Lutheran Church of the Resurrection Elca

I am reviewing this church as a wedding and reception venue, not as a church. First of all, I can HIGHLY recommend this as a reception venue because Diane, the event coordinator, is beyond incredible! I visited the church and met with her numerous times over my year engagement and she was so kind and willing to meet and communicate as often as necessary. She responded quickly to what were probably hundreds of emails! On the day of the event, she went out of her way to make things special and keep my mom and I calm and taken care of. She has a lot of expertise and has clearly run many events there. Her overall attitude was so positive and kind the entire time.
However, I cannot recommend the church as a wedding venue in the same way, due to the wedding coordinator, Gail. We exchanged some emails before the big day, but I had to specifically request that she meet with me 30 minutes before the rehearsal. Gail had asked me to make sure the organist knew when the rehearsal was, which I did, but was told by the organist that she doesn’t usually come to rehearsals unless there is a soloist. On the day of the rehearsal, Gail asked me if the organist was coming and I told her no and what the organist had said. Gail seemed upset and said she really had wanted the organist to come. I was absolutely shocked that she had expected me to be the go-​between when they work at the same church! It should not be the bride’s job to convince the organist to come to the rehearsal. During the rehearsal and the wedding, it was clear that Gail had a specific idea of how she thought things should go, regardless of my wishes. She refused to close the center doors and allowed people to walk on the center aisle before the wedding, ripping and tearing it before I went down it. This was after my mom requested multiple times that she close the doors (there are side doors)! She responded very rudely and negatively to my request to move the piano, which was not there when I originally booked the venue and was completely in the way of my bridesmaids standing in a straight line. I had many members of the wedding party and wedding guests make comments about her rude attitude. I honestly felt like she hated her job and found me and my mom to be an annoyance. We complained multiple times in her presence about how hot it was in the room we were getting ready in and she did nothing. As soon as Diane walked in, she quickly took care of the situation and apologized for it. I felt like Diane cared about us and our wedding, while Gail did not. We had to pay an additional mandatory $ 200 for Gail’s services and I do not feel that she earned it.

Nice church. Open to all comers. Do not discriminate. They also have a good Sunday School Program.
