Let me start by saying the desserts here are a solid 5 stars! Unfortunately everything else was just mediocre at best. The first issue happened as soon as we looked at the menu. I’m a bit of a planner when it comes to visiting restaurants for the first time and I like checking out their menus online before hand. I like knowing what I’m getting into and it adds some mouthwatering anticipation. We went in ready, no need for a menu here, we got this… Oh wait, everything we had picked out from the online menu ISN’T ACTUALLYONTHEMENU! Literally everything! From appetizers, to main courses, even the escargot was gone and that was a huge blow(sad face). What was left was overpriced(I think the cheapest thing I saw was $ 28), and not anything that sounded very appetizing, imo. Well except for the crab cakes or the prime rib. I went with the prime rib. The next issue was the salad. It literally looked like the cook just peeled off iceberg leaves and threw them on a plate with giant onion, green pepper, and cucumber slices… Oh and three croutons,(yep, THREE). This wouldn’t have been much of a complaint if the knives provided would’ve been sharp enough to cut freakin lettuce but they weren’t. And now on to the main course. The prime rib came with sides of extremely salty/buttery garlic mashed potatoes(so much butter that it was separating from the potatoes) and undercooked broccoli. I had to choke down what little of the sides I ate. The prime rib was cooked to the correct temperature and had a nice flavor, but was very chewy and half of it was fat. Now for the lone bright spot. We got our desserts to go but even hours later they were incredible. So basically, if you’re looking for a cramped, loud, overpriced, mediocre experience then this is the place for you. My suggestion is to eat elsewhere and pickup dessert to go from Yesterday’s. Be prepared to spend $ 13 for a slice of cheesecake though, but it’s totally worth it. Oh, and last side note. This was the first time I’ve ever spent over $ 100 on a dinner for two(including tip but with no appetizers or drinks) and seriously considered stoping at a drive thru on the way home because I was still hungry.

disappointing. the food is not very good but there is a lot of it. quantity not quality. poor cuts of meat and fish masked in over preparation with weak salty side orders. food service quality and preparation the cook has no touch. salad is under shredded, poorly prepared heap of lettuce. extremely overpriced before you order alcohol. as example of pricing: a half liter of beer is 8.50. the service is friendly but they are not particularly interested in whether they are serving decent food it is more about graciousness and filling you up than whether you are enjoying a good dinner. don’t expert the waiter to steer you to good menu items they don’t know the difference. the one order here is the dessert, which is home made and very good. suggest that you skip dinner, order desserts to split(the portions are large). if you are a student you can’t afford the place order dessert and no alcohol. the atmosphere is a lot like the food. they have a tiny old house filled with a ton of stuff having no rhyme or reason. mostly it is pictures of celebrities who never ate there and clever craft store items.

Came for my birthday dinner(obviously) and ordered a whole cheesecake to go. The entrée names are quaint and the service was spectacular every time I’ve been — I wish all places could be so wonderful

I’ve visited Yesterday’s every so often since they opened many years ago, and probably has changed hands a time or two. I found out years ago, that if you come here, you will pay more for what you get. Their meat is A-1 quality, and the desserts are huge and so tasty. My wife and I had dinner there last night, and I have to say, everything was superb. She had the Chocolate peanut butter cheesecake, and I had the turtle cheesecake,(should have just ordered one and split it). We brought the desserts home and had half of each later on, and were we ever full. We both had the 14 oz. prime rib, which were more like 18 – 20 ounces of meat. They tasted great, along with the mushrooms, a giant baked potato, bacon flavored Brussels sprouts, and came with an excellent salad. My wife had a glass of sweet wine from French Lick, IN, and I had an imported Amstel glass of beer. Sure it cost $ 9 or so each, but it is the best. We made reservations for two at 6:15pm, walked in the door and was immediately seated at a table with a view of the shops next door. Our water was brought almost as we sat down and our drinks showed up about 10 minutes later,(our waiter apologized for that delay, due to about 10 people who just came in and sat at the bar). No problem, since we don’t go to Yesterday’s when in a hurry. Our meals arrived just before we finished our drinks, and were delicious, even those tasty Brussels. Our desserts and our left overs were handed to us by our waiter at 7:15pm, which is exactly one hour after we arrived there. Everyone there was as friendly as could be without being overly obnoxious or fake. We left over a 20% tip, as it was all very worth it. Five stars for Yesterday’s, Cha-Ching!

This is one of my favorite places to eat when I come to the South Bend area. We had a party of seven and made reservations and we were sat immediately. We had the two shrimp apps and both were tasty. Tonight was Mac and Cheese night. I had the Lobster Parmesan Mac and Cheese. It was excellent! Great service from Tiki!

We sat at the bar for drinks and dessert last night. It took well over an hour, unnecessarily. It was not busy as the bartender, at all. Ordered a drink about 25min in. It was great, over the rocks amaretto. After my husband witnessing the bartender(Roger) make some after dinner drinks, turn to me and tell me what he did… I was in shock and said no way!!! Another table of ladies ordered after dinner drink too. These drinks included whip cream on top. My husband nudged me and I saw the same thing… Roger added the whip cream with a spoon and pushed it onto the top of the drink with his fingers. Then he walked toward the small hall between the bar and dining area and LICKED his fingers, then proceeded to put sprinkles on the the top of the whipped cream. I ate about 2 bites of my own dessert with the whip cream on it(I didn’t touch it), boxed it and took it. Scraped the whip cream off and let my kids finish the dessert. Soooo repulsed. After we sat at the bar, we also noted that while the dessert tray was explained fast it wasn’t the entire tray. We were never offered the Key Lime Pie. Hubby would’ve gotten that for sure.

We only came here for dessert and it was fantastic! I’m a sweets connoisseur and my key lime pie was, to me, AMAZING! Normally when you ask for ice cream you just get a little scoop on the side right… well here you get an entire big bowl full! It was a dream come true for me! Loved it and will be back!

Yesterday’s is our absolute favorite restaurant for a special occasion. The atmosphere is infectious, no matter the time but after ND games, it is so fun. Every room is decorated and their desserts are TODIEFOR! Try their Key Lime pie. My favorite dinner is the coconut crusted shrimp. They make great drinks, too!

How do I love this place? Let me count the ways: dessert, Uncle Matt’s Chicken Lips, coconut or almond crusted shrimp, blue cheese dressing, steaks, garlic appetizer. Oh I could go on and on. The owners are very hands on and accommodating. It is clear that they take pride in their business. This is not a quick in and out joint. It is an event. The people who brought their 6 month old should have planned better and, rather than expecting their server to read their mind, they should have stated their needs. We have practically raised our kids in this place. All family celebrations gravitate towards Yesterday’s because there’s a warm, family atmosphere. It is a bit on the pricey side but you get what you pay for AND you support a local owned business. Win. Win.

Yesterday’s is usually billed as a nice restaurant in the area. I thought that the food was alright, but unnecessarily expensive. Desserts, however, will not disappoint. My biggest complaint of my experience the other night is one that I find happens all too often at the«nice» places here in town. Upon entering the establishment, we were not greeted for about 10 minutes. We weren’t seated for another 5 minutes. The restaurant wasn’t crazy busy, so I’m not sure why the prolonged wait times. All in all, it was a decent visit and I’m sure I will return for appetizers and something sweet.

Update — yesterday’s has unfortunately gone downhill. Long waits, unhappy staff, lousy food. Gave it another chance understanding everyone has an off night and just as bad!

This restaurant has always been a part of my Notre Dame football game week traditions.(Note football weekends you need a reservation) Be aware it is expensive but it also it is well worth the price. The building is an old house with a lot of segregated rooms. If you call ahead with a large group there are a few private rooms you can reserve. My moms favorite is the Christmas room. Yes you heard that all of the rooms are decorated like different holidays! Just another thing setting this restaurant apart. For apps the garlic clove and the Bre. Main dishes it would be the prime rib or the godfather… Dessert O the desert. They come to your table with a tray of 12 – 15 of the most delicious piles of sugar and heaven you have ever seen. All of the deserts are home made(by the owners wife I believe) and they are truly to die for. In fact sometimes I even come here just for the deserts and they are so large and rich I leave full. Also since you truly cannot just pick one; I suggest everyone ordering on and passing them around the table. Because you would not want to miss out. I give it 4 stars though due to how long the meal drags out. Now it’s probably not them but I feel I’m always here for 5 hours(this could be all the courses and 7 glasses of long islands I like to down though) All in all this place is a blast with an amazing atmosphere and service. A must try if you find yourself at notre dame. **on your birthday they give you a decadent Mexican hat you can wear all night.(Just note you don’t keep it)

BUYERBEWARETHISPLACEISAWEFUL!!! Took my mom here Saturday before Mothers Day 2014… waitress didn’t know the menu. She seriously had to leave the table five times to go ask a manager about the specials, market price on king crab, soup of the day etc. Our meal cost $ 250 for three adults and two children. This included two glasses of wine at $ 10 each and everyone else drank water. We didn’t even get dessert! I had the petite filet that was suppose to have fresh asparagus with bernaise and blue crab. The asparagus and crab were definitely previously frozen and the bernaise was basically melted butter. My wife ordered a chicken dish that came out looking like a half chicken that had been dipped in long john silver batter and deep fried for way too long. Completely dried out. My mother ordered the fresh catch of the day which they called a wolf fish. Same nasty asparagus and the three of us had ordered garlic mashed potatoes with our meal as a side. One of the most disgusting things I’ve ever tried to eat. The chef must have mistaken sugar as salt because it was sweet and the potatoes were clumped and only half way mashed. Absolutely disgusting! There were no menu items for the kids to order… cheapest entrée was $ 30 for a child. Seriously! I’m not cheap by any means but my kids don’t eat that much and for them not to have an option for kids on Mother’s Day made it seem like they were trying to gouge you for more money. Normally if we go to a nice restaurant I don’t mind as long as the food is good, but definitely not the case here! I live in Granger and this is the second time my family have been to this place. The first time was just for appetizers which were ok at best but we decided to give this place another shot for Mothers Day… huge mistake!!! I have no idea how this place is getting these four and five star ratings… I was trying to support our local community business but this was grade A dog food.

We just came for desserts… pretty sure we had to loosen our belts afterward. Try the Reese’s peanut butter Pie. It’s a huge mountain of peanut butter chocolate goodness! Speaking of mountains… pretty much every dessert is a mountain of awesomeness!!!

I will start with the fact that I have been to this restaurant several times and have always had a wonderful experience. However the other day it was not so wonderful, but the reason I am giving it 5 stars is because the owners fixed and took care of the problems. I will not go into the issues we had because it was not normal for this place. Either the waitress was new or had other things on her mind. But the owners were very nice and gracious. They apologized over and over for any inconvience it caused us. I will continue to give them my business because they really do want their customers to have a good experience. They did tell us that if it ever happens again and we want a different waitress then we just need to let them know and they will swap them out for us right away. So I will keep that in mind for next time! If you get the prime rib with a temp of medium it is so delicious! Their desserts are excellent as well.

I always find it hard to start a bad review, because there is so many places that I could start. I’ll just dive right in. Service. I know they’re trying, but that isn’t my fault. When I go to a restaurant that charges $ 30 average for a plate, I expect at least decent service. When we sat down, it was 10 min before anyone say us. Now this place isn’t large(it’s basically a large, old home), but the sections are segregated so I understand how a server could«forget» about a table. But the issue was that they were understaffed. Being that this was a Saturday night during dinner rush, I find it a little ridiculous on the restaurants part to stretch their staff so thin that people are seeing their servers only 2 or 3 times during their time there. The server was courteous enough though, although it was hard to tell if he was being facetious or really hated his job. The food. This is where I demand that a «higher end» restaurant shine. In addition, this is a «mom n pop» type dining experience, so I have higher expectations when the cooks are likely hand picked by the long time owners. Well, I have to say that the food was subpar at best. Sincerely, when the food hit my tongue, I could have sworn I was in a Bob Evans.(Obviously when I saw the bill, I realized I wasn’t.) The creativity and general quality of the dishes was quite lacking and left everyone unsatisfied. Apparently all servers are forced by management to push the desserts after the meal, but when we’re given large portions of bland food, it’s hard to even think of stomaching their sickeningly rich looking cheesecakes. I can say that the atmosphere was quite pleasant. Everything was retro 1920s and 30s themed, so it was good fun staring at the walls that were covered with old memorabilia. Overall, it isn’t worth what you pay. But if you’re like the majority of Midwestern consumers, you don’t demand a lot from your dining experience, so I expect many people will continue to frequent this establishment.

It’s been quite awhile since I had been to Yesterday’s, but my husband and I thought their patio would be perfect for a Saturday dinner out. We made reservations, which weren’t needed as they weren’t too busy. We were seated upon arrival at a nice table on the patio. The only downside was the overwhelming citronella fumes that came directly towards us, but we were appreciative the multiple torches kept the bugs away. We were greeted by our waitress who was friendly, but a little spacey. We all know restaurants mark up their wines, but I was surprised to see a glass of Rodney Strong Chalk Hill was $ 9.25…talk about pricey. The bottle was more reasonably priced at $ 30. We opted for the bottle and my husband later got a beer to go with his burger — $ 6.50 for a pint of Oberon is steep compared to every other place in the area with Oberon on tap. Fortunately, our other selections were more reasonably priced. We ordered the Underneath the Southern Moon appetizer which was crispy seasoned waffle fries topped with bacon, cheese, tomatoes, scallions and served with a side of sour cream and ketchup. We’ve been on a bit of a burger quest lately so my husband ordered the Mob, which is a huge filet mignon burger topped with whole roasted garlic cloves, sliced green olives and topped with provolone cheese, served on a pretzel roll. It didn’t disappoint and was one of his favs(along with Miles Lab and Flippin’ Cow in Elkhart). Since we had the waffle fries as an appetizer, he took the waitress up on an offer of a side salad, which was large with a nice selection of lettuces, but no other veggies. They make all their cream dressings in house so he went with the bleu cheese, which he enjoyed. One of my pet peeves is when a restaurant doesn’t both to mention their upcharges — the side salad was an additional $ 4, which is fine, but should have been mentioned. The upside was his burger still came out with the fries. The burger is definitely worth the $ 11 price tag. I knew their portions were huge so I opted for a salad — the Times Square, which is a blend of lettuces topped with their prime rib, a mound of carmelized onions, bleu cheese crumbles and tomatoes(not a tomato fan so it would have been nice if the menu included a better description so I could have ordered without). The menu did say the prime rib slices were served medium; however, mine was well done, but still tender and tasty. I ordered their homemade ranch dressing on the side. The salad was $ 13 and I didn’t come close to finishing it. Yesterday’s is known for their housemade desserts so do your best to save room. My husband picked the peanut butter cheesecake for us to share which like all their desserts, is served with a massive mound of fresh, homemade whipped cream. We did our best, but still ended up taking home more than we ate. The cheesecake was an incredible bargain at $ 10. One dessert is easily enough for four adults to share! We love the eclectic and relaxed atmosphere and our only real complaints where the inconsistency in service and the overpriced drink selections. All in all, it was a great dinner and we’ll be back in the future. Our bill with an appetizer, bottle of wine, beer, burger, salad entrée and dessert was $ 89.

This is one of my favorite restaurants anywhere and for several reasons: the food, the ambiance, the history, the dessert, the service and the memories. I grew up in the area and make a stop any time I’m back in town and recommend that everyone should. The desserts are a decadently unique feature of this place as they are all homemade and even change a bit seasonally. The Brie and roasted garlic, Some Like it Hot, and Uncle Matt’s Chicken Lips appetizers are very good as well, and for that matter: PRETTYMUCHTHEENTIREMENUISDELICIOUS. The location is an old farmhouse converted to a locally owned restaurant several years ago that has the rooms decorated in a quaint and whimsical but elegant style and there’s even a year-round Christmas room! The service is friendly but professional and there’s a nice patio for beautiful days/evenings. Recommend for groups, dates, cocktails just a bite or even dessert after eating elsewhere… in other words, pretty much anything. It does cost a bit more than average than other places in the area but it’s definitely worth it for the overall experience, to save on cost share a few things with a group of people as the servings are large and dessert is a must!
