Nice service, fabulous bagel sandwiches… we actually got one to split and ended up getting a second! The cheddar herb bagel is amazing!!! Warm and scrumptious! The atmosphere is okay, seats were not terribly comfortable and the music is too loud and lively for all the talking and sounds of machines… I sound old, lol, but I don’t like hearing music so loud despite the fact that my headphones are on listening to a webinar. The coffee was just okay, but they have a nice variety of drinks and I like that they are so nicely posted! I’ll try something else next time. Not a place to work, for me, but a nice place to relax, chat, and eat a delicious sandwich!

Mayan Buzz is a rather quiet little coffee shop with great décor and enough seating for groups, meetings, and homework. They have an extensive menu, especially compared with other area cafés. Their beverages are around $ 4 or $ 5. I go with a cup of house coffee for $ 2.75. Ya get one free refill, which is the perfect amount for me. They also have quite a few sandwiches and other baked goods. Their bagels are yummy, and their donuts look appetizing, too. I really enjoy the ambience here, as the chairs and tables are a huge mix of different kitchen and living room furniture and old-school red and teal barstools. On Thursday nights, they have an open mic variety show that’s gaining popularity. They also coordinate live music here and there. They have a convenient location right next to Central Station, and are open 24 hours Sunday through Wednesday for all you crazy college kids out there.

Cozy place on a chilly day. Americano was excellent. Porcelain cup for inside. Good wifi. Just down the street from Founders.

I was down the street and with family touring Grand Rapids for the day and I was fading quick! Mayan Buzz Café to the rescue… and rescue me it did. The café itself is a very bright and clean space with a friendly barista awaiting your order. I went with an iced vanilla latte… It was seriously perfect, you guys. Too many times flavored lattes have presented me with the question«would you like some latte with your simple syrup?»… What I’m saying is this drink was well balanced! With just the right amount of sweetness and vanilla I was able to still enjoy all the notes the espresso had to offer. It was quick a in and out for me, but I’m certainly glad I came here & thank goodness for them being open on a Sunday!

I figured I would kill some time before my parents came back to scoop me up so I stopped in here. I have also been having a terrible coffee craving lately where I have been exceeding my 12pm imbibement. Crazy that they are open until midnight. I like that there is a table seating, bar seating and high top seating for laptop working, and comfy casual couch seating for something more relaxed. I sat around a couple areas as my mood switched. I got the Mayan latte which is pretty spicy so you have to appreciate that distinct type of flavor in your drink. It was different for me and not as subtle as I thought it would be. The prices are comparable, and the service was ok. I have to wonder why I wasn’t offered a punch card and the barista seemed to miss that I said that I wanted my drink in a to go cup which she later had to put in for me since I didn’t finish it waiting for my ride.

Cute coffee shop near the bus station and Founders. It seems like a stoner place from the outside but it’s welcoming and cozy on the inside. Seems like a place I’d regularly visit if I was in GR more often. For now, I’ll have the memories of my take out latte and tea to keep us awake while we stood in line for a Founders event.

Such a cute café! The barista was so sweet, she gave us suggestions of things to do in the area. I was there in a group for a bachelorette party, where half of us are baristas too… We all loved our drinks. We were constantly swapping. I had a rumchata(non-alcoholic, of course) sort of blended drink. I wish they had XXXL cups, what an amazing drink. Cozy atmosphere with a huge chalkboard and nice seating.

Love this place. When I attended GRCC I studied there and the staff and atmosphere is PHENOMENAL!!! Anybody looking for a nice 24-hour study spot should definitely frequent #mayabuzz plus the LATTESARETODIEFOR!

I wish(so hard!) that this place had existed when I was going to school in the GR area. It’s not quite what Noshville was, but it’s a 24-hour coffee shop, which is pretty great as it is. I stumbled across this place after having tried CBS at Founders near closing time with some friends. Because they were drunk and needed water, Mayan Buzz, right across the street, appeared like an oasis in the middle of a dessert. They have(free) cups for water, canned/bottled drinks like Arizona tea for purchase, and also sell locally made coffee. Cool beans. Actually, hot beans because coffee. Super chill/friendly staff, cute interior, nice assortment of board games & books. One thing I really love is their blackboard wall. When I grabbed a piece of chalk and wrote the café name on it, the barista told me they were hiring. Lolol. I’ll definitely be back.

My boyfriend and I were pretty upset we just now figured out this shop existed and is 24 hours. We always try to go to the Bitter End for study/reading nights, but it’s always packed. The ambiance here is also much more comfortable, friendly, and less homeless-like. We both got the Bolivian roast and WOOHOO I loved the caffeine levels and it was delicious! I love the couches, TVs, and the sinks in the bathroom are pretty awesome(trust me, just check them out). I wouldn’t doubt the sketchy crowd other reviewers mentioned considering its location so close to the bus station, but I didn’t experience anything as we went on a Sunday night from about 6 – 8:30PM — just normal people reading, doing homework, talking, etc. I’m sad we’re moving out of the city limits in a month because I would have spent so much more time here if I had discovered it sooner while I live close.

As a Barista myself, visiting local shops in every town I visit is a priority. Mayan Buzz Café had great ambiance, multiple power outlets, reliable internet, and was conveniently located next to the bus station. The music was a perfect volume. I was also impressed with their selection of non-dairy milks. It uniquely only serves Latin American coffees which I found an interesting tidbit, as the owner is Hispanic himself. I did ask the barista a couple of questions about their coffee(i.e. single origin, what type of farming methods) that she did not know, which was the only downside. If I every find myself in Grand Rapids again I will visit! Great work!

That poor poor girl. How must she had felt having a very«cracked out» homeless man angrily yell obscenities at her. Oh, and I know he was«cracked out» because this guy was clearly smoking something very illicit in the back; and definitely not of the herbal persuasion. Oh, and the fact that some guy commented that this is a regular occurrence… Guess this is what you get having your very nice establishment right next to a bus station. To the very very nice girl who gave me my tea, do yourself a favor and quit this place. No one should put with what I witnessed. I was very uncomfortable just sitting there. Now that we have covered why I will never return, and vehemently urge readers to do the same, the place has a very welcoming aura to it. It says, «Come in, sit down, stay for hours. You won’t regret it. We have a wide variety of tasty teas, and coffee blends. We also have internet. ITSFREE. What are you waiting for? Just. Do. It». Yeah, it said all this to me, and they were right, for the most part. They just quickly… and silently said, «we also make it a very convenient hang out spot for people who like to smoke crack». Damn. I should have listened better.

Very good drinks. Impressed about their variety of selection of milks which helps since I’m intolerant to cow’s milk and don’t find selections like that at any other standard coffee shop. Their Sea Salt Caramel is so delicious! I get the same thing every time.

I would highly recommend Mayan Buss Café for the following reasons. — Wide variety if Milk options(cows milk, almond milk, soy milk) — Very fast Wi-Fi — Open 24 hours 7 days a week(even on holidays) — Well made drinks — Great environment to work or have an intimate meeting. Almost every seat is within reach of a power outlet. There are multiple private«nooks» where you can sit and read /work in peace.

* 24⁄7 * Limited power outlets * Loud machinery * Modern technology * Square payments * Reliable Wi-Fi * Delicious drinks * Friendly staff * Lack of consistency * Beware obnoxious customers Lack of white noise makes it difficult to focus — there is a surprising number of people unconcerned with the wellbeing of others. Brutish conduct. Experience is severely dependent on the barista — a majority of the staff members are committed to providing excellent service. A few of them don’t care. Overall, as a culture, it feels like a family of craftsmen — ever experimenting, ever coming closer to harmony.

It was my first time here and I only chose to go because of the location. The coffee is decent but I think it is over priced. I got a 12oz latte with two shots of espresso for just under $ 5 not including tip. I would expect this from Madcap or somewhere with highly skilled baristas but this did not appear to be the case. I usually go to lantern where I can get a larger size beverage from a highly skilled barista for $ 1 less. I didn’t try anything else but I did notice that there were three employees one other patron and two tables with dirty dishes. The menu looked to have some nice options. I probably won’t go back unless it’s just for a convenience factor.

Awesome coffee, decent prices. I love the vegetarian baleada, basically a tortilla with refried beans, avacado, honduran sour cream and cheese folded in half, $ 2.50 for 1 $ 4.50 for 2. And dont forget the super friendly staff!

Let’s see… Mayan buzz. It’s by far your best option for an all night coffee shop in GR. It’s focused on all of the little things, like ambiance, food, service, etc. Their coffee isn’t bad, but, it’s not the quality of the other coffee focused coffee shops and they don’t have the knowledge of the other baristas in town. I like the place, I really do. But, in my opinion, putting itself forward as a coffee shop, with the barista area front and center, gives expectations that won’t be met. To me, this place would be excellent, probably 5 stars, if they backed off on the coffee focused appearance and switched to more of a café focused image. If I had walked into this place and saw it as a place that had everything you needed for an all night session of whatever you’re doing all night. Food, drink, etc, all more or less equally prominent I’d be expecting pretty good food, pretty good coffee and tea, and pretty good desert. And my expectations would be met entirely.

Excellent place for an all-night paper-writing session. Laptop outlets line the walls! The staff is friendly, drinks are tasty, and the atmosphere is spot-on for their holiday season grand opening. If you’re lucky, leather furniture is open for seating! There is a wonderful jukebox stationed on the wall that appears to be decoration, but don’t be fooled – it is fueling the music you’re hearing in the café!
