Applegate Country Boarding Kennels

We have boarded our dog there a few times, with no problems. But this last time, we brought both of our dogs. We asked if they could be kenneled together the woman (owners wife),
said that would be fine. We were dropping them off at 5pm and picking them up by 6pm the next day.
We arrived at the kennel at 545pm, saw the owner and his wife sitting in the office.
When we got inside, they said our dogs had «gotten in a little tussle». We did not receive a call about anything!!!
We were shocked to see our dogs very bloody, and still bleeding as they were taken out of the kennels. This was a Sunday evening, so we had to contact our vet, and it was an emergency visit. Our dogs were injured badly enough they had to stay over night. The bill together for both dogs was $ 950.00.
We went the next day nd spoke with the owners wife to ask why they didn’t try to break the dogs up using water or something, and why we were not called. The owner was suppose to call us, but has been 2 days and no phone call.
A phone call at the time of the incident should have been priority!!!
Insult to injury we were charged for 2 days (90.80) when our dogs were there 24 hours. In the past when we have dropped our dog off for 24 hours, we were only charged for 1 day. This was an expensive experience, and dealing with people who are not professional.

I’ve boarded my 2 dogs here twice now. I live nearby and I love the country setting. All of the people I’ve talked with at Applegate are sweet and kind. They definitely seem to understand dogs and care for them a lot. The kennels are kept immaculately clean and my dogs come home smelling like they are kept very clean which is better that almost any other kennel I’ve ever used. There are inside kennel rooms that are air conditioned as needed, with a door to the outside kennels where the dogs can go as they please, though the dogs are all shut in safely at night. There is a large secure outside play yard for them if you pay for play time. They get walked twice a day and fed as many times as you are willing to pay… with extra-​special care for older dogs. Applegate is not too large, so I feel that each dog gets plenty of attention. My dogs always seem very happy to see me when I come back, but they are not frantic or stressed. The second time I boarded them, my dogs had no problems walking right into the kennel. That says a lot. They obviously were fine with staying there and did not turn tail and try to run for the door. Applegate is not inexpensive, but quite honestly, I am willing to pay a few extra bucks to know that my dogs are having a nice vacation and under the best care. After 2 stays, I know that I don’t have to have any nagging worries about them or feel like I’ve abandoned my babies. They are absolutely doing fine and they are getting lots of love, care, and attention. I will be using them again I’m sure and you’ll love them, too.

We boarded our dog last minute over a weekend. They were very nice, I feel as though they didn’t mistreat my dog. This my was my first time boarding him, so he was weird about being away from us, but he was happy. The only reason I gave it a four was because they didn’t ever respond to my email. That is irritating.
I will probably use them again if I have to, but would still try to find something a little more personal (my old dog had the best boarder in CA).

We had to board our doggie for a night since we were going to the Oregon Caves and no dogs allowed. Since Unilocal and Google are fantastic resources, I found this place by pure luck.
I was really pleased at the location-​kind of out in the country and nice and quiet. There was a main house (where I assume the owners live) and then the kennel (they do grooming here as well). We have boarded our dog now a few times at Breton’s and our vet, and never has he been taken care of as well as he was here. I was also amazed at the price. $ 18.00 a night. Very different from the $ 26-​$ 32 we are charged at home. This place also has huge suites for the pets and though he was whiny when we left him, he wasn’t extra whiny or sheddy or jumping to leave like other times. This is really telling and I wish this place were closer to home.
I would recommend using them for sure!
