Adobe In & Out

I love tacos and this is a great location close to my proximity to get some; however, the particular tacos they serve are not to my particular taste — it is much more «American-​ized». The service is good generally.

I have given Adobe several tries, and had I written this review before the last visit they would have only received a 2, but after this last time they earned a 3^rd star.
My problem with Adobe before my last visit was the taste of the food. Everything was bland. The taco meat tasted like browned hamburger with no seasoning or anything added to it, and the salsa had no flavor. The reason it would have gotten 2 stars instead of just 1 is because even though the food was bland every time I went, I could tell that all of the food was fresh.
But after reading some reviews here on Unilocal and seeing that some people recommended the shredded chicken tacos, I thought I would give the chicken a try as I had only tried the beef, and I was surprised that something they had actually had some flavor. The chicken tacos was enough to earn it another star, but did not make up for the blandness of all the other food I have tried.

I have been to Adobe hundreds of times in the past… extremely disappointed for the first time.
Blandest tacos I have ever tasted. I think the cook forgot the taco seasoning in the beef and the hot sauce in the salsa. Ruined my love for this restaurant, will not be returning.

Adobe In & Out — that’s a good name since their food doesn’t sit well with me (same thing 2x, probably because the food is super greasy).
However, I did get a large portion (got tacos) for the price. It’s not that it’s an aweful place. I’m just rating from my own experience.

It’s quick, american style mexican food at a fair price, not much more to say here.

My family has been going to Adobe for food since it was still a full, sit-​down restaurant with bar in downtown Grand Rapids. Although the food is not varied or exotic, you get great food, large portions, and all at a good price. Although the shops can be a bit unprofessional (For instance putting new menu items on their drive-​thru sign using a sheet of copy paper and tape), that also gives them a somewhat charming local feel.

The food is ok and the prices are good. The tacos are a good deal. They give you a ton of hot sauce. My favorite item on the menu is the chips. I’m not sure if they are home made but they have this great amount of salt on them. The beans aren’t anything amazing; the cheese is too oily for me. When we want tacos and don’t want to make them ourselves, Adobe works.
