Sean McMenamin, owner of Homecite Mortgage has been our broker for about 10 years. He got us the original loan for our current home, as well as handled multiple re-​finances over the years. Sean has been really good about letting us know when rates are going down to ensure that we have the best loan possible. When we have created some difficulties, like being out of town on the day we were supposed to sign, he took care of what was necessary to ensure that we signed on-​time and were still able to go on vacation. He is wonderful about keeping us informed on the progress of our loans and we are confident and comfortable in the knowledge that he will take care of whatever is needed. In November 2011, I was referred to Ethan Ting at Homecite by my uncle, who also had a very good experience. I was a first time home buyer, and had A LOT of questions about the steps needed to pre-​qualify and eventually get approved. During these early stages, Ethan took his time answering my questions, and taught me about the home loan process. In addition to his patience, I was most impressed with how open and TRANSPARENT he was about everything. He laid things out in an easy to understand way, which made me feel much more comfortable with the biggest purchase of my life. After the initial review of our financial information, Ethan was very responsive when we decided to make offers. If I needed a pre-​qualification letter, he got it to me almost immediately (measured in minutes/​hours, not days). He was available to discuss homes we were interested in, and NEVER pushed us towards a deal in any way, shape, or form (unlike our realtor who showered us with gems like: «don’t wait on putting in an offer, this house is in a hot area, and will move quickly»…and yes, it’s still on the market 4 months later).
When we finally entered escrow, Ethan’s true value became apparent. He was on top of every detail, and by far the most vocal/​communicative party on emails between us, the realtor, and escrow agent. We spoke at length about choosing the right lender, mortgage rate trends, and the timing of locking an interest rate. He was committed to making sure we closed on time (we did), and always made sure that I knew the status, or if something needed urgent attention.
When it was all said and done, after 7 months and 132 emails (we communicated A LOT), we closed on a great house in Davis with a great loan. I would recommend Ethan Ting to anyone, and will use him again in the future.

I have to be honest and admit that I chose Sean McMenamin as my mortgage broker because he used to live across the street from me. He has since moved up in the world and lives in Granite Bay. My ex and I were not an easy case. The ex bought me out, and needed to re-​finance in order to do so. He is self employed, so income verification was difficult. My income to mortgage ratio (I’m sure there is a better term for it but I don’t know what it is) is not good, but Sean at Homecite managed to deal with both of our issues. Then, the day my loan was supposed to fund, Countrywide announced that they are teetering on the edge of bankruptcy and therefore are no longer funding loans. Sean managed to find another lender and re-​submit the whole deal and close within 3 business days. Sean is very good about returning phone calls or e-​mails. He held my hand through this complicated process, and I will be calling him to do a re-​fi as soon as the rates drop.
