So, you have to be a fan of dive bars to truly enjoy this place. Happily, I am a fan of dive bars! A group of six of us dropped in after suffering a crazy bout of cabin fever thanks to New England’s latest snowfall. We had to get out. Very little was open, but Happy Daze came to the rescue! It opens up at 11:00AM, which is perfect, as that’s just about the time we decided to show up. Happy Daze is owned by a husband and wife(Shelly) who also tend bar/make food/teach people how to play Keno. I, as DD, ordered diet pepsi while my compatriots went with beers. However, being sober didn’t affect the amount of fun I had while here! Shelly and her husband taught me how to play Keno(damn, it’s addictive). I bet $ 21.00 and won $ 20.00…I’ll take it. Only a dollar in the hole. Beers are $ 2.75(awesome!) and mixed drinks are around $ 8.00(standard). They have a small kitchen and can make some basic bar snacks(mostly stuff like chicken fingers… fried stuff). There are four dart board machines(the kind that count your points for you). They also recently expanded into what used to be a florist next door and set up five pool tables. I believe they run tournaments for both darts and for pool — if you are often in the area! We had great fun — appreciated the hole-in-the-wall town pub vibe — got down with some locals and really enjoyed ourselves(I mean, we were there for about six hours… so they were doing something right)! Again, if you don’t like an awesome dive… don’t bother stopping in… but if you like cheap beer, lively bartenders/owners, fun locals and a good game of pool or darts — do it!
