Right off the highway but still a hidden gem. VERY clean which helps the rating very much! Great food and a polite and attentive waitress also helped this rating be 5 stars. Variety of daily specials. Different beers on tap along with other drinks and drink specials. The other tables nearby had pizza that looked delicious so we will try that next time but this time I enjoyed a chicken sandwich while my husband enjoyed the steak special. The steak was cooked perfectly and flavored very well. The kids meal was typical and my little one enjoyed it. Dessert was great too. A brownie sundae served in a large martini-style glass and the apple cobbler were yummy! Give this place a try. We plan to return.

Nice! Great little local place. American café. Owners rebuilt and the tiling, flooring, workmanship gives it a warm, quality feel

Clear Lake Grill is a small, newer place just off I94 on the Clear Lake Road exit. I’ve heard many good things so I finally got a chance to try it as I was out that way at dinnertime. It was 6 o’clock when I arrived. There are about 15 tables and booths & the place was full up so I waited. I was first there waiting & a couple came in after me & were seated at a booth before I was. That kind of bothered me just a little. Eventually, I was seated. My waitress was very nice & friendly. She took my order & was very busy. I waited 30 minutes for my food.(not the waitresses fault) The food was delicious but the sides were kind of small. The place is very clean and nice and nicely decorated. I serve alcohol & Pepsi products. I believe the place is understaffed. I only saw 2 waitresses & no bussers. Everyone else around me was getting their food late too. I think they need to hire more people. If the food arrived faster I’d easily give this place 5 stars.

Unfortunately we had a poor experience at Clear Lake Grill last night. We were looking for a place to have dinner with or son, daughter in law and grand sons. Clear Lake Grill is about halfway for us. So it sounded like just the right place. The atmosphere is great and very family friendly. After an hour wait for our food we noticed people that came in after we had were finishing their meals and leaving.(When a 12 year old and 8 year old notice how long a wait is it’s a long wait.) We didn’t have any special order just sandwiches, fries and 1 order of Mac and cheese. When the order did come out the results were not great. My wife and I ordered sandwiches they were just ok. our son ordered a Turkey Ruben came out as just a Turkey sandwich no slaw or dressing. The real kicker was when the Mac and cheese took another 10 minutes after the rest of the food came out. It was just box Mac and cheese and that’s fine he didn’t care he has it all the time but after an hour wait for our food it should have all come out at one time. No one was impressed and we are still looking for a good place to have dinner.

Stopped in after a hike and some Sandhill Crane watching to grab a quick bite. The atmosphere is perfect. I’ve noticed many local restaurants are annoyingly kitschy, with screen printed signs on the wall that list generic family rules or Audrey Hepburn quotes that were purchased at the local Target. This place does not have any of that stuff. THANKYOU. They have some cool vintage photos of Waterloo Rec Area and the surrounding farms, and it’s very clean and well maintained inside. They have draft beer list, but it’s limited to mostly large-batch brews. I had a Sam Adams Octoberfest — I think they had Bud, Miller Lite and Blue Moon as well. I ordered a large pizza so I could take some home, and it was pretty good! Pizza in rural Michigan is almost always good, and this was no exception. My wife had a salad, which was pretty good as well. The service was fine, but a bit slow and we had to reminder her on a couple of requests, but no major problem. Nice prices, nice atmosphere, good food.

Stopped here for the first time. Very nice place to stop for lunch. We were returning from Indiana and needed a place for lunch so we saw it on Google maps. Very happy we stopped. I had the the club sandwich and my wife had the burger. We had the homemade chips with our order and could not have been more pleased. The staff was very friendly. The apple cobbler was great too. Would definitely stop there again.

I really wanted to love this place as it’s so close to my house. The salad came out looking terrific, however the dressings are absolute crap. I tried 3 different dressings and they are all that Sysco or Gordon Food Service has to offer. Would love to see some home made dressings. The burger was mediocre. They were unfortunately out of the Gluten Free Pizza crusts. The Pizza looks good, and I’ll give the place another try to see if that’s worth coming here. The service was also very slow and clearly disorganized. More experienced waitstaff would also be helpful.

This is one of our favorite places to eat! Their gluten free pizza is the best I’ve ever had. The homemade dressing for the Maurice salad is to die for. My family loves the burgers and onion rings!!! It’s worth the drive!

I’ve been here quite a few times now, and I can say it is one of my favorite restaurants. Love the atmosphere, reminds me of a restaurant you may see in the Upper Peninsula. The staff are very well trained and friendly. As for the food, I always order the half pound burger with fries, and I love it, however a couple times the burger has been somewhat burned. Next time I go I will most likely try something different, maybe the pizza or a wrap, just to see how much more I like it. Plus, the ice cream window! What a brilliant idea! Campers from the surrounding lakes won’t have to drive into Chelsea or Grass Lake for a tasty treat in the summer anymore! Overall, it’s a great place and I encourage everybody to eat at the Clear Lake Grill on one of these beautiful Summer evenings.

We went on a Friday night and had excellent service. We waited for only a few minutes for a table to open up as the place was packed. The food was brought quickly. I had a fantastic prime rib sandwich with house made chips and coleslaw. There was no fat in the meat and the favor was fantastic especially with the grilled onions. I did have to ask for horseradish and she brought horseradish sauce where I would have preferred just the horseradish and it really made the sammy. The chips were crunchy, just the way I like them, and the slaw wasn’t the best, but worked with the plate. The hubby had the Maurice salad and said the dressing was as good as he remembered it at Hudson’s. The prices are perfectly priced for the area. The place is spotless and well decorated. We will definitely go back.

Th Grill has only been open a couple weeks, so they are still working some kinks out and training the new staff. However, everyone is home town friendly, the food is tasty, and the atmosphere is warm and inviting with the right amount of kitch. I’ve eaten there twice now. Had the 1⁄3 lb cheeseburger and fries the first day. Very good flavor although I would probably ask for the onion roll bun next time; the standard bun is a little lacking. The fries are rockin’! The second visit I had the grill club special and their homemade chips: Sooooo good! Would get again. I liked the fries better than the chips, but they were still delicious. Other members of my party loved the chips as well. Highly recommend this off the beaten path grill.
