I grew up on Kilwin’s in Downtown Charleston, SC. I was excited to have one ½ mile away that I can walk to Downtown Grand Rapids. We’ve been there a few times since they opened. Today I just wanted a strawberry waffle cone. Went in to find NO strawberry — one of the«big 3» staple flavors! They subbed it out for some holiday flavors — like Eggnog. I don’t even know anyone who likes Eggnog. Anyway, I decided on peach. I get a single scoop on a waffle cone. No big whoop. It rings up and it’s $ 8.47! I thought surely the girl made a mistake. Nope. It’s $ 8.47. Needless to say, I’m really upset about it. I make good money but in no way am I comfortable paying that price for a «snack». I doubt I’ll be in again. I find that way too outrageous. And like someone else said — no prices posted so it’s complete and utter shock at the register.

I love chocolate and I love ice cream. If you offer these items you have my attention. The products are great. The service is wonderful. The store is clean and welcoming. There is a nice selection of ice cream. When I am in the area I often go in and get a small cup.

We stopped in during a weekend stay for a wedding. The ice cream was great but crazy expensive. 6 bucks for a single scoop waffle cone and $ 8.50 for a root beer float. I agree with the other reviews… you can get similar quality for much less.

Just stopped here and was astounded by how overpriced the ice cream was. $ 4 for a kids size and $ 6 for a single scoop! Prices were not listed anywhere either. Maybe they have to charge extra for being in a high rent area, but I think it would be appropriate to display prices so you don’t get shocked at the register and feel trapped because you’re already holding the goods. Compared to other excellent ice cream places I have enjoyed, this ice cream was good, but priced high.

We have a Kilwins near me in Geneva, IL so I knew the second I saw the Kilwins sign in Grand Rapids that we were in for a treat. Kilwins serves the very best ice cream and they even hand-craft delicious chocolates and fudge. We stopped in for a delicious ice cream treat(I believe I had black cherry), but I love all the candies they make right in from of your eyes. They have seating indoors and on an outside patio when the weather’s nice. Definitely stop in if you’ve got a sweet tooth!

Very good ice cream, caramel, and chocolate covered ANYTHING. I would give the s’mores a pass because they do not contain nearly enough marshmallow, but everything else gets two enthusiastic thumbs up. We stop by every year as part of our annual Artprize expedition. My current fave is caramel covered oreos!

Went on a Friday night during ArtPrize, so it was pretty nuts in there. However, lots of cool ice cream flavors and a huge assortment of sweets. It doesn’t matter what flavor you get, but YOUMUSTTRYTHEFUDGE!

Nice surprise. Nice ice cream selection, great chocolatier, decent prices. Nice location right next to Rosa Parks Circle. Nice excuse to walk the Monroe mall a little and enjoy downtown after dark

Love this place! Stopped in after having dinner. Got a generous scoop of toasted coconut ice cream. I was in heaven! I’m not a big fan of fudge, but there’s a pretty big selection of different types of fudge to choose from, not to mention the fudge samples. I’m definitely a fan!

The chocolate is nothing special. I actually think hershey’s tastes better. I would have expected more from a place that is supposed to specialize in making chocolate. At least I had a groupon to pay for their overpriced chocolate.

I will echo what Amy M. says — watch your step! I almost broke my neck leaving because I was too focused on my ice cream. The staff has been very friendly the two or three times we’ve been in, and are nice about giving samples of the ice cream to help you decide what you want. The portions are big(a single is PLENTY) and they are nice about splitting a single into two different kinds of ice cream. The ice cream is delish, but not cheap for sure.

Watch your step! This is the note on the door & what you see immediately when you enter the store. They have a weird little step down, step up when you walk in the door. Kilwin’s is great — yummy desserts that aren’t cheap!!! The sea salt caramel fudge is a new one Ihaven’t tried before, thought it was good. The turtles are yummy! Great location in the McKay Tower downtown, it lends a more touristy appeal to downtown which is nice. Hope it does well in this location!
