River Bend Golf & Country Club

Beautiful golf course. Very nice pool facilities. They’ve done a good job of marrying the classic country club ambiance with a family friendly events schedule. Great experience all around.

Great food, elegant décor, beautiful views, excellent service. The golf course is among the best in mid-​Atlantic and well maintained.

We were here for a dinner reception, so I can’t comment on the golf course, tennis court, etc. However, our experience probably approximated a wedding’s dinner reception.
The reception hall we were in was smaller, but still fit about 110 people. It also had an attached outdoor patio with a beautiful view of the golf course (and equipped with fans for heat and roll-​down plastic for rain). We used this area for the cocktail hour, and it was picture perfect.
The meal itself was pretty good. We had a standard salad, but the steak and chicken were surprisingly moist. When cooking that many meals, you expect your steak to be overdone and your chicken to be dried out. But the steak was actually medium! The dessert was mediocre — it tasted and looked like the chocolate cake they have at Costco. But to me, it’s more important to have good meat.
The one slight I would have is that this place is literally in the middle of nowhere. I don’t think we could have been any closer to the Maryland border without being in Maryland, and we were driving so long that I would’ve thought we were in Leesburg.

One of the top golf courses in the DC area. A hidden gem among the elite country clubs. I have been invited as a guest a handful of times and enjoy the atmosphere and golf course every time. John Edwards the assistant Pro does an incredible job of making you feel at home.
