

Made reservations at Black and Tan for my girlfriends birthday, we were sat on time and greeted immediately! The menu has something for everyone and 3 of us chose the ribeye, the steaks tasted fantastic but were not tender and two of them were over cooked! The server was super attentive and really did make it special by not only offering the birthday girl dessert but by bringing another for the table to share! There was no need to make a reservation because the restaurant was virtually empty from 7 to 9 when we left. Wouldn’t go back simply because of the quality of the steak for the price.

New Years Eve Epic Fail. We hadn’t been to the Black and Tan since they were in De Pere. It’s not worth an evening out. First The waiter brought out a more expensive bottle of wine than we ordered. Three of four in our party ordered the signature steak but with different levels of doneness. When the steaks came out they were all medium rare so two of us sent them back. When they came back out they were both medium so one had to go back as it was supposed to be medium well. Thirty minutes later a little charred briquette came out for my friend and she finally gave up trying to get a steak medium well. If you can’t cook a steak as it’s ordered then steak should not be your signature dish. The final blow was a piece of plastic in my husband’s cheesecake. They did comp the desserts and offered free drink tickets but when you are dropping three bills on dinner it’s hardly incentive to try again.

Another seriously over rated $ 30 – 40 entrée Green Bay restaurant. If I went to an equivalent restaurant in DC, service would be quicker and the food would be extravagant. Here, I ordered a side salad with my Black & Tan beef tenderloin. The salad was nothing more than lettuce leaves… that’s it. The bread service looked fancy but the bread was not very good. The tenderloin saved the meal… it was cooked to perfection and tasted very good! Strange thing is that they served the mashed potatoes on a side plate. Probably would not return at these prices for the value of service.

My favorite in Green Bay. Yes, Hinterland and Republic Chop House are very good too. I still would put B & T just a small step ahead. Only because I have never had a bad meal or sub par service when I have eaten there. I love their Salmon and have drooled over the Black & Tan. Literally melts in your mouth!

I love love love this place. A nice restaurant that has veered away from the«supper club» vibe that Green Bay is sadly known for! This restaurant knows how to make their patrons feel special. I am quite rehearsed at restaurant food, and how a menu should be. The change of the menu is great. The«locals» here love the prime rib(which I love too), so to respect the locals, they keep that. I agree with that move. But each season, or around that schedule, they change their menu, which is a delight. Thank you for bringing/keeping such a pleasant surprise to Green Bay.

The service was great for the first part of our meal. The bread was tasty. We didn’t order an appetizer. When our food finally came, the waitress asked if my husband wanted another beer, and he replied that he did. We were almost done with our entrée, and he still didn’t have his beer, so we had to get the attention of another waiter to cancel the beer.(She ended up charging us for the third beer, so we had to wait 10 minutes to get that corrected =/) The entrée was very salty. I had the chicken, and my husband had the pork. He brought the little bit he didn’t eat home, and my son had a bite, and agreed that it was salty as well. The ambiance was very welcoming. It’s set in an historic building. I just wish the quality and the price of food went together, because I don’t mind paying for dinner, but at least have the service and the food reflect the price. Black and Tan did not do that. We’d not visited the Black and Tan since they were in De Pere, but we figured we’d try it again. We won’t be back.

I’ve only been here once for dinner and I rather enjoyed the experience. My appetizer was delicious and the Black & Tan entrée was wonderfully grilled. I recommend getting it with the mushrooms. It was busy due to it being a Saturday night and the Meyer Theatre right up the street had a show. The dining area didn’t seem loud…

Green Bay has a a good one in Black and Tan. I’m not sure why they named this restaurant Black and Tan. Why not Green and Gold? Anyway, I had dinner at this place with a bunch of friends. We had a spacious private room on the second floor. It could have held probably 50. Unlike my previous horrible dining experience at Curly’s the night before, I had high hopes for this place. And my hopes were not deflated. The service was fantastic. Timely delivery of drinks and food throughout the meal along with a server with a lot of personality added to the evening. We spent about $ 100 per person and it was money well spent. I had seared salmon with candied lavender pear chutney over smashed butternut squash completed with cracked pepper. The carrot cake for dessert was full of flavor and perfect for this time of year. Overall, with no strikes I plan on returning again the next time in town.

I ate here to nights in a row. The service is great. The appetizers were good both nights. It was very dark, but quiet to talk at the table. The first night I had the rib-eye steak and it was very good, the second night I had the scallops with bacon and the side was tortellini. The scallops tasted burnt from the bacon and the tortellini was very dry. This dish may be a favorite for others but I will never order it again. I would go back as the building have lots of history and it was a very nice bar. The staff is very on top of your table and you never go with out.
