I have nothing but good things to say about this restaurant. Easily the best Chinese food in the Berkshires. The service is excellent, and the wait staff is very attentive. You’ll never need to call the waiter over to refill your water, and the complementary tea is an extremely nice touch. The prices are extremely reasonable for the quality of the food and the service. Worth the 1 Hour drive from West Springfield!

Delicious food and excellent service! Had the crab wontons, sesame chicken and rice noodles with chicken and shrimp. Sesame chicken was one of the best I have ever had and I appreciate they had brown rice. Good cocktails and nice décor. All around a nice little gem in the middle of nowhere. Glad Unilocal pointed us here.

Great Chinese restaurant in town. They don’t really have anything different than most Chinese places, but the quality does seem better to me then most. Whether you go to the restaurant to eat or get takeout, I have had many great meals here. The restaurant is big, very clean, and the service is extremely fast. If you are in the area looking for Chinese food that is good and reasonably priced, I would recommend stopping in.

This Chinese restaurant had a wonderful atmosphere. The wait staff was helpful, and if there was ever any small pieces of paper on the side from the sugar packets or napkin paper, they would pick it up within minutes. Although the food is a little pricy, the price really comes from quality, quantity, and environment.

We have been to Koi many times and have never had a bad meal or bad service. When we have guests visiting we know we can take them to Koi and have a wonderful experience. It is tastefully decorated and the food is the highest quality. We always enjoy having a water carafe(and having it constantly refilled). We more recently found out that they have a small but nice dessert menu. I suspect none of the desserts are made in house but they are nice choices and end a meal at Koi very nicely. We almost always get the Sesame Chicken as it is a great dish. We appreciate that the portions are not large and full of filler ingredients. Each dish is distinctive and has great flavor. The restaurant is run so efficiently but we never feel rushed and always look forward to our next visit to Koi.

Live in NYC and like to believe that I’m a pretty fair judge of Chinese at this point. Stumbled upon Koi and left totally happy. Great room with a traditional Chinese-American menu that aims to please. Nothing particularly unusual or inventive but not too greasy, the veggies tasted like veggies and they had perhaps the best boneless ribs I’ve come across(my two picky sons definitely agree). Worth seeking out if in the area and feeling the itch.

I am torn-first time here was better than tonight. The first time we had moo shu chix, which was delicious. Love the shrimp dumplings and would get those again. My partner ordered seafood(shrimp, lobster & roe) fried rice tonight, and it had no flavor or salt. It also was only half of a lobster tail, which for 20 $ seems ridiculous. I got dragon & Phoenix the first time-liked the shrimp a lot and General tso’s was ok. Got Tangerine chix tonight, which was also just ok. My main issue is the service. First visit our waiter was pleasant and friendly — definitely NOT the case tonight. Overpriced for sure — typical for GB unfortunately.

Last time I came over a year ago the seafood fried rice was so good I couldn’t stop eating it. After driving an hour specifically to come back I tried the seafood fried rice again. It was tasteless, no flavor or salt at all. The seafood was cold. The meal came out in 15 minutes after our arrival like a fast food take out Chinese place. That leads me to believe it was just reheated I sadly will not be back.

What a great find! Have been here several times for dinner and take out and it has been a great experience every time. The whole fish is very well prepared, crispy yet moist with a fantastic sauce. The orange chicken is the best I have had anywhere. Great noodle dishes and summer rolls as well. Fast friendly service and impeccably clean.

Native New Yorker here. Best Chinese in town. On par with any I’ve had elsewhere. You have to drive a long while to find better.

Are you kidding me, Koi, are you really kidding me??? My recent lunch wasn’t FOOD, it was some sort of reheated, corn-starch laden, glutinous mess. Untasty, unsightly, damn near inedible. With chemical-tasting sauces — electric red is not a natural color — better suited for a chem lab than a dining room. This place is an insult to Chinese food. Hell, it’s an insult to China. Our table suffered through four soups, four lunches, horribly greasy chips and inedible sauces. Nothing worth eating. There’s a reason the place is empty. Join the throngs who are wise enough to stay away.

While the ambience was comfortable 60s kitch, the food suffered terribly. There was no redeeming value here. We ordered three appetizers(fried wontons, BBQ boneless ribs and lettuce wraps) a whole steamed bass and General aysos Chicken. The ribs. Were like beef Jerky, the wraps were dry and tasteless and the wontons below average, fried in what must have been old oil. The steamed fish arrived dry and overdone and the General Tsos was so over drenched in MSG, my eyes began to hurt. Seriously this was one of the worst meals I have had in the Berkshires. No, make that in America. To top it off, no apologies. We sent nothing back but let them know the problems. Total tab(no drinks) came to $ 92. All in all a dismal experience we could only laugh over on our way home with a stop over at a gas station for a refreshing iced coffee to wash away he lingering taste.

We came here after visiting the neighboring Norman Rockwell museum. The space is beautiful & the food was very delicious and came out in record time. I’d say this is a solid choice if you’re in the area & it’s fantastic for large groups and celebrations.

Overpriced, unfriendly waitstaff. Food was good quality although paltry portions relative to cost. $ 19 dish was small /blander than typical Chinese food Nice atmosphere and décor. For upstate small town, my review should be taken with a grain of salt(or MSG).

Fine place — nothing crazy or exceptional. Admittedly, when in the Berkshires, I usually try to avoid Koi, but somehow always get dragged here by family who have higher regard for this place than I do. This is just a theory, but I think their appreciation of this lackluster Chinese restaurant has something to do with the beamingly radiant, always-untroubled older Chinese host. That man is great. If I could rate him on Unilocal,he’d get an easy, no-hesitation five stars. His complaisance is astounding and commendable. I always make sure to ask him to get my family seated in one of the more open areas with a clear view of the restaurant’s entrance. That way, when I’m eating the mediocre, uninspired food, I can always look in that direction to see the older Chinese man’s jubilant smile as he greets fellow patrons. That dude and his joviality get me through every meal.

I am from NYC, but my girlfriend’s family lives in the Berkshires. We try to always make it a point to get to Koi whenever we are visiting. This place is seriously good. I’ve eaten all over Chinatown, and some of the dishes here rival anything you can get in the city. Plus, the décor is awesome — kind of hard to describe, but it’s interesting and cool, especially for the area! Specifically, I would recommend to anyone the Sichuan dumpling appetizer — they are a must get. I wake up thinking about them. I wish I weren’t in Brooklyn now, so I could get them tonight! For entrees, the chicken and broccoli and the general tso’s are both best in category. Beyond those standard options, I love love love the seafood fried rice. The flavor is incredible, and the seafood portion is super generous. Don’t know how they make any money on that dish, but hey. I try to experiment with the menu too(last time I went I got the duck special — not sure what it was called but it was superb), but the above are my sure-fire faves. And if you feel like letting loose a little, the Mai Tai’s are killer too!

Chinese food of the American variety is often maligned. Let’s think about why: Overly salty, mushy and served in mass quantities that provoke dreaded soy bloat. Typically, this is served in a ‘joint’ that has given second or third thought to décor. This can all be true, but at Koi, it’s smaller portions, simpler meals and better surroundings. So, when the hankering hits for some double, triple, or house delight, Koi has proven to be our better choice.
