The Range

I love The Range. The gentlemen at the counter are knowledgeable and efficient. They answered all my questions with out coming off as superior. As a female I always cringe going into a gun shop, you never know if you will be treated with respect or looked down upon. And after visiting The Range, I will never go any where else. I tell all my friends how great they are, and I can’t wait to bring my extended family up for a shooting day!

Awesome people very helpful and knowledgeable!!! Definitely a good place to but weapons and ammo. I would recomend everyone to go there for gun and ammo needs :)

The Range is an excellent store and shooting range.
My wife and I went there for a private instruction with Chris. My wife never fired a gun before but within one hour was hitting nothing but 10s. The price is very convenient — we paid barely $ 120 for almost two hours of private instruction, renting two guns (a .38 Smith and Wesson and a Sig-​Sauer P226), the lane, the ammunition. I doubt you’d find anyone to match that price in the area.
We came back for more after and have also purchased a handgun from The Range.
The prices are good, the range itself is comfortable to use, they put a lot of emphasis on safety, which is always good when you’re talking about guns.

Yes, I’m a fan of The Range in Grass Valley. I’ve been shooting here since 1996.
Pros:
1) The indoor handgun range is well ventilated and always kept at a comfortable temperature which is a fact that not all indoor ranges can claim.
2) The staff is very nice and helpful.
3) There’s a great selection of rental fire arms for a reasonable price. For quality control reasons the will require you to buy new ammo to shoot in the rental.
4) They have a nice rifle range.
5) Good selection of ammo and gun cleaning supplies.
6) Nice selection of classes (hunting, training, CCW, etc) at reasonable costs
Cons:
1) Some of the target rail systems, which are the devices that control the electric motors that move the targets to and from the shooting booths, are in dire need of repair — they still work but not reliably.
2) Firearms are a bit on the pricey side — but not unreasonable.
3) No crowd control during the Father’s Days sale. See UPD16JUN2013 below.
4) League shooting requires you to buy ammo from their store. They claim this is to reduce lead exposure, but then why isn’t this policy enforced during normal shooting hours? And, hey c’mon, this place has such a powerful ventilation system that I don’t buy that as a valid reason.
UPD16JUN2013. As you can see I give The Range ⁴⁄₅ stars and I like The Range and the staff — a lot! That being said, over the years I’ve been to many of The Range’s Father’s Day Sales. But never again. The prices are not low enough to justify dealing with the crowds, and the used range guns are not cleaned prior to display which makes it hard or impossible to determine their condition. The crowds, both inside and outside the store, are INSANE! This is because MiWall ammunition (they make reloads) are in the same complex and they have their open to the public sale on Father’s Day, too. While you can usually get into The Range (it’ll be packed) you’re looking at a 4 hour wait to get in to the MiWall warehouse and, buddy, the prices are NOT worth the wait — especially on a hot day! And, be prepared to park a long long ways away…

Well organized and awesome staff. Myself and two friends went to the Girls, Giggles and Guns class here and we had a great time and learned a ton. I highly recommend the class and the range.

It is a little out of the way, however most gun ranges are! The only indoor range that I know of in the surrounding counties. The guys who run the shop are pretty friendly, were able to get us shooting quickly (3 of us). The range fees are not that expensive, considering it is indoor ($ 10 an hour). Good selection of guns to rent for an additional charge. Lots of other shooting and hunting supplies as well. It was less than $ 50 to rent a 9 mm Glock, shoot for 1 hour and use 2 cases of ammo and targets.
