UPDATE: While I still am not thrilled about this experience as a whole, the team at Gates really pulled together and made a huge effort to get our sectional to us by Thanksgiving. They went out of their way to deliver it the day before, expedited the shipping as much as possible, and were transparent about the challenges they were facing from the manufacturer and delivery company they work with, and they did this in such a way that they still took responsibility(no excuses were made). Very tactful and honest. We are thrilled to have our beautiful new couch, and it was perfect for hosting our family gathering. Thanks Gates! We are really impressed and grateful. ORIGINALREVIEW: I love the sectional couch we ordered, and the sales rep we worked with was great on the day of our order, but sadly I can only give the experience as a whole a «Fair.» We ordered our couch weeks ago, with the clear stipulation that we wanted something that could arrive before the holidays. We were assured that our order would arrive 2 – 3 weeks *before* Thanksgiving. It’s now 1 week before Thanksgiving, and we’ve been receiving calls each week pushing the estimated delivery date out further and further. The most recent message today said it would still be at least *another* ten days before it arrives. Gates did offer to give us a loaner, though not a sectional that can seat our holiday gathering. We’re better off keeping our beat up chaise sofa, even though it’s a bit of an eye sore. They also offered to waive the $ 43 delivery fee, but when a customer orders a custom piece and pays well over $ 1,000 for it, $ 43 does not feel like enough to make up for the disappointment and trouble this has caused. We’re not a rich family. This couch used up all our current savings. And on the day we ordered, we mentioned multiple times that we were shopping specifically for our Thanksgiving gathering, and that getting the couch before Thanksgiving was a prerequisite for our business. By stringing us along, Gates has essentially made it impossible for us to take our business elsewhere. Additionally, when the first call came in letting us know there had been an error in delivery estimates and I explained our timeline and the reasons behind it, the woman I spoke with — Terry — responded very sharply to me with, «Well, everyone and their grandmother wants their furniture yesterday.» I was very dismayed by her attitude and told her that, no, we didn’t want it «yesterday,» we simply wanted it when they agreed it would arrive. Gates really does have a great show room and tons of options. Their prices are a tad bit higher than other furniture stores, but they offer more custom products and we enjoyed our first day picking out our new couch. That said, overall, this was a trying and disappointing experience, and I can’t say I’m eager to return or recommend them.

I purchased a bed from Gates on Saturday and it was delivered today. I have always enjoyed shopping for furniture at Gates and since I grew up in G.P., my family has purchased many items over the past 5 decades and we are very loyal to this local business. I think Giff and his crew do a great job. Giff is a very good salesman(great knowledge of the product) and businessman. I appreciate that we have a business like this in the community that does such a professional job and keeps their prices inline with the competition. If we had restaurants in G.P. that did this great of a job, we would really be happy.

I have been a Gates customer for almost 20 years and have purchased many items from them. We are now in the market for a very high end leather recliner,(over $ 2k). Apparently we don’t «look right» to the sales people. Three weeks ago it was like pulling teeth to get one to even talk with us. We made the decision to return and buy the chair this past Saturday. The sales people ignored us and did not even approach us as we we sat in these chairs for over 15 minutes. The salesman we spoke with 3 weeks ago walked right by us and greeted a well dressed elderly woman who was just looking. He made eye contact with us but said nothing and walked away. He lost a $ 2400 sale and Gates lost a long term customer. We are now a Garrison’s customer and their delivery charge from Medford to Grants Pass is less than Gates charges locally. Gates used to be a great place to do business. I’m guessing there may have been a management change recently.

I never in a million years thought I’d leave a review for a furniture store. However, after the brief yet horrible experience I had at this one, I am compelled to write. I won’t ever step foot in this place again. Not only are they extremely overpriced, but their sales«team» were like a pack of hyenas. I honestly thought one of them would launch a chair at the one trying to help me. Apparently, he(the salesman trying to show me items) took me away from the other sales person who helped me first. I truly felt caught in the middle of some nasty high school hallway fight. Jeez! I quickly left as soon as I found the exit. It was worse than any used car lot I’ve ever been on. NOTHANKS!

Gates has always been the ‘top dog’ in this community when you are in the need for good quality reasonably priced furniture. The customer service is outstanding and the delivery crew deserves rave reviews.

We bought our sofa from Gates. It was the first quality furniture item we ever purchased for our home. Prices are not the cheapest, but neither is the quality. I did price a rug we purchased from there at a few other locations and the prices here are not high by comparison. The staff is kind, and tolerant of crazy kids. Overall, super pleased. As an update: our sofa came apart on one cushion seam. Their service took care of it. They did everything. All o had to do was call them and unlock our front door. The service staff is amazingly helpful and friendly. Our tech even carried around stickers to give the kids.

I found everything I needed(and some pretty great things I didn’t know I needed until I saw them) at Gates. Hilda was wonderful(and very patient) while I was making my decision. The variety of furniture styles and accessories make making a decision difficult. The two delivery guys, Ryan and Tyler, could not have been better. They were on time and went out of their way to make sure I was happy with the placement of each piece.

Gates! I was in your store today and four of your employees walked past me. They did not even acknowledge that I was in the store even when I said hi! When someone finally helped me the lady was very rude. I will be spreading the word and taking my business elsewhere!!! Your customer service was insulting!

Gates furniture is now Gates Home Furnishings. If I could give Gates 6 Stars I would. I’ve been moseying in and out of Gates for years now. Sometimes to browse, sometimes to get decorating ideas and sometimes to buy and I’ve always been made to feel welcome and appreciated. Their associates are very knowledgeable, their merchandise is top of the line and, most of all, they are all about community. They have the best financing of any establishment I’ve ever dealt with, they really, really want to work with and help their customers and their professionalism and courtesy is amazing. They also have a no hassle, no questions asked return policy on everything. This is a locally owned business that’s been around for over 60 years. Gates Home Furnishings gives back to its’ community too. They contribute to and sponsor tons of youth(and may other) programs here in the Rogue Valley. I’ve never needed to know the address because I know where Gates is. In anticipation of writing this review I looked for and found them online. It took a while(a few clicks) to find their phone number on their website so I e-mailed and suggested they include their address and phone number on their«home page». Guess what! Within days they had done just that. Customer satisfaction, that’s what Gates is all about!
