Taste of Thai is authentic Thai food in the sense that if you went to Thailand and ordered at a street food café, you would probably get authentically bad service as well. Taste of Thai, pull your head out of the Curry! This review is strictly based on the terrible service one needs to go through to get decent Thai food. Maybe the people that have been waiting for 15 minutes want some water or to be acknowledged. Maybe those people don’t want water poured all over their table because the waitress couldn’t actually stop for a second and focus before spilling like a blind person. Maybe these same people don’t want to watch you check you cell phone the entire time we were at the restaurant. Dear Wait Staff of Taste of Thai, You shouldn’t be on your cell phones in front of of customers that are waiting to be served. Why are you checking your cell phones during a busy lunch hour? Are you twittering? Maybe your twittering that you are a terrible waiter and waitress! That would be the truth!

Definitely my favorite Thai place in town! Their potstickers are to die for, and their pad kee mow with beef is out of this world! The people who work there are amazingly sweet and personable, always make you feel at home! I have never gotten something that I didn’t like!

I tried this restaurant 3 times hoping each time that I was being too critical or that I was some how not«getting» what others were raving about. My mother is Thai, I grew up on Thai food, and I also managed a Thai restaurant in Auburn CA for 3 years so I have a little experience in Thai flavor. I specifically asked my server for less sugar, and she immediately almost rudely, said, «We don’t use sugar.» My chicken drunken noodles tasted like they were drenched with syrup. If I wasn’t on a business luncheon I would have sent it back immediately. I ate as much as I could to avoid being rude and boxed the rest up. I had to add half their container of fish sauce(salt flavor) to make it even close to palatable. The other two people in my party who ordered the same dish said the food was too sweet and one did not eat more than two bites of her dish. The first time I went there with my mother I had the basil chicken lunch special. It wasn’t necessarily bad, but it wasn’t that great either. I’m not a fan. I prefer my Thai food to be fresh and delicious, and well balanced with flavor.

Wonderful food and pleasant staff. Had the basil fried rice and Phad Thai. We typically eat Thai food once or twice per week and are looking forward to trying everything on the menu. The flavoring was delicious and unique to our experience.

We ate here 3 or 4 years ago and remembered it was pretty good. We went to the mountains for the weekend and wanted to go back for Thai food. We weren’t disappointed either. We started with the Spring Rolls and they are some of the best we have ever had. They came with both sweet chile sauce and peanut sauce. The we had the Pad Thai and the Thai Fried Rice with pork. They were very good, but on the small side for the price. Nice to see the condiment assortment included chopped chiles in fish sauce. This should be a standard in all Thai restaurants. Are you listening Thai Chile in Elk Grove?

The previous reviews must be planted, because no one who has ever been to Thailand, cooked Thai food, or even read a recipe, would think this is more than a 1 star tourist trap. The potstickers were gummy and tasteless. The pad Thai was a color I have never seen — red – and still tasteless. Obviously, it was not cooked to order with a delicate balance of flavors, but slopped together with precooked ingredients and chili sauce dumped over it. In addition, the service matched the food. Save your money and try the other Thai place in town, just a couple of blocks off of Main Street.

Great food, friendly staff. The evil jungle prince was very good. Phone etiquette and ordering process could use improvement.

Great food, decent service OVERPRICEDBEER. Had lunch here today, and to help others, I’m rating based on food quality and food price, as opposed to the hostesses crappy attitude. The Panang Salmon was excellent, as was the Tom Kha Ga soup, I would recommend both. The Pad See Ew was also okay, but nothing special. It’s what I’d order for my Grandmother or someone with sensitive digestion, as it’s not spicy at all(which is normal for this dish). However, compared to the other food, it was a bit of a let down. The thing that made me shake my head was the fact that the 21oz Singha was not listed on the menu, but I figured if the 12oz was $ 4.50, the 21oz wouldn’t be more than $ 7. Instead, it was $ 9! So basically, it’s more expensive to buy a big beer than two small beers. It may seem petty, but only an idiot or an alcoholic would pay $ 9 for a Singha. When I casually mentioned this to the hostess, she got a pissy look on her face like I asked her to give it to me for free! All I wanted was a simple«You’re right, that doesn’t make sense. I’ll let my manager know.» and an understanding smile. I would have given an extra couple of bucks to the waiter had he been savvy enough to mention this to me. It’s not about the money, I make plenty, and tip up to 50% depending on the atmosphere the wait-staff creates. Instead, she was uptight and defensive, and I heard four people tapping away on a calculator after I walked away and joking(probably at my expense) in Thai. I’ll go back when I feel like Thai food again, maybe, but I won’t be foolish enough to order beer here again. This review is really for the staff and owner. A smile and some courtesy go a long way. To my waiter, you did an adequate job, but because of your hostess, I didn’t feel like leaving more than 10%. You can thank her for costing you the price of my beer.

I had a yellow curry that was adequately spiced. I would have enjoyed more if a variety of vegetables amongst the meat. My husband made a special request to make his dish Thai Spice. But in the end my dish was spicer than his dish.

I was so surprised to find Thai food that I really loved in such a small town! This was a delicious lunch. I got one of their green curries, and really loved it. Also tried one of their stir fry dishes and it was really good. Awesome flavors overall — I was impressed!

Great Thai food. The Tom Ka soup is to die for. The servers are all really nice and it is conveniently located in the GV Downtown area. They have a bunch of veggie options and serve brown rice for the health nuts like myself.

We were visiting from out of town and wanted some Thai food, so we stopped in at this place… twice in the span of three days! The food was absolutely delicious! I judge every Thai place by their fishcakes and this one definitely passed my bar. We also ordered the Thai green curry, which had great flavor. Two days after, we decided to return with another friend. We ordered the Pad See Ew, a chicken/veggie stirfry dish and Tom Yum soup. They mistakenly served us the Tom Kha soup but was very apologetic and replaced it with the correct order right away. I will definitely be back!

I have lived in grass Valley for 10 years tried every restaurant, and Taste of Thai is my favorite. I have to eat here at least once a week. The staff is friendly and helpful. Parking in back is not a problem even if Main Street is crowded.

Not bad. POSITIVES: GOOD Tom Yum soup. Very tasty and no5 too spicy. Average amount of veggies and chicken. Som Tum was plentiful. I like that they gave us lettuce in place of the cabbage wedge. There was a lot of tasty papaya in it. And the venue was cozy. NEGATIVES: Service could have been better. We received our order but thw waitress didn’t follow up to see if everything was OK. We had to flag her down. Then she didn’t bring our check and we had to chase it down again. It was a sleepy post-lunch time crowd and maybe they were exhausted.

There are two servers here that I have seen. May Baby Jesus save you if you get the mean one… I was baptized so maybe that’s why I survived. When I asked Queen LaSurly what was good on the menu, she looked at me with a blank stare and pointed to my menu. She said«Everything in on there» and then walked away. The food was good but nothing extraordinary.
