Worst experience ever, they just are interested in your money. There is no fish in the lake, they would not cancel the trip even if there is a weather warning. Least concerned about your safety. I would never recommend these people as you might not even get to know what ice fishing is like in reality.

First time ice fishing. Generally don’t like fishing, but ice fishing sounded interesting. Saw a deal and decided to give this new experience a try with my bf. Plus we never been out to the Berkshires, so this was a good opportunity. Well, it turned out great! It was very exciting to be catching fish during the winter time on top of a frozen lake. No one was catching anything the first hour so Mike and Nolan drilled everyone new holes on a new spot to fish since all the tip ups over there was flagging but no fish(which means probably lots of small fish like yellow perches are lurking around). Immediately after we moved, everyone started catching fish. They are definitely there hoping that everyone will catch something and have a good time. And nothing taste so good than the one you got yourself in the freezing cold. We only caught 2 pickerals and a yellow perch but we were more than happy.(we heard the group yesterday caught nothing ?? :/) Def more willing to try ice fishing again than regular fishing. They lost a star bcs they sent the wrong lake info a week prior and got my hopes all up for possible salmon catch. Give it a try! Tip: Wear lots of socks if you don’t got insulated boots. I wore thick fleece socks thinking I should be ok. but I was worried about frostbite after an hour so I went into the tent’s heater to warm up my feet. And a girl had toe warmers and she said her feet were still very cold very quick.

My wife and I decided to try ice fishing with Charter the Berkshires, it we’re bot very glad we did! It was a super fun day and we both learned a lot. You can think of this as an educational trip if you like. Learning about where each kind of fish was, its habitat, and the state and health of the lake appealed to us both. We paid some extra amount to have our fish filleted back at the bait shop/farm stand and it was worth it. Paul’s dad did the knife work and it was amazing to watch. The whole family is so very nice. This was a great experience for us both. When I was a kid my dad and out family used to go fishing in Maine. We caught many dinners of fish back in the 1970s. My did is a lot older now, unable to do this sort of thing so, being able to share a meal with him of very fresh and delicious fish from a clean cold water lake was a special treat. My sincere thanks.

I went ice fishing yesterday with 2 guides(John & Nolan) who were GREAT at teaching us how to fish, where to fish, and everything in between! Clearly a huge amount of experience was seen in both of them. Everyone in the group caught at least one fish, but I caught probably close to 10! It was my first fishing trip ever(not just first ice fishing — first fishing period!) and I definitely surprised myself with how many I caught! The guides were awesome at helping me bait the hook, get my line untangled, and get the fish off the hook. Also was terrified to hold a fish, so they assisted with that as well as getting some pictures for me. We bought the filleting package, so our fish were all filleted for us afterwards. Can’t wait to taste what they were saying are the best tasting fish! Always makes it better to know that they’re the freshest fish I’ll ever eat! Would HIGHLY recommend Paul & the guys working for him. Had a fantastic time out on Lake Buel and am hoping to book again next year! Thanks for an awesome trip!

My family and I(wife and 7 year old twins) fished with Paul on Sunday, January 19, 2014. We had a FANTASTIC day. We landed 3 nice largemouth bass of 2 — 2 ½ pounds each, 6 nice pickerel and a bunch of yellow perch and bluegills. Paul was great with the kids and made sure they were having fun and learning something new. He runs a truly first class operation and has won us as annual — at least — customers for life.

Yesterday I went on my second ice fishing excursion with Paul, and was once again impressed with the experience! I’d never been ice fishing before my father & I went last winter(as part of a voucher deal), and had a great time chasing flags all day(followed by a freshly caught lunch at his family’s farm stand). This year, I hired him for a day of fishing and brought along two more novice ice fishers(as well as my dad) — everyone had a blast. He knows where to fish, what you’re likely to catch, and will fill you in all day long about the sport. We caught more than I ever imagined, and I think he’s got two more people in love with ice fishing. If you’re at all curious about ice fishing, I highly recommend fishing with Paul. You’ll learn a ton, have a great day, and I can’t imagine not wanting to return for more.

For anyone who is looking to try something new, or a season pro, Paul has a great setup. He is a great teacher, has great equipment, and great locations. He also shows you how to fish respectfully and smart. My wife had never been fishing or ice fishing, and we took a drive out from Boston. She had a blast and we would definitely recommend this to our friends and even thought about doing it again with a family group. We had a great experience. Everyone on the ice caught at least 7 or 8 fish each(pike, pickerel, trout, bass, blue gill, etc) but we only caught 1 each. We laughed, and would still go back. Easy 5 stars!

I first met Paul on January 30th2010. My now fiancée had booked an ice fishing trip for me as a birthday present. As an avid fisherman I was eager to learn how to ice fish so I could finally be on the(hard) water all four season. My buddies and I got up nice and early and arrived at Lake Garfield in Monterey for the most productive day of freshwater fishing we’ve ever had! Paul was an amazing guide and instructor. We told him our goal was to learn so we could do it ourselves for the rest of the season and he was more than happy to teach. Within a week after that trip my buddy and I had a new ice auger, 10 tip ups, two jigging rods and a new appreciation for wax worms. I couldn’t recommend Paul enough. Great guy with a skill and passion for all types of fishing. He’s even got the coolest Team Captain’s jacket for the Team Massachusetts B.A.S.S. Bass Club World Championship. So jealous.
